Let’s talk about EVH guitars... Видеоклипы
I see Sterling the same way I see G&L, reliable, built like a tank, and able to withstand any and all abuse. If I were a struggling musician living in a van, gig to gig, I'd have a Sterling or a used G&L
Stingrays are sick. I love how fluff describes them as a combination of some of fender’s best designs. A mix of a strat, jazzmaster, and jaguar. Its got the cutaway of a strat, with the offset body and bottom of a jazzmaster/jag. Stingray basses are also sick. Probably one of my favorite basses. For the longest time them and esp eclipses were the staple of all the warped tour/ “core” genres
I like the feel of the stingray basses had one myself but the lower end ones have not so good electronics.
You killed that solo Hunter! 🤘 Your lead chops are really coming together :)
Love how you played one of Fluff's songs on a video featuring him
Love the sections in your videos where you figure out riffs for tracks
I got a Sterling Valentine in 2019 when it went for a “stupid deal of the day” for $400 and it’s my go to electric guitar for writing and jamming. The neck on it is perfect. Definitely gonna be first in line to pick up the chambered version with a Bigsby coming out in May!
Your lead parts are getting better, Hunter! Keep it up!🔥
Sounds awesome Hunter, great collab with Fluff! I really dug that song. 🤘
I have the SR30 in stealth black, and I love it. I did replace the stock pickups with an EMG 81/60 set and I love it even more. It is currently my drop c guitar. Sterling has gotten pretty damn good lately. (And when I broke the trem arm Sterling replaced the whole bridge for free)
Same. Sterling make great stuff. I bought my CT50 because of Hunter.
I've always be interested in these, but I wish they had more colors. Thanks for the demo!
I loved to see your writing process
It's the two riff masters of the RUclips sphere!
I bought a Cutlass a year or two ago when they first had roasted maple on the $500 Cutless and I love the guitar.I put different pickups in it and it is as comfortable and sounds as good as anything I own.
Honestly really like the switch coming straight out the top horn. Very hot-rod Pawn Shop-guitar vibe.
So rad to see you having grown as a guitarist man. These riffs get tastier every time. Thanks for what you do.
I have a Sterling JP70 and I absolutely love it! Everyone always complains about tuning stability but mine has no issues with that whatsoever. The neck is just amazing and I can't say enough good things about it. Stock pickups aren't perfect but none are really. Just my two cents.
I’ve had two Sterling JPs. My current JP150 is simply perfect. I don’t want a Majesty (not my cup of tea) and have always preferred the MM JP15 over the years that I’ve loved Petrucci. I bought it around £700 new two years ago, and I’ll likely never get rid of it. Great guitars.
I’m now hoping whatever Rabea comes up with has a Sterling equivalent in the future! 🤞
Kyuss sounding riffs and tones. I bought a Sterling St Vincent the first year the came out. I was completely blown away.
Glad you caught on.
You can add coil split to all sterlings. They keep the 4 wire setup for the pickups and they just tie the other 2 leads together. Buy a push pull and bam you have coil split now.
I love my Sterling Jason Richardson Cutlass. The bridge post insert was loose and sank in the body when i got it, i only noticed when i took the strings off and went to restring it. Nothing a drop of super glue couldn't handle.
Outside of that minor issue, it's an awesome guitar, and as my first Sterling, im pretty impressed.
I have the Sterling Cutlass and I love the roasted maple neck. It needed some work to get where I wanted it. I replaced the tuners, pickups, saddles, and trem block. And now it's pretty solid. One of my favorite guitars.
Did you get the SR30 or the SR50 with the upgraded hardware?
I've had this my cart some many times and then I talk myself out of it . They are definitely worthy and makes me rethink my decision 😮😊
I’m not certain what I expected from this guitar but yeah, I’m pretty impressed! The tune crushed as well!
This guitar moved up my shopping list for this year, thx! In Europe at Thomann it’s shortly available and then will go very fast out of stock 🎸
no longer part of the 8 mil club. subscribed! great video as usual
Very Cool, Thankyou. Stunning Guitar, looks and sounds awesome. I have an entry level Sterling by Music Man SUB Silo3 in Black with white pickups, maple neck and fretboard in HSS config and it is Amazing. Construction finish is outstanding, Neck/Fretboard is most comfortable I have played. Just a pleasure to play and has become my favorite strat style guitar. Just Love this guitar. Cheers
Sounding good bud!
