    Just bought a Cutlass, partly after viewing this cast, and I am so glad i did. This guitar plays like butter right out of the store. The soft V shape isn't something I'm used to, but it seems to guide my paw to position itself better. The pickups seems at least good, too. I *may* upgrade them after a while, but I'm going to try to live with them for a year or so before I decide that: there's no instant 'this is great but it needs better pups' feeling at all. I traded in a new CV 60's Strat on it, and I'm not looking back at all.

      Just picked mine up today. Never thought I would own a stratocaster (I play a lot of doom metal, so Ive always avoided single coil pickups). I love this thing, especially for the price! Many things also make up your tone, not just pickups like amp and pedals. Id say go for this guitar if you like the strat tone and adjust to your play style (maybe a pickup swap).

      @@gfunktuba1 hopefully you’ve already gotten him one, but if not, this would be a fantastic first guitar. It comes already well setup and ready to play right out of the box. Strings are not perfectly centered (6:54) , the dot inlay should be centered perfectly between D & G strings, as a result, the thin E may slip down the fretboard. In my personal opinion, I consider this as a quality control issue.

    I live far away from music stores so it can get expensive trying things out. Lol. So far the RG series is the best feeling. I have a hard time with Les Pauls. I need to try an SG. I didn’t mind my strat and regret selling it. I may give this one a go.

    • @familiarpurrson8744
      @familiarpurrson8744 Год назад +2

      I don't think you'd be sorry you gave this guitar a try. But if you want a good-feeling SG for that double-hum, 24.75" scale sound, I'd suggest trying Epiphone's SG Modern Figured. It has a *very* nice neck carve, and yes, it's easier-playing to me, at least, than my Epi Les Paul Standard. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

    • @DNYS8N

    Great review! I’m getting ting this guitar today. Compared it to the Ibanez AZES, Squier Classic Vibe, Harley Benton, etc. (could not find a Sire S3 to compare but Sires are hard to come by in stores.). Very Stratty single coil tones - even Strattier than my Classic Vibe - and nicely balanced humbucker. In my experience you never really miss the coil split because it works better in theory than in practice. The neck is what really sold me, plus a truly sweet neck pickup. Very nice playing too!

    I think these are great but too expensive in Australia vs USD. Shame because I would have bought one.

    The weird thing about this guitar is that it is 1000% silver (as in the video), but every picture of it online makes it appear as though it is light blue.

      It's hard to capture what it truly looks like without seeing it in person but I would say it's a mixture of silver and light blue.

    Neck thickness...somewhere in between....kind of important to some guitarists and often neglected in specs and reviews, I'd like to know the specific thickness at the 1st and 12th frets on a guitar I'd have to order. Nut material, another missing spec so probably plastic? Exposed spoke wheel truss rod a complaint? Are you kidding me? Very convenient for tweaking in humidity/temperature changes, I prefer this setup. Worst are ones you have to take the neck off to adjust, hit and miss with no string tension and totally impractical for on the fly tweaks. Here's what I'd pick on: poplar is cheap hit and miss tone wood, 1 volume and 1 tone I'd rather see the extra tone control, nut material-plastic(?) with trem is not desirable, pickup magnets should be(?) alnico, prefer the humbucker with a toggle or push/pull ...I wouldn't place the value on this guitar much more than 300 bucks for an Asian made guitar. Best features are the roasted maple neck, neck finish appears not to be gloss, locking tuners if the tuners perform well and spoke wheel truss adjustment . Pickups and nut are easily upgraded but the poplar body, control layout kills it for me and also the mystery neck thickness. There's better options out there in that price range and yeah there's limitations in that price range but still...pass.
