    Nicely described. I had been to Padum via Kargil in the year 2017 & also trekked to Phugtal monastery . It was a memorable experience. Now , opening of the new route for Padum will definitely attract more travelers in this remote area. Than you very much for the well elaborated video.

    Hello Dheeraj, absolutely fabulous channel and go to guide for anyone planning Leh Ladakh trip.
    Wanted to confirm if the below route is managable according to you. (breaking it down)
    Hanle- Tso Moriri lake
    Tso Moriri Lake- Sarchu
    Sarchu- Purne
    Phutkal monastry trek and drive till Padum
    Padum- Manali
    Manali-Chandigrah
    Thanks in advance

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад +1

      Route is manageable and i hope you are taling precautions of acclimatization
      Manali to Chandigarh is where most hassles are right now. Authorities are working relentlessly to restore normalcy. Lot of washed away road sections between Manali and Mandi, with diversion roads, one way traffic on stretches, etc.. All these will cause delays and it is taking a lot of time to travel between Mandi and Manali especially. Manali - Mandi distance may even take 5-6 hrs to cross, so be ready from mindset. Aug 28, a friend travelled and reported it took him 6+ hrs to travel between Manali - Mandi. So, you may need to be patient as of now.
      After Mandi, more or less mangeable till Chandigarh without much diversions or road blocks.
      However, in time to come things will improve provided dry spell of weather persist and this time duration of travel should come back to normal times.
      Regarding Jammu to Srinagar to Leh, ys the roads are a bit bad in between but manageable. People who have travelled recently reported that some sections in between are bad but rest is all manageable. Especially after Srinagar it is more or less fine barring some stretches in between.

    Hi Dheeraj,
    Its great to see your channel growing so well and your videos are a boon to every Leh Ladakh/Spiti/Zanskar Trip planner. I have done Leh Ladakh (by flight) in 2013 for a week during which I discussed the itinerary with you and as usual, you helped with information a lot.
    I am planning for Leh Ladakh this June end or July first week by road and my itinerary is as follows:
    Day1: Delhi to Solang
    Day2: Solang to Darcha
    Day3: Darcha to Leh
    Day4: Leh Rest Day
    Day5: Leh to Nubra
    Day6: Nubra to Leh
    Day7: Leh Rest Day
    Day8: Leh to Pagong Lake
    Day9: Pangong to Hanle/Umlingla
    Day10: Hanle to Tso Moriri
    Day11: TsoMorir to Sarchu/Pang
    Day12: Sarchu to Manali
    Day13: Manali to Delhi
    I will be driving by Baleno (4x2 manual hatchback) along with 3 people. I have driven on hills. Please suggest if this is the right itinerary. I have 2 weeks of time.
    Should I consider going via Srinagar Kargil?
    Should I change my month of travel?
    Should I rearrange my places of visit?
    Can I travel with Baleno to every point I mentioned? or should I look for other options.
    Our wishlist is Stargazing , Touching Umlingla, Safe adventure
    Thanks in advance

      Thank you bhai, just trying this new medium which people understand more than textual content on blog. Inputs on itinerary
      1. Jispa instead of Darcha should be your stay.
      2. Day 9 rest Hanle, Day 10 start early and visit Umling La in morning. Better stay at Hanle only but then if you don't have extra day travel to tso Moriri only.
      3. It's OK to plan from Manali side as above too. Just stay hydrated. If you wish to explor Srinagar Leh then only go from there.
      4. Month of travel is fine.
      5. No need to reaarange.
      6. Some sections will pose some challenges but follow leave early principle every day.

    Hi Dhiraj ji,
    Y r videos r always very much helpful. It was very helpful during my last Ladakh trip.(2016-17).
    I m planning to visit Zanskar-Ladakh in May last week. I planned my itinerary as below.
    Will do trip by private Taxi.
    Day-1. Arrival Srinagar night stay.
    D-2. Srinagar-Kargil n/s at Kargil.
    D-3. Kargil-Padum
    D-4. Padum sightseeing.
    D-3,4- n/s at Padum.
    D-5.- Padum-Phugtal-Purne-Jispa. (N/s either Purne or Jispa will prefer Jispa to avoid AMS)
    D-6. Jispa to Sumdo or Mahe bridge.
    D-7. Sumdo-Tso moriri-Chumur-Hanle.
    N/s- Hanle.
    D-8. Hanle-Demchok-Merak-Pengong-Tangtse
    N/s - Tangtse (avoid AMS)
    D-9. Tengtse to Leh.
    Is this itenerary is ok?? Or i should do changes?
    Please guide me.
    AMS is my prior consern.
    Thanks.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  7 месяцев назад

