- I've heard others say that their longbow or their fly rod have taken them to some amazing places. That, through that conduit, they get to experience a world that few others even know exist. It's certainly been that way for me.
On this adventure we explore a wilder Florida that few tourists ever get to experience. We're bowhunting hogs with legendary outdoorsman, Flip Pallot. Flip is perhaps best know for his long running television show, Walker's Cay Chronicles, but he's also a lifelong and dedicated traditional bow hunter.
I was fortunate enough to spend a few days in the central Florida marsh swapping fly fishing and bow hunting stories with Flip this past spring.
On this same trip I was also able to do a little saltwater fly fishing for baby tarpon and even do a little casting in the canals for snook. Florida may be crowded along the beaches and tourist areas but there's plenty of lonely spots to get away and get in on some amazing fishing if you know where to look.
Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: bowhunting, bow building, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!

I can’t get enough of your Florida hunting videos
That's the magic of the woods that few people, save for hunters, will ever experience. Sit still and quiet for long enough and the woods will come alive all around you...
Awesome video!
Thanks
Had no idea Flip was a bowhunter. Watched Walkers Cay religiously as a kid. Love that guy. Awesome that you are able to hunt with him!
Flip’s a cool dude. You’ll see more of him on this channel.
Good to see flips still with us, always enjoyed his fishing show thanks for sharing
Still going strong!
I love watching your Florida videos! I'm from Lake City FL and it brings back great memories of hunting in the osceola forest with my longbow. I'm stationed overseas now and miss hunting and fishing. Thanks for posting!
My friend and I took our kayaks down from Georgia a couple of years ago to Steinhatchee. We fished the creeks and flats, it is a whole different world that both of us were unaware existed so close to us. He grew up in Florida as well, but never spent any time in that area of the state. I am amazed at the wildlife and the solitude that one can experience in our great country if we just get out there and find it. Keep up the good work, it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
A highly treasured and coveted experience. Thank you for taking us a long.
Thanks
Be a hell of a way to spend the weekend for sure. I love to listen to Flip tell stories
Excellent filming, edit & narration from one Clay tuber to another.
Thanks Clay

i grew up watching Flip on ESPN sunday's morning he was an inspiration of mine that's awesome you got to meet him and get to hunt with him!!!!
Fantastic tales, I'd love to hunt Florida. What a place thanks for sharing Clay, flip sure is a character
Thanks Jim
This is a great video that resonates with me, a lot. Living in GA, many people think they have to go far for great trout fishing, when the 'hooch runs right through the middle o the city of Atlanta and up my way there are browns on browns on browns and some hogs, too. Sometimes the grass isn't always greener.
Also, I have to say, my 8 year old and I love your vids; we recently built our first board bow because of your inspiration and yesterday we started on our own arrows (dowel arrows, but we have to start somewhere). Not only is this traditional way continuing his appreciation of the outdoors, but it's actually strengthening his body and mind. Appreciate what you do brother! Keep that good stuff coming and if you ever want to get a brown trout in GA....
you are right, I have caught some big brownies on the Hootch. A good friend of mine caught a 12 pounder last week!
Thanks Steven.
Great video Clay, excellent ode to Florida wild places.
Awesome video off. This is the way I love to hunt. Getting something is icing on the cake.
Very nice video! Like the fishing
What an honor!
Yeah, Florida is awesome with all the reptiles around. Wish we had them in such numbers up north.
Looks like an adventure for sure. The fishing looks phenomenal!
And anyone with a canoe or kayak can do it!
Great video man. You always show what hunting is really about . Keep up the good work Jynx.
Thank ya!
Agreed CH, I live in Ocala and feel the same way...with Idaho on my mind. I have enjoyed your book and thanks for sharing. Your always welcome at our fire...I even have a few “ secret” places for some nice Hogs if your in the neighborhood. 😉🤘🏻
Thanks
Had no idea you grew up in Fla.
I totally understand not going south of Gainesville lol
Thank you for the beautiful tribute to the parts of Fla I grew up with and love
This looks just like my hometown Cocoa Beach!
Goddamn I'm just about to move too what are you tryna do to me
Great video, amazing place.
Awesome story thanks for sharing
Thanks Dale
“What the heck had you been thinking…”
Don’t be hard on yourself. We (Americans) are very fortunate to live in a large and amazing country. There is more diversity than any one person could explore in a lifetime. Plus, there is the matter of quality over quantity. When I travel, I like to take my time and absorb the place. I will not visit and see every sight, but I will enjoy the ones I so experience far more.
Awsome video
Very entertaining thank you
Another great video! Non powered double ended canoes are my favorite way to get around. Sadly, most of the time I gotta use power. If you get to where you want small powered skiff or something the Grumman Sportboat with a 7 horse Swamprunner longtail is a very versatile load hauler for it's size. I don't know how hard they'd be to find down there. I always look forward to your videos, be safe out there!
Fantastic! I would have never imagined you'd see a black bear.
The bear population has really taken off since I moved away 15 years ago!
I only learned that Flip was a traditional bowhunter about 6 months ago and was so glad to see this side of him. Loved the bear story.
PS, he needs to quieten up his arrow shelf/arrows, nothing is going not hear draw.
That was a brand new selfbow. Hadn’t had time even to put any shelf material on it yet!
Bit of fishin, nice to see.
Great buddy.
Awesome!
Clay, I kinda had you figured as a fellow Florida boy!
I didnt know Flip was a traditional archer. That's great news. How did you meet him Clay, and how did this hunt come about?
Mutual friends and deep roots in Florida.
I didn't know you were from Florida bro 🌴🌴 i want to take your bow making class
We’ll get signed up!
You've got a new nickname now clay, JINXY, 😂😂😂😂😂
F’ing hog jinx!
Thanks
u are the best
What kind of canoe you got there, I think their better than a kyak.
I think it’s an OldTown.
Get them on The Reel Clay!
Haha! Man they were too small! Tons of fun though.
A mountain guy by birth and disposition, I was nonetheless attracted to the wide array of the wildlife possibilities in FLorida when I first got out of the Service in 1976. I moved down to Brandenton but there was this 4 story nightclub in Orlando and.....Look, when you are a fit 21 year old in a habitat filled with 30 year old divorced creatures....hunting in FLorida ia a target rich environment....still gotta watch out for the teeth..Everything in Florida bites
I'm going to have to pick up the pace. I've made a couple bows that shot fairly well but they sure didn't look as good as the bows you guys were carrying. Stave bows but it didn't look like there was anything primitive about them. But you stole my idea of camouflaging your arrows from me. Turned them over a flame didn't you? I've been doing that since the 70s.
Most of the bows I make are more modern in design. But with ancient materials.
What is your selfBow draw weight?
Most of my bows are somewhere between 56-63 lbs at 29”.
Love you video , thanks for quick reply 👍👍👍
I had a bear take a bow shot doe from me in the Apalachicola National Forrest....he didn't bluff so I let him keep it....
