@@joannajamerson35 Haha!!! So was I, talking about acid and Nitzer Ebb! Then I read the original comment. Then your response. Nitzer Ebb and acid. Together like bullets and guns.
I just discovered this great song hearing it played on the MTV Classic channel in June 2023, although it reminds me of music I’ve heard at goth/industrial clubs over the years 🎶 🎵
I've been trying to put this song into a genre or bucket and haven't been able to. This description I think fits better than any other I could imagine. Very addicting song.
it's just techno, in its purest form, before most people even knew what that was. check out the band meute nowadays for an even bigger techno horn section.
@@ActuallySanFrancisco Dude without front 242 there wouldn't Be techno, this song came out when Trance evolved in techno , in like 1990 , Nitzer ebb always be Electronic body music Industrial, this song also has Swing on beats 120 tempo .
NE is the best Depeche Mode opening act ever! They rocked the house and nearly stole the show from the DM guys! Love NE to this very day! Join In the Chant!
1990, I bet that was a great show! There were a lot of great tours that year, in retrospect. I was only 16 at the time, but I've caught nearly every DM tour since then ... 5 in total, and they've probably toured 6-7 times since '90. Violator Tour, I bet was great though, especially with Nitzer Ebb opening.
The first time I heard Nitzer Ebb was my first DM concert. They were the opening act of the Depeche Mode - World Violation Tour. Brings a smile to my face!
You have to have instinct to underterstand that music and to know whats all about .one of the best songs ever done in the 80s kids nowadays dont even think in know it.... classic!
Saw them open for Depeche Mode, on the World Violation tour, in July of 1990, in Dallas. It was a great show. It was HOT (98°F) everywhere- hotter in that hole, I'm sure. Nitzer Ebb were dressed in black, and they spent themselves, dancing around like madmen, while screaming and beating out a good show. It was nice. Too bad there's no video from back then... now everyone has a camera, but they don't believe what used to happen before anyone had one. "Can I film this?" Leave your camera outside.
I was at the Summerfest show in Milwaukee when they opened up for DM and their sequencers froze. I think it was like 1991. It was fun. A cutting edge music technology for the time!
whenever they play this song at the clubs, i instantly drop whatever im doing and rush to the floor to lose all the energy i happen to have at the moment. one of my faves to dance to.
120 Minutes didn't play stuff like this, very often. They were always trying to promote the latest "grunge" band at the time. "Post Modern MTV" I think it was called, back in the late 80s and early early 90s, was the predecessor to 120 Minutes, and they actually played stuff like this. It was on at midnight every Saturday, I think.
This track is what made me start liking electronic music especially techno, take away the lyrics and this is a straight techno track from early 90s that you'd hear Richie hawtin or someone spin at a warehouse party...that and this song found me one of the first times I ever smoked pot and I said Damn wtf is this madness! Never heard much like it before then and that acidy bass line just hooked me.
@larrydallas51st Medusa's was crazy, people had to be there to realize how great those times were in Chicago. Between Medusa's, SmartBar, Neo, Exit and the PowerPlant, it was definitely a fantastic time to be dancing. Even the mixes on the radio were cool.
This was always one of my favorite NE tracks. Along with the Belief remixes, such as Shame, Hearts & Minds, etc. I love those tracks as much today as I did back then. I remember I had a cassette tape I made up that had the remixes on it. Played the hell out of it. I had a 12" of Lightning Man that was a slightly different version. I nice piece of thick plastic with Who We Are on the back. I like that version the best. Perfection if you ask me.
saw them three times in concert in the 80's, moshing with the boys at the front defying my boyfriend at the time much to his disgust! TOUGH! Found their music that perfect mix of punk aesthetics and angst but musically interesting too, great to dance to too!
5 of 2300 in mine,it wasn't till after HS that more people started appreciating it..They had no choice because thats what i played in my car,and 3/4 at my parties.thanks for the post and memories.
I used to bust out dancing to this track at Club Confetti (aka Xenon - the Ferrari of nightclubs) in Salt Lake City with all the goths circa ‘93-‘94! Good times.
@edithbunkerz I don't argue that, but they commented as if this music was to be found causally everyday on MTV. Those programs were designed for a niche market at best. This was not the popular music of the day. The fact that those programs came on at such odd times prevented many people from ever watching them. I'm not sure what you mean by "all other music" because most of the alternative music of that day was still to be found only on radio. Today we have everything at the tips of our fingers
I opened for Nitzer Ebb last year here in San Francisco at Folsom Street Fair...what a show! I am Robot Bomb Shelter. Check me out here on RUclips or on my band page.
