Awesome video. I look forward to the next one. For as complicated as the SiraTone and Alertronic controls look they actually seem fairly simple compared to what Whelen had out at the time. One thing I want to point out is that the digital controls are actually dual tone as well. The E-Class manual says that the current controls output a low tone through a second output on the board. The sound for the second output goes through an oscillator that offsets the tone by the same ratio as the analog controls. From the factory they are wired for single tone using the primary output, but you can change it and set them for dual tone or to run on the low tone output.

Did not know that. The way ASC and ACA made it sound like that you had to have them all programmed for dual tone or single tone, when in reality that is not the case on any of these units or current ones.

Awesome video! Really great find and new information on these. Great find and nice job on being the first one to show a control board for one of these!

Hi tom... Those transformers on the control board couple the tone generator output to the power amps and also do impedance matching for the power amp inputs. I don't see any power transistors on those boards so you've got maybe a few watts of audio power at the most. However that horn speakers is probably the right impedance so it's running at maximum efficiency. Even a few watts of audio power can be quite loud given an optimal setup!

Thanks to your attack demonstration, I'm going to have to review a couple chemical plant systems now! Would be a lot nicer if they did turn out to be ACA instead of the normal bunch of Federal electronics.
I was wondering how adjustable these are compared to the SiraTone. Are there ways to increase the pitch or increase the wind down time like in the SiraTone, or is it packaged without any sort of adjustment?

Alfie Woolard The only adjustment the circuit board has is for the PA volume that is the only potentiometer on this board.

Also while investigating a lot into the Allertor series from a project to install four already refurbished units in my town (which may or may not still be happening as my parents are moving to the other side of the state but I have other siren enthusiast friends up here interested in helping me out with the project), I had a sneaking suspicion most of ACA's parts were of third party origin. I was not surprised because most of the components on sirens are especially some of the electrical and motor parts like you had mentioned. Did you find anything else about them that wasn't known previously?

Well, the radios were outsourced from plectron. I have a strong feeling that the amplifiers were also made by Carson MFG.

FSThunderboltfan1000 Plectron was very good. We have a County in my area which still uses their stuff for siren activation (they use SiraTrol cabinets and have mostly old Federal stuff so the Plectron radios were likely added later). Those things are built like tanks.

I would not recommend them being ran on the carpet like that.

Do you happen to know what the serial number on the 1985 control board is? Wondering if I can contact Carson Mfg. to find out if they have a wiring diagram.

I have attempted to contact Carson about these boards they have no information on either of them.

Actually the Siratone would have came out before the Alertronic.
