I can't know the exact feeling they have but I understand them, one of the most disastrous events in human history they have been living through. People tend to forget and I'm no different, to be honest, but we must always remember what happened to the people and why that happened because it was not the earthquake that killed people but it was the weakly-constructed buildings.
How sad. Empty promises are the new norm. The sad reality is that it takes time to reconstruct in a way that could withstand future earthquakes. Otherwise the cycle will repeat over and over again.
Maybe give it a few days, they might report on it. The world is a large place for one news source to report on. But I understand, I too wish they would report on Syria. But I don't think they want to bring attention to it for fear of antagonizing the Americans, don't want to embarrass them for what they've done.
