For someone with no formal martial arts training she is one of the best movie fighters around. Thanks for including her rope dart fight from Magnificent Warriors, I think that was my favourite.
She comes from a dance background, so the moment she saw how stunt movement was broken down, and realized it took the same skills, there it was.
She studied and trained in ballet..............close to Chinese martial arts I guess

@@dodoraptor8387 Dancers have an uncanny ability to memorize choreography. She does now have training in a few different styles, but when she started out it was just pure skill.
I mean Jackie Chan only got martial arts training pretty late in his career. It's all just chorography at the end of the day, and sometimes I wonder if the legitimate training can even get in the way.
I have been a fan since forever. I have just watched supercop on netflix and it was awesome. And still at 59 she can still kick ass. She is so cool.

She didn't have martial arts training, but she was a dancer which did give her a leg up, which she's stated herself.

Men really don’t care if ur good UR GOOD! She is excellent. Both sexes have had corny action scenes and unfortunately women have had some of the corniest and have got ridiculed in the past but men don’t mind who delivers a great action scene.

It’s crazy how she wasn’t even a martial artist when she started in films. Ballet dancer yes , martial artist no. But boy did she ever fake it in an awesome way. I’ve had a crush on Michele since she was in the movies with Cynthia Rothrock. And if given half a chance , I would be proud as a peacock to be seen with her even today at the age of 62 , she still looks amazing. I’ve always said she is the only woman I would cheat on my wife with. And my wife is a pretty good looking Asian woman herself. Michele Yeoh just has that special something. It’s hard to pick just one thing about her , there are many.

The editing and camera shooting in her asian movies are so much better than the hollywood ones. The messy camera shooting in the Babylon gives me a headache.
She has no martial art training so it is said. So if she has no training then she is a very good actress, cause she makes it look so easy and flawless

crouching tiger cannot be beaten - I've NEVER seen such incredible sequences.
So many of these have shaky cameras and slow mo when CLEARLY theyre completely unnecessary. Id even say that they detract from the flow and visibility of the fight

I wonder how long did they film that fight with the rope dart. It's not an easy weapon to use
She is clearly an immensely skilled martial artist but in everything except crouching tiger hidden dragon they either film far too close, cut far too often or massively overuse special effects (usually all three) making the action cartoonish, unrealistic or just plain ridiculous.
She'd give Jackie Chan a hell of a run for his money if only someone would pair her with a director who knows how to shoot a damn fight scene

I absolutely agree. Heck Jackie Chan said in his biography that she was one of the very few people he worked with that was as fearless about doing dangerous stunts as he was. She’s far more talented then Hollywood has ever given her credit for.
It’s like when I saw her fight in Star Trek Discovery, and the camera kept zooming too close or cutting away. Or in The Mummy Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor where she gets to sword fight with Jet Li, and the director cuts to the next scene after barely a minute or two. Thankfully she didn’t have this problem in Everything Everywhere All At Once

Actually not many know this but Michael himself was practicing martial arts. His father Joe made his kids to learn fighting to defend themselves. Even though you can't clearly notice it but sometimes Michael slipped a move here and there, for example, in the Thriller video when he is walking with a girlfriend and he is singing 'door slam', a beat it performance at the concert. He was very sharp, fast and precise in his movements he could have been a great martial artist if he wanted to.
