    We have been going to Busch Gardens since 1978. It is one of our favorite places. We live in Delaware but manage a trip almost every year. If not in the summer, for Christmas or Howl-O-Scream. It has changed but most things have changed in our technologically advanced world. If there weren't any changes they wouldn't be in business. But I believe they have a good balance between rides for the adventurous who crave the thrills of rollercoasters while still offering the fun areas for children. The food is better than most amusement parks and the shows are delightful. If you have a mix of young children and teens this is a great place to visit at any price!

    I haven’t been to Busch Gardens since senior year of high school in 2007. It changed a lot but I’m going to take my nieces and nephews since they have never been at the end of May. 😊

    I agree with you on the vibe of of the park. My parents used to bring us when we were kids and it was a very family friendly place. I have kids now and unfortunately it does not have that same feel when we go there. Still always hits home when we go but wish my boys could enjoy it the same way I did.

    I haven't been here since 2003! We got on the Rapids ride they use to have. We just jumped on Apollo's Chariot, when the the coaster stopped operating for some reason. We got off only to find the entire park had lost power! We walked around from 1130am till 3pm waiting for the power to come back on. It never did. So we left. As people were leaving, they were handing out free passes to return within a years time. We haven't been back since. 20yrs. I only live 4hrs away. I remember how pissed off i got bc leaving the park at that time, we got stuck in rush hour traffic trying to get back to Delaware.

    32:23 Pantheon did not take place of Roman Rapids (Roman Rapids still exists but has been closed for 4 years). I do not understand why they would name it Pantheon when the Pantheon is Greek and has nothing to do with an Italian street carnival theme.

      It's a Roman temple

    The Italy-Germany bridge is back open (partially) now. They're still working on parts of it but they have a narrow path for guests to use now. Also slight correction, the water park is Water Country USA, not Waterworld. That was a terrible Kevin Costner movie in the 1990s, lol.

    Pantheon didn't not 🚫 take the place of Roman Rapids. That ride is way in the back of Festa Italia. You did not go further back. They utilized a portion of land never used for Pantheon itself. My Father heloed build the initial park back in the 70's. He went to the employee Grand Opening back in '75 with My family. The parts of what he built are no longer there.

    For the record the bridge is already back open thankfully! This is my home park and I know it intimately. I agree the park has gotten more generic and less themed over time, particularly the lack of theming for Pantheon is abysmal. It’s a great ride but plopping it in an empty field with a boring gray box as a station and nothing to entertain you in the queue is such a wasted opportunity. It’s concept art showed it having many decorations like statues and Roman architecture, but sadly they didn’t go for it. Nevertheless, it’ll always be my favorite park in the world ❤ There are a few things that you didn’t mention or film, like a cute and quiet indoor craft bar area in the Festhaus building, and Roman Rapids the white water raft ride which is also operating again! Overall still a great video though, it’s great to walk around the park virtually when I’m not there.

    Even though the bridge between Octoberfest and San Marco is closed, I remember being able to walk down hill beside the Loch Ness Monster, toward the Rhine River Cruise, then up the hill to Germany.
    Is that still accessible?

      @jayducharme  Год назад +1

      Yes, but it’s a pretty exhausting hike. The San Marco bridge has now reopened, BTW.

    Ok…when are you headed to Carowinds? You gotta see Fury. It is everything. As you made mention however about all the thrill rides, keep in mind Busch Gardens Williamsburg is competing directly against Kings Dominion which is owned by Cedar Fair. They have to have the thrill rides to go up against them. You are correct though. The park needs to keep the charm because Busch Gardens’ theming is one of the things that sets them apart from other parks. I have always loved your tours.

    I can’t believe you mentioned the Escape from Pompeii area soundtrack!!! It does indeed feel very tense. I wonder why the park tuned most of the songs half a pitch higher than their actual sound.

    I've never been here, but it sounds like they're trying to get rid of their roots, to a degree at least. A building that once had German food, now has a granted a classic, but a regular hot dog. This makes me concerned about the park, what's going to happen 20 years, will the theming be gone? It looks pretty, I've only been to six flags New England and Canobie lake park, Bush gardens Williamsburg looks amazing compared to those 2, but what's going to happen in 20 years? It still looks cool, a place that I want to visit.

      @@jayducharme It's still in the same place, straight back past Pantheon & Turkish Delight. I don't know if it was like this when you were there, but for a while they had it fenced off. It actually just reopened this past weekend from what I've seen/heard. One reason I believe it was closed for a while was to allow easier access for construction on Pantheon.
      I don't know if this part is true or not, but I had heard they had ordered new/larger rafts for it and they were too big for the existing structure of the ride, so either they must've refurbished it or got smaller ones to replace those, not sure which.

    6:00 I try to tell them this all of the time and they don't seem to realize how much further and further it is to being close to a park that would be owned by the six flags chain. It's so sad to see it looking like this nowadays. Once Big Bad Wolf was removed, the park started going way down hill. It does suck how all of the food has turned into food straight from a frozen food aisle rather than homemade in the park.

    • @jayducharme
      @jayducharme  Год назад

      There's no easy way. DarKoaster is at the completely opposite end of the park. If you're walking, go straight through Scotland, down the hill near Loch Ness Monster and then up into Germany, then across the bridge into Oktoberfest. You could take the sky ride in England to France, and then from France to Germany, but that would actually take longer.
