- We start our epic journey in our Roadtrek Zion campervan to Canada's National Parks with a stop at Shuswap Lake Provincial Park where the summer crowds have disappeared. We realize our travel plans may need to change due to colder weather in the forecast and talk about the option of winterizing the campervan. Gordon enjoys a paddle to an island and does some exploring.

Beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing.
Marc Dsh so glad you enjoyed! Even with the rain it was very beautiful!
I am new to your channel and i like so far !! thank you
Frank Demonte thank you for you comments and glad you have enjoyed!🚐
Another great video-reminds me of Scotland in the UK but on a very much larger scale, if we owned a RV, Scotland is where we would head for a good week of touring. Gordon would love the beer!
Adrian Hockey does the comparison to Scotland also include the rain? Thanks again for your comments and we think we would love a week there touring as well. And the beer! As to larger scale, The Rockies in our next few videos will add to that.too. 🚐🏔
Hi Both, Scotland invented rain! But you would love the scenery, it has always been popular with overseas visitors. There are many small breweries that offer amazing ales of all types, you would be spoilt for choice.Unfortunately, the climate here in the UK does not allow for a wide range of wines- but being close to France the choice on offer is excellent. Perhaps one of f these days you may make a visit and see for yourself as we also would like to visit BC.
you guys are good at telling your story...very enjoyable !!!
Billyt appreciate your comment-thank you!🚐
I also have a Zion and have driven it on some remote logging roads near Lake Superior. No problems. The front wheel drive and the smooth ride is great. I've looked at larger Class C RV's. But none of them have the driving comfort of the Zion. They're loud and they drive like a truck. My Zion is my ONLY vehicle and is large enough for camping but small enough to drive around town.
BADGUY 1 thank you for sharing your experiences with the Zion and and from what we have seen we would agree! Also easy to turn around in tight places, which would be difficult is many C’s. Offside - somewhat less space on those rainy days!
My husband and I love watching your videos as we dream about doing the same thing in the not too distant future. We admire your hiking and fitness theme. We have kayaks and I want to mention that I think you should wear a wet suit and a life jacket especially at this time of year as I don’t think you would do too well if you fell in or sunk in that cold water. Wet suits are light and amazing these days and pretty cheap when you watch for the sales.
Pat Lucking thanks for your comments and hope to see you folks on the road soon too! 🚐🏔🌲☀️. As for a PFD, we always wear though mine (Gordon) is inflatable (effectively sits like a hip belt so hard to see on videos), just so much easier to hike in with on some trips, fits nicely in a pack and can be used nicely with a paddle-board. Also have a farmer John and wet suit top, but water in most lakes quite warm even now so haven’t used this season, but as we approach fall winter it will likely be added. Appreciate the reminder!
Great video. Can you recommend your kayak brand? thanks!!
Pamela Redford thank you and glad you enjoyed. The boat in this video is actually an Alpacka packraft; the Explorer 42 model and we have found it to be great (!) for our uses; would buy another as it folds small, is light (approx 6 lbs) and can be used for two for short trips (often in our other videos). We have used when backpacking too (why we purchased initially). We would use a kayak for longer trips though (if we didn’t need to carry far), much faster than a pack-raft , but generally this is great for us when using the van. The inflatable kayak used in the video from Birkenhead lake (thumbnail shows as “We lucked out”) is an Innova Sunny, which has also worked well for us; bigger and heavier (30+ lbs) of course, but still can fit well into a van. They no longer make that model, but have similar and likely even better versions now. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the beautiful scenery. When you mentioned Glacier National park, was it the one in US or do you also have one in Canada??
Gina Brown thanks for the question and comments...yes, nice area and the trip only got better in terms of scenery! There is a Glacier National Park in Canada as well (one of several national parks in BC) and that is the one we visit this time. Great alpine scenery and wonderful forest valleys!
Love the raft and how it inflate by a bag. What is the company that makes your raft . You have such great areas to camp and hike, so beautiful
Kathleen RosePrairieQuilts we agree, so many great places to choose from. The packraft is an Alpacka; Explorer 42 model. Great for single plus gear or good for two for short trips. Folds small (to about same size as a small 2 person tent) and weighs about six pounds. We used for backpacking to alpine lakes, but works great in a small RV as well!
Love the channel...question...how do you keep the lithium batteries warm when it is cold out?
art penna glad you enjoy! Effectively the lithium look after themselves and stay warm as long as they are on. If left off for an extended period and it is cold out they make take a while to be able to use. Last winter for example if we didn’t use the van for a week we would turn on the batteries and drive away, but could not actually use them for 15 minutes or so (until they warmed up).
