The scrollable apps is actually the smartest way to stop the taskbar to overflow. If KDE fix their taskbar to scrollable apps, i will move, GNOME has been quite buggy at the moment
I find it rather strange to determine which DE to choose by how it handles lots of icons. Do you have lots of apps open at once? Never happened to me personally.
@@yorimirus not really for me too, but i sometime like to pin so much app to my taskbar. And my school some of the older projector with 4:3, the taskbar will probably messed up if i put so much app on the taskbar that will be okay on 16:9, but not on 4:3
This is why The taskbar is introduced in Windows 95. So it will just scroll rather than cluttering your screen and the task grouping getting introduced in Windows XP

In my opinion, the buttons get smaller than the icon behavior is the most awful way to handle taskbar overflow, the scrollable and folding behavior is the best because it's not being smaller but it just hide and can be exposed with button or mouse hover
This is what I would do when I was like 5. The computer we had at the time ran Windows 98, and I would just open stuff and keep opening stuff, not knowing how to use any of it. Eventually the computer would become really unresponsive.
this guy is underrated, since every app takes like 5-15 seconds to open or less in computers, that means that if every os here [30 total in the amount of icons in the thumbnail] has 100+ apps, possibly even thousands, that means that HOURS and even DAYS of work has been put, respect.

in windows xp/vista/any version with taskbar grouping, what happens if you open so many apps that the number of apps listed has enough digits to overflow the taskbar? you would probably need to open a ludicrous amount of programs, but i would like to see what happens
win 10 22h2 or 22h1 when weather and news are displayed taskbar get glitchy and explorer restarts every several seconds and high cpu usage and it's unstable. but it was with classic shell at once so idk.
There's no 22H1. They skipped to 22H2 to match Windows 11's new release cadence. Also, what's the exact number of the build where you're facing the issue? Press Win+R, type "winver", then press Enter and see the OS build number (e.g. 19045.2486)

Most Linux systems can hold around 4294967296 users On Windows it's a lot harder to tell, but I imagine it would be the same or less than on Linux since it has no arbitrary limit :)

It's written using the GTK toolkit so they decided to use G as the first letter. A similar thing exists in the KDE ecosystem with apps starting with K such as Konsole, Kate, KFind, Krita, KCalc, etc
Obviously put together by a habitual Windows user. When it comes to Linux the primary difference starts with the GUI (KDE, GNOME, MATE, Cinnamon etc.) rather than the distro.

In Windows 7 to 10, you can resize the taskbar for extra rows for taskbar buttons.

Why is Raspian's calculator called galculator?
It's written using the GTK toolkit so they decided to use G as the first letter. A similar thing exists in the KDE ecosystem with apps starting with K such as Konsole, Kate, KFind, Krita, KCalc, etc

I didn't watch the part when it gets to Linux because I'm more interested in Windows.
In these videos that show lots of different OSes, I normally start with Windows. And I put the Windows versions in order smaller oldest to newest.
Obviously put together by a habitual Windows user. When it comes to Linux the primary difference starts with the GUI (KDE, GNOME, MATE, Cinnamon etc.) rather than the distro.
Some distros customize the DE, like Ubuntu adds the dock to the left. Zorin OS uses GNOME, but it looks very different.
