Awesome demo....i have got the Sterling Sub Silo. And i was amazed about the build quality and features. I bought it 2nd hand as i never Saw any Sterling in a store.
Just bought a Cutlass, partly after viewing this cast, and I am so glad i did. This guitar plays like butter right out of the store. The soft V shape isn't something I'm used to, but it seems to guide my paw to position itself better. The pickups seems at least good, too. I *may* upgrade them after a while, but I'm going to try to live with them for a year or so before I decide that: there's no instant 'this is great but it needs better pups' feeling at all. I traded in a new CV 60's Strat on it, and I'm not looking back at all.
The 2022 versions of this HSS were just on sale for $400. I can’t believe the value in this guitar. I’m a G&L guy, but damn, this is an incredible guitar for the price. It would have been a great value at $550! Can’t believe I got it for $400!
@@andyws0108 so far pretty good. the bridge is kinda not all that great tuning stability using the whammy bar wise but it gets the job done. i got the HSS in firemist silver i think its callled. no real complaints honestly i just find the pickups a little whiny sounding when im trying to play polyphia stuff but i think thats more of an eq thing cuz idk what im doing. overall solid guitar
I like the silver colour shown through the video, but stock photos and even the thumbnail made me think this firemist silver is more blue than silver.. Thanks for the review.
Regarding the set-up and QC at the California facility.... does this apply if you purchase one from Musician's Friend, Sweetwater, etc? Like, will it arrive ready to play and without any issues?
Would this be a good first guitar? I've been looking into getting a fender player strat as my first electric guitar but these are just so nice with the already installed lock in tuners. Just want to hear the difference between the HSS and the SSS to make a decision.
Just picked mine up today. Never thought I would own a stratocaster (I play a lot of doom metal, so Ive always avoided single coil pickups). I love this thing, especially for the price! Many things also make up your tone, not just pickups like amp and pedals. Id say go for this guitar if you like the strat tone and adjust to your play style (maybe a pickup swap).
@@gfunktuba1 hopefully you’ve already gotten him one, but if not, this would be a fantastic first guitar. It comes already well setup and ready to play right out of the box. I’m a full time keyboardist who plays with the guitar, just got this one after trying a couple others in a slightly lower price range that were junk, and TOTALLY LOVE IT!! Hope your kid has fun learning. Making music is THE BEST!!
Strings are not perfectly centered (6:54) , the dot inlay should be centered perfectly between D & G strings, as a result, the thin E may slip down the fretboard. In my personal opinion, I consider this as a quality control issue.
I live far away from music stores so it can get expensive trying things out. Lol. So far the RG series is the best feeling. I have a hard time with Les Pauls. I need to try an SG. I didn’t mind my strat and regret selling it. I may give this one a go.
I don't think you'd be sorry you gave this guitar a try. But if you want a good-feeling SG for that double-hum, 24.75" scale sound, I'd suggest trying Epiphone's SG Modern Figured. It has a *very* nice neck carve, and yes, it's easier-playing to me, at least, than my Epi Les Paul Standard. I don't think you can go wrong with it.
Great review! I’m getting ting this guitar today. Compared it to the Ibanez AZES, Squier Classic Vibe, Harley Benton, etc. (could not find a Sire S3 to compare but Sires are hard to come by in stores.). Very Stratty single coil tones - even Strattier than my Classic Vibe - and nicely balanced humbucker. In my experience you never really miss the coil split because it works better in theory than in practice. The neck is what really sold me, plus a truly sweet neck pickup. Very nice playing too!
I snagged a ct 50 plus in white has the mid boost great little guitar I got it for 300 was amazed by the half price I found it for and nothing wrong with it
The truss rod access where it is....is considered a plus by some. Easy use, only found on the high end Fenders. Aesthetically, I guess it could be not loved by some. One question...Any Neck dive, when sitting or standing??? Thank you ❤️ Super Great review !!!
@@GuitarZero2Hero Thanks for getting back. My search for a Fender style has, however, already culminated. I ordered a used Partscaster (Tele) from Reverb, and it's on the way! I really enjoyed your video, however. Thanks 👍
Was wondering if this neck is suitable for someone with small hands? I normally play acoustic (Martin and Taylor) and was wondering if the neck has a similar profile.
I’d get into a guitar store and get your hands on it. At least with the 2022 models. The neck is thicker than you would think, but it’s not too bad. I don’t have big hands and I love the neck, but I’d definitely recommend wrapping your hand around one if you can to make sure you like it.

Not a lot. The pickups output are probably in the low end of vintage output range. I own this guitar, thanks partially to this review and the pickups and switch can definitely use an upgrade but it serves me fine for now. I love the feel of the neck of this guitar.