I tried the buttercream one at guitar center and was blown away! Killer guitar for the money. The neck feel was my favorite part
The CT50 is one of the best guitars I've had.
I have a AX40 and let me tell you it is great and I have been playing guitar for over 35 years, I did how ever had stainless steel frets put on it and it is my go too guitar and have a few good ones like gibson and others!
Might get a sterling one day. But I'd just like a bit more variety in the colors
I wonder if the Richardson has the same neck, cause that's a gorgeous guitar (at least in pictures).
I totally agree. I got a Sterling cutlass CT50 B-stock from Sweetwater and its probably the best feeling neck I've ever played. And at less than $500... no brainer!
Really nice performance!
OK bro getting some smooth shreds🤘🏼🐐🐐🦇🐐🦇🎸🎸🎸
17:17 HEY CHELSEA - super cool that you did a legit nod to DU right at the end :D
I have a Sterling CTS50HSS in the buttermilk finish. I got it for $350 from guitar center, amazing amazing deal. I’m so happy with it. Best decision ever
You ROCK!
I had a go of the musicman one a while ago. The soft v to c neck was just the nicest neck I’ve ever played.
I did get the Sterling off the back of that but it just wasn’t the same but was still a nice guitar.
I traded my Sterling JP7PW for a new Sterling Mariposa (Omar Rodríguez-López sig guitar). It's a fantastic guitar, the same as the JP7 I had. Between as of now, the Sterling Mariposa ($500-600) and the Music Man Mariposa ($3000+), there isn't much between them besides the wood and a fancy pickguard.
It’s an amazing guitar I bought one 2 months ago. And it’s the only guitar I’ve been using since. 100% worth it.
Good to have a sterling on the channel again!
Ive tried the sbmm Jason Richardson 7 and the mariposa, the latter was the better built guitar, the sbmm 7 was too uncomfortable for sitting down position but the neck of the mariposa was really good, i wanna try more sbmm in the future
The only EBMM or Sterling I’ve ever gotten to try is the Sterling Stingray Bass since I’m a lefty, but I enjoyed it enough I almost bought a bass so that’s a pretty good sign for quality
I have this guitar in Buttermilk and ai love it.
That metallic clank you get when chugging, is that a small amount of reverb or the action being super low with a super flat neck with a minor amount of fret buzz? Been having huge problems trying to get that clank to my chugs.
I had a Sterling LK100d for a while, the Steve Lukather model with his signature dimarzios fitted. I regret daily selling it and they’re not that common in that configuration on the used market, never tried a cutlass only an axis, that was really good
@agufish, which one do you prefer and why ? SR50 or CT 50?
i tried one of these awhile back and wasnt sure if the guitar store did something but the fretboard was super sticky, the neck shape was great would have gotten it if it had a hard tail version
I have the sterling cutlass S S S and love everything about it. As cheap guitars go it needed a little work but I wouldn't sell it for the world
Finally!
I own that same sterling and "I Love it".😎👍
How would you compare this neck vs Sean Long’s Charvel ?
I haven't played one in a while, really wish I could, but I know when I worked with a luthier (Gene Imbody VERY good in his profession), he always had a few music man guitars laying around, and they were all such well playing guitars
I have the ct50 and it’s fantastic!
I’ve tried owning a few different JP Sterlings over the last couple of years, and as much as I wanted to love them, the consistency and QC was just so bad.
But seeing your CT and SR videos though, I think I might have to give their basic models another look
What would you stick in this if you were planning to mod it?
Stingrays are my absolute favorite guitars as of late. I just wish Sterling had more colors
Please try and get the new ct50 Plus on here! The block inlays look so killer and I am interested to see how they compare in your opinion
First. Big fan of both of you guys.
i love my sterling maj200
Love how these feel to play. The rounded body is definitely more comfortable on my forearm. For me these definitely need a pick up swap to be something I'd want to keep and probably would swap on a black pickguard as well. I will say the last SR50 I tried had a really nicely figured roasted birdseye neck. Was my first time seeing that in person. Looks really nice.
I have had both a Sterling and a Musicman Stingray. Let me tell you they were very very close to eachother.
3rd eye BLIND .. yeah I heard it !!!!IN THE BACKGROUND… I was working at least I thought I did . Lol!!
I have a Sterling JP60 that is a really great guitar.
@agufish def not just you - my washer was missing as well - it was hiding in the shipping box 😅
I’m a big fan of Sterling. I have a JP 157, a JP 160 w/double locking trem, a JP MAJ 100, and a JP 70.
