- Christmas 2021
Though it in the deep Pandemic,
In Cork city,,
We again, stir ourselves,
Preparing for our Christmas giving.
I pass the popular Brown Thomas,
And admire those Christmas icons in Guineys,
And the calling of the brightly lit windows.
The diverse street players catch my ears,
I observe a street artist,
Exhibiting his latest creation,
And I glance into Dubray,
The latest Cork bookshop,
Where I spot old Haughy and McGahen,
Waiting for readers to buy their tales.
And the ever famous English Market,
Draws me in,
And where I talk to a man
Selling tea shirts.
After roaming the streets,
I pray at the crib in St. Augustine's.
Then I saunter down that River Lee,
And listen to the Share girls,
Wishing the world
A Happy Christmas!
Loved it! Thank you Tony from Karen in New Zealand. It really was beautiful....such wonderful memories we have of our time in Cork where my ancestors came from.
Great to hear from you again Karen -thank you! hope you and yours are all well.
