Tony Leung is a great actor, and I can only admire him more for taking on such a hard physical role, Especially as every Wing Chun practitioner out there will be looking at his techniques under the microscope, and comparing his skill against what they already know ? Ultimately I still rate him as a great actor / performer, and I hope he can pull - off another great performance.
I think he did pretty good for not being a martial artist in real life, he put much more effort to portray a real grandmaster; donnie yen is a real martial artist so it was not hard for him to play this role, but i think tony did a better job in trying to develop this character as much more than a martial artist.
seeing it undramatized like in film, the technique looks so practical and effective. could be just fanboying over it, but I kinda wanna learn it myself
I am 100% sure I saw a photo of Tony Leung about 12 years ago learning Wing Chun from one of the Ip brothers. Not sure if it was for a movie or just for show..so he isn't entirely new to the system
I wanna know who trained Tony for the film? It was reported he trained for 4 years to prep; and had his arm broken twice...what in the hell? What kind bad training did they make him do??
Are you kidding? Donnie Yen is an expert martial artist for years in real life and Tony Leung is just an ordinary man who act as martial artist in movie. But Tony still a better actor than Donnie, regardless his lame wing chun movement.

Eight years later, he became an immortal Chinese warlord...

Wooden dummy and intense conditioning with little recovery
His trainer/Sifu was Duncan Leung
One of the Ip Man’s student
Applied Wing Chun

Music ?
Movie name @1901iasonas
donnie yen was more fluide...
The music. It sucks. Big time.
I respect Tony Leung. But he is not a fighter.
tony leung not a fighter donnie yen is a fighter like jackie chan or jer li
tony just an actor to pretend to be a fighter
He still has to train, and that makes him a better WC stylist than either of us.
He may be an actor, but with that intense practise I will think twice to challenge him.
They all had to learn the martial arts their character was using, it wasn't just learning the moves for their particular scenes.
Hey, Tony is an amazing actor.
