Minami, while on patrol, observes a terrible-monster attacking a passenger plane. TAC didn’t see the terrible-monster, and concludes that the incident was an accident. Hokuto, in hopes of proving Minami right, starts an investigation on his own.

Probably the episode with the most emblematic Terrible Monster and the most representative scenes of Ultraman Ace.
The Mount Fuji in the back is not a photo, but a painting made by Fuchimu Shimakura, who drew (and still draws) the clouds for the backgrounds of the Ultra Series. You can check his name in the credits of Ultraman Trigger, too.
I didn't know that about the Mt Fuji backdrop! (Not sure what I expected, but not a painting!) It's so cool that he is still working on the Ultra series now too!

Suprised they were so fast to discredit Minami... Like they just did the same to Hokuto last episode. Do they really think she'd lie like that or the terrible monsters couldn't pull something like that?
This is why TAC is my most hated task force in the entire series. Canonically, in that world, there had been SSSP, UG, and MAT, yet they easily discredit anything monster-related. They're just so unprofessional.
TAC Actually is the worst one among in the showa teams, due of not be able to defeat any chojus by themselves even they use the "ultimate weapon" from the earth. According to the fandom, it says that TAC used some stuffs from the previous team, MAT, but still they did not managed to destroy or beat a single choju while MAT was able to win a fight with their weapons without the help of ultraman. I know that the chojus are superior to the kaijus but still every of them have a weakness, a single weakness which it allows the team to win the fight by hitting the weakness part and thus Ultraman is not necessary to be appeared until the choju revives.

probably the most toxic team in the series, they like blaming others when something goes wrong too

Ah yes, the sky cracking - a sign that any defense team is gonna have a very bad day.
Also Yapool is _messed up_
The first time we see that incredible special effect of the sky cracking! It remains one of the most iconic imagery for Ultraman in general, IMO, and definitely one of my faves. Also the first dismemberment / decapitation by Ace, I think!
Once again, the things I missed/forgot previously: Mikawa having a pretty large role in the ending (not only does she lead the defense of TAC base, she even had a handy timer she made as a pin for her uniform??), and the creepiness and sadistic method of Yapool taking over Shiro's dead body.
I always find it funny that Ace is shorter than most of his opponents, but I never realised how HUGE Vakishim is?!! Its one leg / tail is as big around as Ace???
The rectangle barrier is one of my favourite moves. It gets reprised in episode Z19. The Mt Fuji backdrop is amazing, just a fantastic space for the battle that itself makes it so memorable.
Is this the beginning of the TAC tradition of never believing a chouju sighting? 😅
To be fair, it's easy for kaijus to be a head or more taller than an ultra due to the bulkier costume XD
i guess TAC did start of 'not believing choju sighting' on eps 2. that egg ones XD

Before Vakishim returns in Ultraman Mebius.
And he certainly didn't wait to rack up a body count.
And Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle,when he became Rei's Gomora Punching Bag
Did anyone notice the monsters featured in the opening credits are from past Ultraman series and they do not appear in Ace? I wonder what is their intention in doing this.
They likely threw the op together in a rush, since they had no visual ready

dang, previous defense team HQs were only faced with a full frontal assault at the end of their respective shows. but Yapool did it three episodes in! Talk about efficient evildoing
Vakishim was another my most favourite Terrible-Monster 😊! I wish, S.H.Figuarts can create this one of the famous Terrible-Monster in this year 😊.
This is a really messed up episode when you think about it. Yapool ressurected and possessed the body of a dead child, then used him to trick the innocent grandparents before killing them.
The 70s were a different time.
Yeah. Just realized that early Ultraman wasn't afraid of telling some really dark stories.
Thing was made even creepier with yapool's line about "Only humans think children have a pure heart"
@@spiderphoenix8270 Yapool's line reminds me of a similar sentiment with the child alien (Simon seijin?) in Ace's finale. It's especially sinister that Yapool uses people's positive associations with children against them, and I can't help but think it relates to Ace's advice to never lose one's kindness despite being betrayed/disappointed...
But back to this episode, it's also tragic that the poor grandparents died confused that they were attacked by their beloved grandson. They might have tried to avoid hell by staying in their village, but hell came to them via Vakishim (the association with hell in the grandfather's song also making me prefer the older title for this episode, "Burn! Choju Hell")
Yapool also didn't just take the opportunity to use a dead child's corpse, but actively planned the death of Shiro and his parents. WTF.
@@zombiejade898 Yapool is, hands-down, arguably the MOST evil of the various aliens. He/they have outright committed planetary genocide; the Aprasar episode implies that they destroyed her home planet just to get her as a weapon against Ace.
That's a lot of suspensions hahahaha
