Is La Roche Posay Cicaplast Worth The Hype?

  • La Roche Posay recently sent me their viral Cicaplast Baume and the spray version of their cicaplast Baume. I had to try it right away and whilst I love the original cream version, the spray version almost felt like a lightweight oil. not something i love for my skin!

wait just to clarify....I think everyone is using cicaplast (or Avene's Cicalfate) as a regular, everyday routine moisturizer. But it's specifically made for irritated skin, like even post chemical treatment skin, or sunburned skin. And the texture might not be to your liking if you're looking for an everyday typical moisturizer (especially Avene Cicalfate).

Yeah, i loved the former version vetter with it being more thicc™️ and more potent(?) I had sometimes horrible horrible open acne wounds. And lrp cicabalm would soothe it completely in one day and a night. I fear they reformatted it after people complaining after using it as a normal moisturiser and not a soothing "balm"

Yes, I saw people recommending it for under makeup. I have mixed feelings about it. Sometimes it actually makes a good base but other times there are some dry "leftovers" of the balm. I use much less than James and it's not visible on my skin, so I often use it throughout the day. There's an SPF version which I'm willing to try as well.

I've been using it for couple of years and it's great for readness around pimples and i also use it as a lip balm. I avoid putting it on my skin every day since it's very rich and i don't really need that honestly.
Also, people should really watch a bit longer how their skin reacts to products that they are trying out. They put way to much trust into other people and their opinions and then wonder why it doesn't work for them the same.....

La Roche has a ton of really great products and their triple moisture lotion has worked wonders in a few days. I almost never put on lotion, so my skin is cracked like a crocodile. For me, Avene's Cicalfate+ is more moisturizing and soothing. I have La Roche-Possay's Cicaplast Balm as well. I dealt with a really bad episode of perioral dermatitis from the end of September to mid December. It was awful! I usually stick to a pretty strict skincare routine, but every once in a while I get an itch to change it up, and I did too much too fast and completely screwed up my skin barrier. I usually deal with it a couple of times a year, usually when the weather changes, but this was 100% my fault and I paid the price. It was a rough couple of months, but I made it to the other side. I had gotten the Cicaplast when it first started appearing, but it wasn't soothing enough for me. I switched to Avene's and it was a game changer for me. It was so soothing and just made my skin feel so much better. I still use it daily because I live in Michigan and my skin really goes through it during the harsh winter months. I dab a little on my cheeks and it really help with the redness from the wind, and I dab a little under and around my nose to help clear up the redness and irritation from constantly having to blow my nose. I also put some on any blemishes I get that need extra TLC besides my daily Differin treatment. I still have the Cicabalm and will use it occasionally, but it just doesn't seem as moisturizing on my skin as the Cicaplast+. It almost feels like it leaves a chalky layer on my skin. It does help with redness though! I'm thinking that during the warmer months it will work better for me because it doesn't feel as heavy on my skin as Avene's does.

I was using old version LRP Cicaplast baume b5 as my night moisturiser during autumn/winter and my skin improved drastically. My acne disappeared and the texture really got better. The thickness of it made me buy Avene cicalfate that is even thicker (in Europe) and it doesn't moisturize the skin as a LRP, so for us with dry skin LRP is a better choice. Now I'm getting sceptical about new formulation and should I buy it

I still use this cream, locally on post acne scars. I noticed they heal much faster and leave no marks.
But I cannot use it as a moisturiser alone, I find it to heavy and sits a lot on the top of the skin. The purpose of the cream is to create a protective layer, so probably that's why it doesn't sink in as fast as normal moisturiser.
I personally wouldn't use this as a moisturiser if you have oily, acne prone skin.

Where is everyone finding big sizes? Mine are always smaller. Both me and kiddo use it for lip balm at night, on our acne/psoriasis on our face and for cracked hands that are irritated. I go through it pretty quickly. Would love bigger sizes

Tried this brand and the cleanser burned my skin, definitely not for me. Honestly finding it so hard to find a brand that doesn't irritate my skin.

I’m trying this but their effaclair range is amazing especially the AHA face wash. Only thing that’s made my skin consistently clear and smooth.

Hey, I'm looking for some advice (not on this product) from people that use La Roche Posay, particularly the foundation sunscreen. I've tried using it and it just cracks and looks awful if anyone in the comments has a suggestion on how to use it that would be awesome, I don't think James uses a tinted sunscreen. I should probably ask Robert but I've never seen him use La Roshe Posay 😅

@@nicolorange have you tried layering hydrating products underneath the LRP tinted sunscreen to prevent cracking? if a product doesn’t work well on the face, i either use it on different areas of the body i.e. neck, arms, legs, etc or give the product to family/friends instead of throwing it away.

I've been using Cicaplast for years now every day, and no matter how many moisturizers I try, this is the best. I've got eczema and acne, and this product saved my skin from flareup, irritation and breakouts. Is the best product that I ever used.

There is one pore-clogging ingredient... But I have oily skin, and it works just fine! So it really depends..! I recommend to buy the smallest version if you want to give it a try. But you can switch it for cerave healing ointment, which doesn't seem to have any comedogenic ingredients and supposed to work the same!
