I know you Mara. I see you. You can’t strike fear in me. You manifest yourself in many ways. I see you everywhere. In my mind as doubts. In the world, as ideas, as Degeneracy, Politicians, Greed, Lust, ignorance. But know this,Mara. As you could not Defeat Lord Buddha, or the other Buddhas, you will not defeat me. I see you, Mara. I see you. Your visage is as clear as the sky above and the Oceans below. You hide yourself in broad daylight, often fooling the spiritually weak or ignorant into serving you. You have millions of minions, unaware of their servitude to you, others are your henchmen. But I can see your schemes. I know where you are at all times. Know this, Mara. I can see through the fog. I can see through your fog, Mara. And soon, as did The Buddhas, I shall help millions see through your fog. Soon, Millions will see you. Millions will see you, Mara. We see you. They see you. We won’t lose to you, Mara. This is one Battle you won’t win, Mara. Go home. Take a rest, Mara.
Thank you for posting this! The perspective given on awareness without extremity is really something to develop. Such a great teaching given in modern language.
luca marco Mindfulness could be said to the remembering of mental states and phenomena. Do you know which body part you move first to get up from a chair? This is related to mindfulness and remembering the movements. Attentiveness is the actual attending to the present moment with sharp clarity. It could almost be related better to non-personal presence in the moment. In English, we’ve kind of blended this all together into the word “mindfulness”. That’s probably what makes you wonder, but understanding the difference will serve you well.
Dennis Gaffney There is certainly a non-dualistic aspiration and realization in Buddhism. Then again, two separate perspectives need not be opposed. Like two eyes seeing from two different angles, it’s possible to gain a third perspective-depth. The concept of dualism fades as one has deeper realization, eventually leading to personal, clear seeing of this.
Yep. Right about the nature of humans to be distracted by the trivial. Like the starter of this conversation. Not listening to a learning about themselves through the talk but instead distracted by where speaker has hair.

Does the existence of Mara make Buddhism a dualist belief ?

Wouldn't Mara make Buddhism a dual thinking religion/philosophy ?
Dennis Gaffney only if you thought it was the same as Christianity's Satan. Mara is not the devil.
Mara is also a suffering being trapped in samsara as well.
Mara is also habit... reflexive thoughtless behaviors. And when confronting them the friction that one feels as they free themselves is called Mara.
Mara is the thinking of duality in Samsara, Nirvana is non-duality...where Nirvana and Samsara are one :)
mara is dualism, mara is your ego, its your desire
Great talk. I do wish they would stop shaving their eyebrows.
I never knew they did until you mentioned it! But don't let it distract you!
:)
I never noticed it either. If they grew, maybe they would be fly-away whiskery ones, like a Great Horned Owl.
