While it kinda makes sense, think about it. Ainz told him his plan of leveling the kingdom. To what kingdom would his brother return to ruin if there is none left.
@@ChesterZirawin I get your point...however Zanek and almost all the royal family hated the eldest brother as he was basically a puppet, string for string for the Nobles to eventually gain power for themselves fully. Ainz respects one thing the most and that's loyalty. He's shown it a few times. First time, saving Gazef during the Carne Village raid by the theocracy. Second time after meeting the adventuring team Swords of Darkness, and seeing their killing brought to justice. Third time, during the Nazerick exploration trap, allowing the girl to be killed swiftly, unlike her companions. Then on the Kaste plain fighting against Gazef, holding the strongest loyalty to his kingdom, in order to protect it. Aside from possibly holding similar levels of respect for Gazef to Prince Zanac after speaking with him, he despises disloyalty. What the noble's did, showed him one of his greatest sins. This scene made a huge impression on me. Ainz decided to annihilate them for the sake of his loved ones. And in order to confirm this, Zanuck went alone as a general to Ainz, who was far stronger than him. During the meeting, Zanuck may have even thought about being killed by Ainz. Of course, Ainz had no intention of killing Zanuck outside of war, so they talked as equals and the discussion became parallel. Both Ainz and Zanuck had a mutually respectful meeting, and were able to understand each other even if they were unable to accept the cruelty. If they had met at a peace conference instead of on the battlefield, they would have become best friends and understanding. Ainz is unable to keep his promise to "give Zanuck a peaceful death" and feels great regret and anger. As a commentator myself, Zanuck is my favorite character in Overlord. I'm sad that this is the end of his role. Even though it's 2024, I often revisit Overlord lol
it seems that some people here think Zanac is a jerk noble, plus his posture is quite legitimately categorized as a bad noble like in other anime, but after seeing this episode, I myself quite appreciate Zanac because it is very good and very good people can have a better life good -F for Wise King Candidate
well Zanac is a jerk. he's an ass, and he held little trust in anyone. He was very mean to his sister but considering how much of a snake she is, there is little doubt he didn't know what she was. He was very mean to his eldest brother, but when you consider what a POS his elder brother was you can understand that. The problem the audience has is they never saw him from his POV. We are introduced from Renner's POV, and by the time we start to figure out what a duplicitous snake she is our opinion of Zanec is tainted. But when looked at from the outside, he might have been one of the few good people in the kingdom. He feared his sister, but he knew she was a genius so he tried at least to take her seriously (even if he didn't trust her anywhere near the capital), he loathed his father's mishandling of the kingdom and the idiot nobels. In the end it's not that Zanec did an about face in this episode, he's always been on the "side of angels" we've just been watching the show from the POV of various devils.

Watching back I now understand why Zanec wanted to make sure his brother was dead or killed, he wanted to make sure that either he wasn't working for Ainz or that he couldn't come back for the throne when he died to ruin the nation even more than it already was.
While it kinda makes sense, think about it. Ainz told him his plan of leveling the kingdom. Making an example out of them by raising it to the ground and leaving it as such for a constant reminder of what happens when you cross the Sorcerer Kingdom. To what kingdom would his brother return to ruin if there is none left.
@@ChesterZirawin I get your point...however Zanek and almost all the royal family hated the eldest brother as he was basically a puppet, string for string for the Nobles to eventually gain power for themselves fully. Also Zanek had planned to actually win no matter what, so it wouldn't be hard to believe that he still had that mindset up till his death. Meaning Zanek wasn't even considering losing which is why he moreso asked if his brother was dead to ponder if he would become a later threat or if he may have been the spy in their network feeding info.
Even if the brother were to return to rubble he could become a thorn in everyones sides later on just simply by being a annoyance. But was maybe pondering him showing up to throw a rebellion (which happened anyway by the brothers puppet masters) or even something else...though what idk.

He was too good for the kingdom
zanac was a great man. i will also be pissed if i was ainz. he did a right decision sending them to the neuronist
i think this is second time Ainz really angry for people outside Nazarick, first the adventures he travel with, now with Zanac
Ainz really care for people he respected.
u forgot the worker thieves that invade nazarick in season 3
@@toffen5454 I think what they meant was that Ainz was angry FOR said person. He was angry AT the tomb raiders. He was angry FOR the adventurer group and Zanac.
@@toffen5454 He gave them a choice already and basically gave a fair warning as momonga. That’s why he said “then my question was foolish” somewhere along that line. They were made up of people who was willing to kill for money. I mean it’s survival of the fittest at that point.
The talk showed Ainz that someone has some sense as well as someone worth putting his gaze on(remember that he's monitoring Jircniv for the sake of copying him to become a better ruler). He succinctly summed up what he's planning for Re-estize(that's after considering pestonya and nigredo's plea). Then after, he was showed the head of the very person that interested him.
Imagine looking for games and you finally found something that's worth your time only to realize that majority of it's gameplay is locked behind a paywall. You'll lose interest quickly. That's probably what happened to Ainz knowing full well the kingdom is riddled with people similar to those nobles.
Ainz was actually having doubts about this War, but he was reminded about human greed, something he knew too well from his old world
The first time, when I found Zanac I thought he is a dump and a selfish man but finally, not at all he is such a good royal man ever I've seen in this anime. Big respect for Zanac and RIP to the true king

