- This is one the songs The Beatles played for their audition for Decca Records on January 1st, 1962. Though the performance by Paul is extraordinary and the harmonies by George and John are razor sharp and as tight as they ever were The Beatles were rejected and another band now forgotten were signed. The song was written by Consuelito Velazquez who is a Mexican songwriter!
Consuelo Velázquez was 19 years old when she composed this song (and she had never kissed anyone). It is the most performed and recorded Mexican song in history. Fun fact: Paul's father was very fond of listening to Mexican music, especially boleros. That's where Paul's taste for this song came from. The influence of boleros and Mexican trios can be heard in And I Love Her, Till There Was You, Do You Want to Know a Secret, etc.
Paul was 19 years old in this recording.
It sounds like it should be in a Quintin Terantino movie
Paul's voice is sounding great here.
"they were rejected"💀💀
I am disgusted by the Warnock commercial.
Decca Records rejected the Beatles, saying "guitar groups are on the way out" and "The Beatles have no future in show business"
John Paul George and Pete
The Beatles were so versatile, even in their earliest recordings. What an awesome, unique cover!
No one sings it like Tino Rossi
Grandes! Juan, Pablo, Jorge y Ricardo
Honestly my favourite version, it's so good sends me to heaven 😭
Cha-cha-boom!
Chatting with a professor of music in Liverpool I mentioned that I could hear a LOT of latin influences in The Beatles music. "And I Love her" is a bolero, so is "Anna" "I will" etc and Ringo had a great feel for latin polythyrims . This professor mentioned that at that time mid 1950s Liverpool was a HUGE international maritime port and all the sailors would bring back records from the USA and Latin AMerica , but the older people in Liverpool liked the latin stuff like Cha-Cha, Rumba etc so that is what The Beatles heard as little kids. There was also this fascination with horse riding boots with "Cuban Heels" that somehow made it to the final Beatle look . So the "Boys" were international transatlantically famous even before they were famous.
I am Brazilian. I'm 55 years old! The Beatles is the best band ever had! There will never be another one! Paul McCartney is very talented!
Y PENSAR QUE LOS RECHAZARON CUANDO AUDICIONARON PARA LOS ESTUDIOS Decca. Pero luego EMI si tuvo el cerebro de aceptarlos.
-very good thing that Decca rejected them, so they could meet George Martin att EMI then instead.