      Hello.. thank you for liking my content and am glad it is always helpful!! Here are my inputs:
      In your itinerary,
      Day 5, you should break the journey at Purne because after Phuktal trek you will be rushing a lot for Jispa. I understand the AMS concern, but for that you should spend one more night at Padum instead.
      Day 6, again May, not sure roads may open or at least stable/safe or not but you can try. Also, Sumdo will not have much options of stay, I doubt. Only very basic homestays if at all. So, you have to at least go to either Mahe or Tso Morir which will be cold and AMS wise, it will not be wise. So, better stay at Tso Kar on this day if you want to visit Tso Moriri. OR you can take it easy and go over to stay at Hemis or offbeat Teri village Cho House (check my latest videos on Teri Villages and Cho House)
      Day 7, it will change after my inputs I believe. Also, I took the Chumur route between Hanle and tso Moriri in September 2023, the road between Chumur to Hanle via Salsal La Pass was pretty bad and muddy. Unless you are used to such conditions and experience in driving.riding, I will say to avoid this route.
      Day 8, is also unrealistic covering Demchok and going all the way to Pangong Lake.
      Day 9, will change again.
      You are trying to cram too much into one trip which I will say either add more days or plan simple.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад

      Here are some estimates of full taxi
      Local sightseeing per day approx 5000, depends which area or monastery you are visiting.
      Kargil Padum 18K
      Leh Padum 20K
      Manali Padum 20 K
      Padum Purne Padum 10 K in one day.
      There is no fixed taxi costing from the Union and these are rough estimates that taxi folks charge up there. Consider +-10% to these numbers
      Sharing basis taxi shall cost around 2000-2500 per seat on these routes.

    Hi Dheeraj, your videos about Zanskar Valley are really great and very useful for us. Congratulations. We are Europeans and we are planning an overland trip from Belgium to Zanskar valley by road (1-1,5 month). Our objective is to be in Zanskar Valley by end of August/early September and in Ladakh by mid of September in order to attend Monastery Festival in Leh and around. Our plan is to enter India from Pakistan (as from August 20th) via Amritsar, then to Mandi, Jispa, Skinkula Pass, Purna and finally Padum. We would appreciate if you could tell us a bit more on weather conditions from Amritsar to Padum during that period of the year. Are there still heavy rains and risk of landslides or monsoon season approaching already its end ? Thanks in advance for any comment in that respect.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  4 месяца назад

      Thank you for appreciating the content on my channel. Your plan is giving me inspiration now :D ... Well, if you can delay the journey by a week or so while entering in Himachal, it will be much better. Usually with delayed weather patterns now a days, we see heavy rains all August mostly with rains subsiding like towards the end of August. That is not the right time to be in Himachal and then roads from Amritsar to Jispa is where you will face most challenges during monsoon. So, delaying it by a week or two and you plan the trip from Amritsar to Jispa to Zanskar to Ladakh in August end/September first week(ideal) would be much better.

Well, after following 4 days plan of itinerary that I shared in video and reaching Padum, you can stay for one day in Padum. There you can rest, go to Karsha monastery in evening. Now from Day 6, you have two options
      1. You can move to Kargil in two days staying overnight at Rangdum in between and then go to Srinagar and fly back.
      2. Go towards Leh via Sirsirla route (next video that I will publish) with overnight stay at Lamayuru. Then fly out or come back via Srinagar Leh or Manali Leh

    alternative road via Leh- Khaltsi- Before Lamayuru trun Left reach Wanla- SirSir la-Photoksar-Singay la- Lingshed - Zangla - Padum- Raru- Purne Gonboranjon- Shingkula- Darcha- Manali.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад

      Shailesh bhai, you can take this route but yes due to heavy snow up there at Shinku La Pass, there is alternate days traffic allowed. You should reach Padum first and then take rest there, may be take rest at Purne too after Padum. After that travel over Shinkula Pass on designated day for the direction from Purne towards Manali AND make sure of leaving early in the morning.
      It will be a bit risky at this point, so please take utmost precaution.
      The route from Kargil to Srinagar over Zojila Pass will remain closed for next couple of days due to avalanches at multiple places.

    Hey Dheeraj… As always, thank you for such an informative video. I was really looking forward to this one through Shinkula Pass. I have a few questions for you:
    1. On the way back, where should one stop and take a night break? Since AMS will no longer be a concern.
    2. Should one stay an additional day in Padum, does it have something to offer in terms of local sightseeing
    3. Should the return journey be through Jispa/Manali or via Kargil?
    4. On the way from Shinkula, can we halt in camps near Gombo Ranjan instead of staying the night at Purne. If so do you have any suggestions for camps.
    My apologies for so many questions.

