I agree with you 100%, here. I am a devout Hindu and, prior to having to pivot into publishing during this Covid pandemic, I was studying towards becoming a neuropsychologist (due to my pacemaker rendering me immunocompromised, working at a medical facility or laboratory is no longer an option for me as a career; hence the necessity for me to pivot) but my past main area of interest in the brain was/is how, exactly, our neurobiology relates to consciousness and seemingly paranormal phenomena. It's true, many persons living with mental illness might have their psyche's steeped into areas of the brain which enable them to have premonitory capabilities, and even scientifically unexplainable bouts of telepathy...but that does NOT necessarily make them sages of yore like Agastya, Marichi, Vishwamitra, etc., nor are they necessarily like that of near-modern siddhars such as Śivathondan Yogaswamigal of Jaffna, Ramana Maharishi, or Neem Karoli Baba.
We're living in the 21st Century, now. We have to start merging our shastric past with that of the progressiveness of our current scientific times heading into the future. Sadhguruji is a tremendous advocate of this upwards swing towards Sanatana Dharma perfectly harmonizing with modern science. ... That said, it's nice to see that India, our matrabhumi, politely deifies some of it's mentally ill citizens; but this level of communal ignorance comes at a cost. And the cost is that we do not move forward as a nation. Nor do we move forward as a people. In these times of such extreme technological advancement, we should strive to help people like this innocent woman by giving her the psychiatric treatment which she so compassionately needs and rightfully deserves.