All great playing guitars. The 157-7 string is my favorite.
Going for the Jason Richardson 7 string next.
Why not try a non sig?
@@Ottophil
Eventually I will…. The JP’s have the feel I look for. The necks just feel right.
By any chance did you also intonate it for Drop C? I only ask because i’m interested in the Sterling, but finding a bridge/saddle that can properly intonate for Drop C is annoyingly difficult.
That video intro: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
What month is this?
That color is soo sick that I had to have a Ray34 bass with it to match my Cutlass. The chrome controls on the Stingray and the slightly oblong body shape, give it a more modern look that isn't for me. I've noticed these Sterlings are a real dividing point for many guitarists. People either love them or hate them. What's weird is that the neck profile seems to be the first spec that the haters bring up. Many claim its too chunky and they couldn't gel with it? Yet the neck is the main reason alot of people buy them? I have these ape hands with long thumbs, which makes playing ANY shallow flat D shredder profile necks, uncomfortable for me. Chunky C or U carves with asymetrical profiles are what feels the best for me.
The Valentine is really nice
Awesome vid. Only thing? I can’t hear the drum mix at all?
How’s the sterling st Vincent Goldie?
Ive wanted a cutlass so bad for so long lol
If it weren't for the thicker neck profile of Sterlings, I'd trade my Fenders for em in a New York fuckin minute as their specs are farrrrr superceded than the ol Fender specs.
However, if anyone is a Sterling/MM fan let me know of any other guitar models from their line that have that "modern C" profile. Tanks! Great video!
2:35 Harley Benton :
You serious bro?
Needs a black pickguard from Afterman Guitars 😏
0:27 🐶🥰
Nice tones on the guitars and nice solo even though I did not like the way he used the wah wah pedal that much, too fast on an off on the wah effect, I like it slower and more trippy the way it is mostly used but to each their own.
I like the Sterlings but for me at least in Sweden they are to expensive for what you get.
For the same price as their cheapest Cutlass CT30 I can get a PRS SE Standard and for their CT50 it is cheaper for me to buy a Fender Player Strat.
I do not think they are better in any way than these bigger brands to charge you the money they are charging you, roasted maple neck or not.
I think maybe they charge you more than they should and can for the brand when they should lower the price for what you are getting with their guitars. That 500-1000 $/€ market is a busy market with a lot of options.
I could be wrong but they don't offer hardtail versions of their guitars which is a huge "no" for me.
I like their strings though.
I wanted one of these but alas, I have too many guitars.
Sterling vs Sire guitars????
only took 3 decades🙏 all seriousness great video
I've always been hesitant with budget Musicman guitars, mostly because of the old bargain basement brand O.L.P. that sold next to the EB guitars for a tenth of the price. The horrible build quality made it easier to sell Ernie Balls.
what does that thing at the haedstock? pls. explaine. thanks.
It's to reduce the strings from ringing out after the nut (Jimmy clip).
Tightens up the chugs, so to say (for one).
Is it just me or did the demo track sound weird? Given, I was wearing shitty headphones but it felt like the guitars were 13db above everything else... These demos usually sound very good so idk.
I agree, something weird with phase for sure
Not to be confused with the Sterling bass, a smaller bodied version of the Stingray from the 90s / early 2000s.
It's funny to see how you were suddenly wrong about something when they give you a new guitar...
Why is it now that I remember to subscribe wtf lmao
That demo track was SEXY
Fluff :D
FLUFF!!!
Pringle really earned her paycheck on this video!
Stepping down from the EBMM you also lose the compensated nut. If my personal playing style didn't involve so many open/droning strings, I'd be all over the Sterlings.
Sterling knows what’s up, these things feel like a top shelf guitar. Swap out the pups & some hardware and you’ve got yourself a monster of a guitar on a budget
cool dog..whats his name
Pound for pound Music Man guitars and basses are the best value for the money.....if you can afford one. It's Sterlings for the rest of us.
do you use for your guitar recording a reactive load ? or straight from the cab ?
CDO aka OCD , I am not fan of two bottom tuners it makes me shake
Really like the design and ergonomics of them but I’ve noticed some pretty bad QC issues on some of the ones I’ve played. Lots of sharp fret ends.
Easy fix. Its not a QC problem. They left the factory fine. Wood shrinks in different humidity. Want less of this? But a guitar from the country it was made. Less shrinkage in shipping across the globe
Did my man really just open this video with God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen
