      and also ironically or rather hypocritically, they were still being terrorists and making their victims reach their limit… only to cause worse to them all and south asians too because ((anglo) north) america has less than zero education and is anti-education too while portraying themselves as the victims & martyrs even though it’s the west but mostly the US terrorists’s doing and their fault but mostly the fault of the oligarchs in the war business controlling them like the worthless army toys they are to them, and laughing at all too while profiting off all.

    Tony wasn't being gentle with Ralphie. He was reminding him, without confrontation, that a captain within a mob family should know better than to excuse murdering a card player and shooting at/shot two made guys. Tony framed it as Ralph's decision, but was making it clear that there was only 1 right decision.

    Finally a "reactor" appreciating Livia. She was so extremely funny and convincing as this narcissist or whatever she was.

    • @TheFourNineThree
      @TheFourNineThree 5 месяцев назад +4

      @LaCheeserie there was no other option. Tony was basically giving an order but used words and reverse psychology to make Ralph feel as if he doesn't do it then the other made men will look at him a certain way and won't respect him. So basically he had no choice but to put the hit out on Jackie Jr.

    I always thought it was interesting that Tony defended the mobsters with "We're not killers we're soldiers" but wanted to keep AJ out of the family biz by sending him to military school with the same argument of "They're not killers, they're soldiers".
    Other than Jackie Jr. Himself Ralphie is the one most responsible for his death. First pointing him in the path that leads to his demise, and then actually ordering the hit, but is the one that feels least affected by it.

    • @RonaldRobert-us7qk

      Yeah, but military school teaches discipline. I'm not sure anyone in Tony's crew has that trait. It also is more about advancing your education, and if you want a career in the military, you're more likely to be an officer than on the front lines.

    This is deliberate - David Chase hates TV conventions, so even though he does a few season finales that go out with a bang, most of them don't, and usually it's the penultimate episode or the episode prior etc. that tends to be the one with all the big action and stuff.
    Season 4 is my favorite. It's slower than most seasons because it's even more heavy on character development and takes it time to really build to something special.

  • @gregsgoogle2947

    Obviously they are setting up the future. Great thing about this show is how well characters mature over time. Meadow has pretty much figured everything out. AJ knows some things but hasn’t thought anything through yet like Meadow has.
    Besides Roe, Meadow was the only person at the funeral who was genuinely grieving. Even Jackie Jr’s sister was faking grief. She made it clear she had no respect for her brother.
    Everyone was just using this occasion to eat well & make snide remarks about Jackie Jr. That’s what Meadow was referring to by called this all BS & running off. She’s grieving & everyone else is just chowing down.

  • @MattMajcan
    @MattMajcan 5 месяцев назад +9

    meadow is difficult cuz she actually has a brain, way more than anyone else on the show. shes one of my favorite characters in anything. the fact she manages to be a good person in spite of everything is incredible. her parents get mad at her because she passes judgement on them, but they deserve to be judged.

    • @RonaldRobert-us7qk
      @RonaldRobert-us7qk 5 месяцев назад +4

      But Meadow wasn't being difficult. She loved Jackie, he was murdered, and deep down, she knows her father likely at best had something to do with that. At worst he ordered it. I think that reality would drive anyone to throw bread at Uncle Junior's head.
      A part of her probably also believes that the murder might have been connected to Jackie's cheating on her. Under the circumstances - and the 12 quarts of vodka she chugs - she's pretty reasonable.

    Tony pawning the "handling" of Jackie Jr. off on Ralph is because they both realize he has to die (as Silvio says he "pissed on Ralph's leg" and by extension on Tony's as well) but Tony doesn't want to be the one to have to do it. Ralph also does not want to do it, which is why he suggested that he wanted to give him a pass, hoping Tony might do that and relieve him of the responsibility. Basically it was a chess game where both tried avoiding looking weak in the eyes of the others for not killing Jackie.

    • @LaCheeserie
      @LaCheeserie 5 месяцев назад

      @@LaCheeserie I'm not sure that Tony could live with there being no retribution for Sunshine getting killed and Furio getting shot. I mean he might not personally care that much, but it would be perceived as weakness. Which is why Ralph tried this maneuver in the first place, he knew Tony could never agree, so he hoped that Tony would at least give the order to kill Jackie, so he could wash his hands off responsibility.

    • @LaCheeserie

Don't get me wrong, I know you appreciate her now. But nothing prepares you for the first rewatch a few years down the road. I did a rewatch about five years ago and it's startling how good she is and how much she meant to the show. With her not being in seasons 3-7 (6b), I kind of forgot about her presence in those first two.