Like he say before he is hypocrite lol
Man I was just starting to love Zanac, beside having massive ball, he act and think very maturely. He even keep his morale code as royalty to fight to the end despite being outnumbered.
When Ainz blatantly said he will massacre every single one of them and turn their empire into nothing but rubble just for the sake of chasing his own personal happiness, or admit that one of his subordinates did indeed kill his late brother, Zanac still able to maintain his composure and accept it like it was some normal thing to hear in a conversation. Any normal person would immediately start cursing the hell out of Ainz or simply beg for his mercy. Wish i could see more Zanac in action. 😭😭😭
Zanac just wanted his nation to be respected. He stood up like warriors and think like a king.
The willingness to stand before and even beside the Sorcerer King with no fear of death while holding loyalty and resolve for his Kingdom is what makes Zanac a true king. Its pitiful that he'll never be able to do so
Ainz has every right to massacre the Re-Estize Kingdom
Not really , there is no right in murdering innocent citizens , absolutely no right and no reason expect if u r evil and thats whats ainz is , he isnt a good kind mc who saves people lol he is the bad guy in this story

Ainz promised a gentle death to Zanic so those nobles ruining that got them the worst sentence imaginable.
Zanac could've made the kingdom prosper but Jircniv methods had already destroyed the kingdom from within well before ainz even got there, not to mention gazef would've died against the fire scriptures. They had not enough food, crime rates were at an all time high, corruption was rampant and the empire was constantly harassing them with wars during the harvest season. Only a miracle could've saved them.
That miracle would've been the death of Prince Barbro. Maruyama confirmed that if Ainz hadn't meddled with them but Zanac took the throne, the Kingdom would've improved greatly from his work. Rip the king.
@@Sassaparilla i think zanac and marquis raeven can take the king's throne, after becoming king zanac will hold the royal faction and raeven is one of the most influential in the noble faction, and maybe they can unite the 2 factions so that there is no civil war when the dismissal of the corrupt nobles

この回は見事にアインズの地雷ぶち抜いたよなー😂ザナックの生き様カッコよかったのに…😢
聖王国編最高だったぜ👍
"Holy Kingdom" was the best😂😂😂

He died standing, a true king till the very end.
-Shame! Shame on the House of Ptolomies for such barbarity.
-But... you are enemies?
-He was a consul of Rome!
Zanac is true prince

Interesting seeing Clementines brother from the Black Scripture
it seems that some people here think Zanac is a jerk noble, plus his posture is quite legitimately categorized as a bad noble like in other anime, but after seeing this episode, I myself quite appreciate Zanac because it is very good and very good people can have a better life good -F for
Wise King Candidate
well Zanac is a jerk. he's an ass, and he held little trust in anyone.
Thanks for the video bro.
Dang... It is what it is, Zanac. Pouring one out for you. The last true noble. 🍷
First time i see ainz get really angry because hekeran lied about ainz's friends, second time is seeing zanac's head. The one king who has his respect and cant wait for ainz get really mad because he finally know the only thing which brainswashed shalltear is slaine theocracy. So mad until the emotional limit cant hold it anymore.
He's actually way more angry than it shows in the anime when lupusregina messed up her task so I'll count that as well in the episode of "don't make ainz angry"
@@mogosbinted7660 Also when Ainz realized that someone took control of Shalltear using a World Item, and Wish Upon the Star didn't work, which means he must kill her in order to break the mind control.
@@mediumtext8038 he was also really pissed at himself, as he believed he had been negligent.
I know the centre is Zanac's death, but no one talking abt the Member of The Black Scripture, they are pretty strong and equal to Battle Maids Pleiades. I hope they are get more screen time to show what they power
Lets not forget this all wouldn't have happened if the humans hadn't attacked Ainz first. Most of these kingdoms would be a independent if they stayed in their place, but greed and power spoiled them and has gotten many of their people killed.
Zanac was a real one. a display of true nobility. not like those greedy and selfish noble. he would've been a great king.
Ains really respect him and man did he got mad what happen to him
The worst part of this?
They actually damned themselves. Ains was considering calling off the massacre and instead just enslaving them as a vassal state because of his respect for Zanac and his willingness to try to negotiate for the lives of his people, damn the costs.
By killing him, they sealed their fates. That's what Ains meant at the end by, "I've lost interest". Zanac had piqued his interest, even if just a little, and to someone like Ains that might be all you need to stay alive (and out of Neuronist's clutches) like the other humans he knows. The WORST thing you can do is make him not care about you.
thanks man🤟

Mad respect to Zanac. Even Ainz gave him a proper burial, that's never happened before. His siblings is disgusting. First, his brother, such an idiot who wanted to be king to fulfill his arrogance. Second, his sister sells her soul and any information about her kingdom to an evil being. They are bad products of the human race, but at least Zanac died as a human with pride and respect from his enemies. F
That dude looks like a male version of clementine maybe siblings cause if not that is just lame design to make and zanac doesn't deserve that. :(
In the LN its confirmed that he is indeed Clementine's brother. Though i hoped him to look slightly less similar because how he looks is just freaky.

Actually in the novel Ainz was having reservations in massacring the remaining people of the Kingdom after his discussion with Zanac. The respect he developed for the would-be king was that strong Ainz was willing to change the plan and accept their surrender.
Until the nobles f*cked everything up with their “tribute” to Ainz. Hence why Ainz said “I’ve lost interest.” meaning any doubts he might have had about the massacre had been completely resolved. He no longer cared if it was just or amoral, Ainz just wanted this rotten kingdom destroyed.
