CLIP DESCRIPTION:
After losing his shipment, Al Capone (Robert De Niro) blows his top and threatens Eliot Ness.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Like the TV series that shared the same title, The Untouchables (1987) was an account of the battle between gangster Al Capone and lawman Eliot Ness, this time in the form of a feature film boasting big stars, a big budget, and a script from respected playwright David Mamet. Kevin Costner stars as Ness, a federal agent who has come to Chicago during the Prohibition Era, when corruption in the local police department is rampant. His mission is to put crime lord Capone (Robert De Niro) out of business, but Capone is so powerful and popular that Ness is not taken seriously by the law or the press. One night, discouraged, he meets a veteran patrolman, Jimmy Malone (Sean Connery), and discovers that the acerbic Irishman is the one honest man he's been seeking. Malone has soon helped Ness recruit a gunslinger rookie, George Stone (Andy Garcia), and, joined by nebbish accountant Oscar Wallace (Charles Martin Smith), the men doggedly pursue Capone and his illegal interests. At first a laughingstock, Ness soon has Capone outraged over his and Malone's sometimes law-bending tactics, and the vain mobster strikes back in vicious style. Ultimately, it is the most unexpected and minor of crimes, tax evasion, which proves Capone's undoing. All of the credits for The Untouchables boasted big names, including music from Ennio Morricone and costumes by Giorgio Armani. Director Brian De Palma continued his tradition of including a homage to past masters of the cinema with a taut stairway shoot-out reminiscent of a similar sequence in Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin (1925).

Hahahaha 😂 De’Nire is the 2Pac of acting 🐐🐐
@@shunmcdowell PERFECT COMPARISON also Pac was a damn good actor himself he brought that intense realism to the screen like De Niro did in his prime he would have been an Academy award winner if he was alive

So over the top, yet so tasteful. So exaggerated, yet somehow believable. So terrifying, yet so god damned funny!
De Niro is just a once in a lifetime actor.
Yes he is. Your statement totally encapsulates what this scene is , and what he is as an actor
You prolly worked with Eminem when he was composing Not Alike
bobbo plays azzwholes so good because he ain't acting FRD and his BF FJB
This is absolutely NOT exaggerated, Al Capone was the basis of the old timer gangster archetype, his voice was ridiculous and his personality was known to be higher than life
And it was SO short lol

Just wanna mention, Tony Sopranos breathing. Them couple of last season of Sopranos, Tonys breathing really was simply amazing at showing its presence lol

I’ll do you one better, imagine a movie where Robert Di Nero, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando and Jack Nicholson all play mob bosses in a heated gang war. Maybe have Gene Hackman as a burnt out detective, Denzel Washington as a morally ambiguous detective who does dirty police work with the end goal of breaking up the gangs and ending the gang war. Clint Eastwood as the retired police commissioner who feels like he waisted his entire career trying to fight the mobs only for them to continue to thrive after he retired. Morgan Freeman as the current police commissioner who tries to find a new way to fight the mobs off and finish what the previous commissioner started. Joe Pesci as a retired gangster, robert devull as a mob boss that faked his death and went into retirement. And Johnny Depp as the worlds deadliest hitman, who plays the mobs off each other because he has secretly infiltrated the underworld as an undercover cop. (Comment below if you know where I got some of these ideas from other movies)
This scene is so legendary that pac used it on the outro of “Death around the corner” and M24 on his song “No Cap”
UGK! Much respect.
I had this strong feelling that he want somebody dead.
The most gangster scene you'll ever get after Joe Pesci's "Funny how?" scene. And Pac sampled this too
So did Kool G Rap and DJ Polo

De Niro is very scary in that role, I think Al Capone would give him respects for that portrayal

+RUdigitized ok u want an Oscar now?
+040yeah WATCH YA MOUTH
YOU GOT NUTHINNNN
Play nice, children!
I will never understand how Robert De Niro could gain all this weight without killing himself!. WHAT A TRUE LEGEND!!
In the making of behind the scenes interviews, De Palma mentions that De Niro wanted to gain a lot more, but he narrowly squeezed this in between other projects and didn't have the time and also couldn't get super fat because he had to go straight into another role shortly after filming his Capone scenes. He only filmed for about two weeks (he doesn't have that much actual screentime in The Untouchables).
Beppo85 I know, when you take a step back he only has a hand full of scenes in this film, but his performance just dominates the screen. He’s like Brando in The Godfather, he only had a few scenes but his performance was so memorable and commandable.
Dude was a freak. He could get ripped af, and then fat af. Christian Bale is the only other person I've seen do it. And he took ot to the extreme
His voice was also featured in 2Pac's Death Around The Corner.
Don't forget Kool G Rap & DJ Polo's On The Run
Yessur!
@@karonbarwick541 They came out earlier
@@vicvega24 Oh OK
What an amazing performance by De Niro in this scene. When the Untouchables was released the wider viewing audience weren't really aware of De Niro even though his association with Scorcese was well know by cinema aficionados. For some he was still a bit of an unknown quantity which makes the limited screen time in the movie even more remarkable.
Saying Robert Deniro was an unknown quantity in 1987 is like saying Jesus wasn't really that well known in the year 0
@@ilovebrandnewcarpets to the wider mainstream audience he wasn't the most popular
I don’t think so Tim. After Taxi Driver, The Godfather 2, Ragging Bull, The Deer Hunter, and Once Upon a Time in America. I’m certain that Robert De Niro was a pretty big draw. In fact, was he not hired for this part because of his celebrity status? At the time the movie came out, him and Sean Connery were the biggest stars in the film. People sure as hell weren’t going to see it for Kevin Costner and Andy Garcia.
2 times Oscar winner before 1987 and still not known???

Deniro should have been nominated in Untouchables, Goodfellas, Casino, and This Boys Life. Some of the biggest crimes in Oscar history. They say Leo was an Oscar snub victum, but Deniro and Pacino (Scarface) were snubbed almost as much. As much nominations that Deniros has, he deserves that much more.
He also got overlooked in the 80s for The King of Comedy and Midnight Run. He should have won his 3rd Oscar for The King of Comedy.
