Great video, just been gifted a lamp. Unfortunately the magnet lock mechanism was solid so I’ve had to drill it out from above, looking forward to the restoration/cleaning Many thanks 👍
Thanks for this but your previous version was pretty clear and thanks to you my 2 lamps are up and running. In fact I used one during a power cut a few days ago.
I will soak over night the fuel cap released very easy thank you again for your info it is in great condition and only cost £36 at auction today inc of fees 😊
Good Afternoon again my lamp is up and running but I can find nowhere who can sell me a wick? Everything seems to have some kind of man made substance where do you buy your wicks please Tim

Hi. I have my grandads type SL protector lamp. I’m struggling undoing the bottom. I’ve got the magnet lock open but just can’t unscrew it. Any recommends? Thanks very much
@@craigsinyorkshire try plenty of wd40 around the fuel cell where it meets the bottom of the middle section. Sometimes old polishing residue gums up the lamp. If this doesn't work I've put a rag around the lamp and put it in a vice, just be careful of the lock as these can easily be knocked off.
Thanks for this service video. Sorry, but my hearing isn't the best, so could you please provide the names of the flint sources you mentioned in writing ? Thanks again, Mike 🙂
Hi just acquired a lamp and the bottom section is it seems impossible to undo I think the video is great but I can't start doing anything because it is all solidly locked together? I think it has been very well polished over the years help please
Some lamps get stuck up with brasso polish residue. Try spraying WD40 on the join between the fuel cell and the middle section of the lamp. Also, make sure the sliding pillar in the middle section is free to move slightly, sometimes these can dig into the fuel cell which makes it hard to unscrew.

Hi can I send you photo please
Sometimes these lamps can be a pain to open. Patience is the key.
I am concerned about damage but I will proceed with care thanks
@@timothycope8493just be careful around the lock part as it's only soldered on.

@@Traveling-Lite hi, the flints I normally use for Protector lamps are the zippo flints, I've found them to be really good.
