Really doesn’t matter as long as you’re not putting a bunch of weight on it. I’ve mounted 1000s of TVs and have done it both ways never broken a screen
fishing the wire across at least 1 stud, with insulation, seems like the hardest part. And skipped over.😅
How did you get the cables from above the fireplace out threw the hole at the bottom? Seems like the most important part… 🤦🏻♂️
How did you secure the patch? Seemed like you put mud in the whole then shoved the piece in there then put mud over

Sure... find wooden beams, mount the bracket, make pathway for cables, patch the wall back and that's it 😄