    A lawyer once told me "yeah a lot of criminals are not the most intelligent citizen of this country. It's kind of why they choose to do crime instead of getting a legit job right?" and this is from a trial defense attorney of 10+ years. He seen some dumb shit and dumb reasons from clients lol

    • @yourlifeisagreatstory

      Smart kids (or those raised in a wealthy setting) usually go to college and become productive adults. Those unable to afford college, or lacking intelligence and lower economic backgrounds go on to working blue collar jobs. Some find success in that but others raised around crime often continue on to the same criminal lifestyle. The majority of us are products of our situations. Tony, Meadow, and Jackie Jr are a great example of this. Tony had a chance to get a college education but turned out like his father. Meadow was raised in a wealthy setting and continued to college. And Jackie Jr was raised just like Meadow but had issues with school and drugs and wanted to be like his father and that led to his death.

      I’m not sold on that,committing a crime is a rush like a drug and a mindset about people who can’t exist in a society.
      Criminals aren’t all classified as dumb,stupid whatever they just make mistakes in there crimes that get them caught.
      Don’t ever mistake criminals as dumb or uneducated.

    • @hanng1242
      @hanng1242 3 месяца назад

      There's a bit of sample bias there. The ones who are good at crime don't need the services of a criminal defense attorney. To be a successful criminal, one needs to be able to correctly make risk assessments and needs to have the self-discipline to refrain from actions that increase the chances of getting caught. These are good qualities for anyone, but the criminal must be exceptional because the consequences of screwing up are so bad for him. The problem for those in the crime community is that they are only part of that community because they have no impulse control, or they don't have the discipline to get up every day and go to work, or because they enjoy risk-taking.
      The ones that get to experience the criminal justice system do dumb things like blow through a stop sign with a pound of meth in the trunk after FTAing an appearance in a driving w/o insurance case. What happens is that the officer who pulls him over notices the bench warrant issued for the FTA, arrests him pursuant to the warrant, then find the drugs in the trunk during the inventory search of the car. If one wants to get away with the big crimes, it is important to not commit the little ones because those little crimes increase the likelihood of police contact, which in turn increases the likelihood of being discovered committing the felony.

    It's kinda like rewatching my favorite show again fr the first time. I'll be sure to tune in to each one because I've ben meaning to see it again and I love your reactions.
    Some trivia from the episode I do know
    - The dude playing chess with Jackie was Omar from "The Wire" - Obama's fave TV character of all time. This was his stomping ground.
    - Ralphie didn't want to have Jackie clipped, buy Tony was there to remind him that Ralphie was made a CAPO bcaus TS felt confident that he would make the decision to do what Tony felt was the right move.
    - There is another version of Adriana's FBI agent. The original agent was supposed to be Fairuza Balk (Sandler's GF from The Waterboy and also The GF from American History X) so you can see her on some RUclips vids - she had another film project that year and had to leave the cast.
    I love the channel. I am half-Thai, so I'm a fan of the elephant tattoo and I look forward to watching more recaps.

    Tony should have given Jackie Jr. a pass tbh. It was ultimately his decision on whether Jackie lived or died. A good beating would have been enough to teach him a lesson, but he should have let the boy live. Dope reaction Cristy.

      No way possible to give him a pass. He killed a mob associate & shot a made guy. That’s a guaranteed death sentence. Tony’s street cred would go to zero if Jackie was given a pass.

      Think Meadows “bs” statement was more personal. Other than Ro, Meadow was the only one at the funeral who was genuinely in mourning over Jackie’s death. They all made negative comments to each other about Jackie at his funeral.
      Meadow seeing everyone fake their sorrow when she genuinely feels it is what made her see this whole mob family thing as fake. It’s all bullshit. They can’t even stop taking bets during a funeral.

      @@normie2716 I didn’t mean to suggest there was anything dodgy in what she said (maybe I should’ve left the Trump reference out) but it feels like an odd way for a parent to think. “Oh, my God, lock up your daughters” or “You’re going to break some young girl’s heart” would spring to my mind and exit my mouth more readily than “If I were thirty years younger…”

    I Agree with U, this Finale was ok to me, I definitely think Season 1 & 2 Finales had the better ending to a Season with more action & drama, but I do like the last scene in the restaurant with everybody together too, it was emotional and that’s what the episode was going for more emotion instead of action

      If you're expecting The Sopranos to be more action over characterization, cliffhangers over subtlety - you're going to be very disappointed overall. 😮
