    My goodness! this is by far the best tutorial ever! Some artist don't even mention about the pixels in their tutorials when it comes to clean lines and I'm looking to improve my lines without having any spills or mess ups. I just got my new Surface Pro 7 and I'm looking to change things up a bit!

    thank you so much of these videos. I just got the program and have never worked on digital art before, you have helped me so much to figure out few stuff like the pixels and canvas size. because I had no idea what I was doing with those. It is wonderful that you actually take time and help others to figure stuff out. Huge respect for you for that. and again, thank you.

  • @Toonboxstudio
    @Toonboxstudio  11 лет назад

    its a combination of both! It just mean more pixels are being used so yeah the quality will be better. I always have it at 300 because i like to print my work too.

    Im using a Cintiq 24HD but i highly recommend any of the Cintiq series. It does give you an advantage when you are drawing but before these tablets came out... i was using an Intuos and i had the same results... i just needed to focus more :)

  • @Toonboxstudio
    @Toonboxstudio  11 лет назад

    its not about the pencil size. You just have to observe the line thickness and quality and just adjust it to either thinner or thicker. I usually test it by pressing down really hard to see the thick strokes and i adjust it to be the size that would please me when im pressing hard.

    Just had to say i've had my tablet and sketchbook pro for a couple of days now and this has been the most helpful thing I have seen, was wondering why everything looked so pixelated when I zoomed in, made smooth lines near impossible to get.
    Thanks so much for this.

  • @Toonboxstudio
    @Toonboxstudio  11 лет назад +1

    Thanks :)
    Once you set the canvas you have to start a new drawing. You cant fix your older pictures that were made on a lower resolution.

    Hi :) Welcome to my channel :)
    I use a Wacom Cintiq.

  • @Toonboxstudio
    @Toonboxstudio  11 лет назад

    I haven't done anything to my pen sensitivity. Of course that the better the tablet... the better the results :)
    And as for the steady stroke... i just use that for really complicated lines :)

    well for my cintiq... it has a small program installed in my start menu were it's for configuring my Wacom tablet properties buttons with a specific software. Search for your tablet properties and you should find it

    Yeah that is the PC version. The other thing i can think of is your tablet. What tablet are you using? The better the tablet the better the pressure sensitivity levels it has so that it can input more correctly your stylus.

  • @Elgnax
    @Elgnax 11 лет назад

    I saw that one also tbh, and that's what made me curious. I got the trial and im still struggling on perfecting my lineart but im sure if I go through your tutorial videos more thoroughly I'll be able to fix that. Thanks again for these, they're very helpful.

    This worked for me at first, but I just started using a Cintiq. In the same program, with the same settings and equipment, my pencil still makes very faint marks unless I press REALLY hard. There are no advanced options for the default pencil - did you replace it with a different one? Could it be an issue with the pen, and not the program? Where can I go in to edit such settings? Thanks.

    • @cdub9416
      @cdub9416 11 лет назад +7

      I think I figured out the issue. I was having the same troubles. Go to Edit stylus responsiveness and make it less responsive. Also go to edit and steady stroke and move it towards more. This makes the lines darker and less wavy.

    Funny how I've been working in photoshop for so many years and pretty much have all my new documents open in 300dpi at 8.5x11... never thought I'd need to do this for sketchbook pro... HA!
    Thanks man, really appreciate it!

  • @Toonboxstudio

    When i sketching... i use the whole canvas fit to view! When im adding details... i zoom in. When im cleaning up...i zoom in even more :)

    That is a pretty big canvas. Comes to something like 14"x7.5" when you divide the height or width by the rez. Awesome work!

    Very informative. What cintiq tablet are you using, do personally feel that the screen improves your work rather than using for example wacom tablet and would you consider making a video showing your setup and workflow using the cintiq?

    First, thanks again for this tip, I knew about the dpi, but was never sure what res to put my canvas at. :)
    Quick Question: for the sketching, to get the shadows etc, is that still with 300 dpi if the pencil tool is still that dark with little to no pressure? or am I missing something?

    It sounds like a technical issue. So i recommend you send a message to either Wacom or Sketchbook Pro and they will give you the answer. I've tried this on the intuos tablets and Cintiqs and they work just fine.

    Just a question, if you could help; for some reason, when I open up preferences and go to canvas, all that shows is the "enable canvas scroll bars" option, but nothing else! I got my Sketchbook Pro when I bought my tablet, does that mean I don't have all the options that other people get...? Or is something just wrong??

    My lines are jet black, but the still seem thinner than yours. All the settings are the same, but they don't get that thickness about them at any zoom level. I don't know if it's just my computer or if these would look differently when printed or anything. It's hard to preview my work like this though. Any ideas?

When I use the pencil tool and draw something with my Wacom bamboo tablet, the line appears grey, not black. good video good beginner stuff I usually work on a giant canvas myself and I guess this was just part of my early instructions that actually had forgotten all about showing someone that but it's really good to know it's kind of a stretch for you I'll say relativity is a good word just make sure you always think about your relativity and my what am I looking at really is it because the computer screen can be very deceiving but he has a way of showing you inside so I don't know what your level but also to it can be applied to anywhere in your skill-set
