Katrina also sang on her wedding day celebration and that husband died just a few months later. So when she posted on her YT channel and sang Surrender (duet) it was really heartfelt. Her Whitney Houston medley live band one of my favorite.
Aside from her vocal talent, Katrina is musically gifted at interpretation. She chose to cover this song soon after the Juan's released, I think, for sentimental reasons

I think most OPM are sad songs because Filipinos in general are happy people and they need an outlet through song to express their negative emotions