      Well, here are my replies:
      1. On the way back, you can stay most places. AMS should not be much of a concern when returning unless you plan to spend night right on top of Shinkula which I will never recommend.
      2. Yes, stay in Padum. Visit Karsha/Zongkhul/Zangla or just rest, which is equally important.
      3. It will be new route if you return from Kargil side, you will see amazing Suru Valley. Watch previous of this series for more details on Kargil - Padum route.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад +1

      Well, I will give a route plan which is practical but for 30+ days I cannot suggest a fixed itinerary. You have to tweak the below route plan accordingly to have rest in between and relaxed trip. I will include Spiti Valley, Zanskar Valley and Ladakh.
      Day 1 - Delhi/Chandigarh to Narkanda
      Day 2 - Narkanda to Sarahan
      Day 3 - Sarahan to Sangla,
      Day 4 - Visit Chitkul come back to Sangla for night stay. Can spend a day in Chitkul if you want.
      Day 5 - Sangla/Chitkul to Kalpa
      Day 6 - Kalpa to Nako to Giu to Tabo
      Day 7 - Tabo to Dhankar to Pin Valley
      Day 8 - Pin Valley to Kaza
      Day 9 - Kaza Hikkim Komic Langza
      Day 10 - Langza Ki Kibber Gete Tashigang Kibber
      Day 11 - Kibber to Chicham to Kunzum to Chandratal
      Day 12 - Chandratal to Jispa
      Day 13 - Jispa to Shinkula to Purne
      Day 14 - Day trek to Phuktal Monastery
      Day 15 - Purne to Padum
      Day 16 - Padum Rest
      Day 17 - Padum to Rangdum
      Day 18 - Rangdum to Kargil
      Day 19 - Kargil to Leh
      Day 20 - Leh Rest
      Day 21 - Leh - Nubra Valley (Diskit/Hunder)
      Day 22 - Day trip to Turtuk
      Day 23 - Day trip to Siachen Base Camp
      Day 24 - Diskit/Hunder - Pangong Lake
      Day 25 - Pangong Lake - Hanle
      Day 26 - Day trip to Umling La Pass
      Day 27 - Hanle - Tso Moriri
      Day 28 - Tso Moriri - Sarchu

      @@discoverwithdheeraj , Ok, thx , just a few questions i will do the Leh- Manali route by motorbike , i will stay also in Jispa, from Jispa i would like to go to Purne to visit Phuktal Gompa. How is the road from Jispa to Purne, is it ok by motorbike or better take a car from Jispa to Purne? If i go by car how long will it take to get to Purne?

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад

      Mostly the road condition is dirt track and bad around Shinkula Pass and further all the way to Purne it is all dirt track/metalled road... Answering betwen Bike v/s Car will depend upon your experience with bike ride on dirt track kind of roads. About 5 hrs it may take to reach Purne from Jispa.

      @@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks again, i think after coming by motorbike from Leh i will go by car from Jispa to Purne, its more relaxing. What is a good spot to stay the night between Leh and Jispa , i did see Thukje, its close to Tso Kar, and does have a few homestays.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад

      Hmm that is a place or called Tso Kar lake village I think but I generally dont recommend staying in between whole going but since you would have done Purne and Phuktal trek, it shall be OK to stay there. Just stay hydrated. Also arrange the taxi from Jispa stay hotel in advance as it may not have taxis readily available

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад

      For hatchback/sedan taking on Manali - Leh Highway, Spiti Valley and Ladakh, I will say Possible = Yes, Difficult = Yes, at some places.
      You will indeed face few challenges on the route. The hatchback/sedan will increase the level of every challenge even further, sedan is the worst candidate. My suggestion will be to go via Srinagar route as it will help you feel comfortable with the driving, provide more acclimatization and then once you have done the local Leh-Ladakh, then come back via Manali side.
      Secondly, since you are in hatch/sedan, then you need to drive with extra care as well. There will be some sections on the Manali - Leh highway in which you might need to sacrifice some scratches on the underbelly. Just make sure you do not bump the engine sump (know it before where it is placed in your car). You need to protect it all around the trip.
      Thirdly, whenever in doubt do not rush into the section rather park aside and feel the section with your foot, see how other vehicles are crossing it and make a planned route in your mind to cross that section.
      Lastly, you should carry some important essential things for a self drive trip to Ladakh and for it, do check my video for reference ruclips.net/video/GW0crDklBYI/видео.html
      Also, I will strongly suggest that you go through and view my video on Spiti / Ladakh Self Drive tips at the links below: ruclips.net/video/Ld-6BgYYCYY/видео.html

    I am speaking from Bangladesh. Are Bangladeshis allowed to go anywhere in Ladakh?

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад +2

      Bangladeshi citizens also need to get permission from MHA, New Delhi to travel in Inner Line Areas of Ladakh including Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, and Tso Moriri. I am sorry but I am not 100% sure about how to apply for this permission in MHA, New Delhi. If you get to know please share with me too so that I can help other fellow travelers coming from Bangladesh as well. However, if you are unable to get the permission for visiting Ladakh, you may want to consider Zanskar Valley where I do not think any permit is required for foreigners.

    • @kenagrawal
      @kenagrawal Год назад +2

      You can visit Zanskar Valley, Suru Valley, Aryan Valley, Kargil and Leh.
      For Nubra, Pangong, Hanle and Tso Moriri you need to contact Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi.
