My cat broke knocked mine off a table breaking a joystick. I have now learned how to fully repair and dismantle an ally so I never have to contact ASUS. The fix cost me $5
They were very loose. Got used to mine but the joysticks feel like PS3 joysticks. Nothing like the PS5 and Xbox one sticks. It can be a very frustrating thing to deal with especially playing games like warzone or apex that rely on good aim.
Then the screen breaks, you call up Asus and they somehow spot a microscopic scratch BEFORE a huge crack in the screen and charge £3000. I'm disappointed, ASUS. You're no longer one of my favourite companies.
Had my og since release. No screen protector. It's a very durable scratch resistant glass gorilla victous. It's a dam good panel . Sd micro not so much . But why mess with that slow expensive storage just upgrade the nvme for around the same price as a micro sd. I'm not upgrading I'm happy with mine not worth upgrading for the ram . Battery doesn't bother me as I am always around a plug anyhow 😊
I'm extremely hesitant on this. My ROG ally ruined two 1 tb sd cards and the games would constantly crash when i tried to launch them. I have not used it since my 2nd sd card failed. Tried using a sd card reader on my laptop and they're toast. I've been using my legion go instead. Haven't had any issues with it. Just wish it was slightly smaller. I'd rather risk my money on the msi claw than another ally even if it's suposed to be a new and improved version.
The ally X has 1T SSD at the same time that is full sized ssd so any ssd that you use for laptop or pc is ok so no need for sd card. But it is up to you what you want. I have my ally for 6 months now I never use sd card that is why I don't know what the problem is. Anyways I am pretty happy with my ally and can play any game I throw at it at 1080p my only problem is that 512gb ssd is too small and the ally x solve that problem and that 24gb shared ram as well however, I'll just wait for the ally 2 for a newer processor insteaf of refresh. If they make the screen even larger decrease the bezels and put oled would be perfect.
Yeah same tbh. Have been hearing alot of issues about the sd cards failing on the Rog Ally. Havent had this issue whatsoever on my Steamdeck so will likely just stick with my LCD one for now.

There’s no benchmarks yet because these are early review units, not the final product so benchmarking wouldn’t be accurate yet. Benchmarks will come closer to release

People complain about ASUS not upgrading the CPU or GPU but, I couldn't disagree more. Now developers have more time to push out optimization updates and really push this combo to the limits. Look what happened to PS5/Series x: they prioritized pushing out new hardware and we're now nearly 7yrs later and the PS5 can STILL BARELY PUSH 60fps. ITS A JOKE. And people are already talking about a PS6. Um. How about we optimize the PS5, first before we start worrying about a PS6. Same goes for the ROG Ally. Putting new CPU/GPU wont do any good if the optimization isn't there. We're already getting PS4 Pro level quality FROM A HANDHELD so, lets spend a couple more years optimizing the hardware we already have.
It doesnt matter what the Switch 2 does, at this point the Steamdeck and Rog Ally have already shown off the raw power, and customization. Whatever the Switch 2 does will need to have some impressive gimmick or power boost or it will flop and be another Wii U situation. The switch had a good thing going at first but many games now run very choppy sloppy and some even look horrible. Like I dont even mind it if the games are locked 30fps but if the game runs at a less resolution than its intended one eg 480p on a 720p display being the switch, thats just disgraceful. What makes it even more sad is that I am able to run the same game on my Steamdeck emulated but at a higher resolution. Nintendo would need to come up with something beyond impressive to get people to buy their next product. Perhaps Extended Reality (XR) or something.

Samme am way too used to both trackpads on my steamdeck ahahaha. I use them for games like Super Mario Galaxy 2, Angry Birds Space and even Minecraft lol. Infact hell yeah Minecraft just wouldnt remotely feel the same without full utilization of both trackpads lol.

It sounds like it already is. They have the same processor, a bit more ram, and better cooling which will help but I’d think the gains would be marginal at best. Put a bigger SSD in the old Ally Z1 extreme and you’ll basically have the same thing. Already that’s what I think before seeing any benchmarks.

SSD is 1Tb full sized M.2 2280. Easier to find, cheaper and can upgrade up to 4Tb as games are already too big.
