  • Nicholas first stepped onto the entertainment scene as a singer at the age of 16 in 1996. Two years later, Nicholas filmed his first movie “Young and Dangerous: The Prequel” and won “Best New Performer” at the 18th Hong Kong Film Awards. At the age of 21, Nicholas received the “World’s Best Chinese Artist Award” at the World Music Awards in 2002, making him the youngest Chinese awardee. In 2003, Nicholas founded “Post Production Office”, which was the pioneer computer graphic and special effects group in China, before gradually reaching and expanding his business to real estate, catering, and entertainment. In 2010, Nicholas won the Best Actor in the 30th Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in the movie “The Stool Pigeon”, making him the first from his era of actors born in the 80s to receive such an honorable award. Since his acting debut, Nicholas has filmed nearly 50 movies so far.
In addition to his career in music and movie, Nicholas showcased his passion and talent in cooking with the creation of TV show “Chef Nic” in 2014. At the age of 36, he was honored as the first-ever “Friend of Michelin” in 2016.

He has a HK accent now, I remembered years ago I went to his concert and he didn't have an accent then. He may move to hollywood one day I reckon.
I remembered all the booing that he got on TV and it was hard to watch - people really hated him and he have great voice. At the same time he didn't have a choice, he was paying off his dad's debts and got signed up to a music label to pay that off.
He's an infinite learner. Worked so hard at whatever he did. He'll do well.

wow I actually really enjoyed this talk. What I appreciate from this talk is actually his attitude towards "competition" or "prove" yourself, which does not feel aggressive, but indeed a very positive attitude to invest in making good quality products with creativity. I think the part I did not like is his response to people's doubts about "cooking". While I do agree that cooking is open to innovation, I believe there is value in lineage and long-time practice.
Overall, his curiosity in tech, food, music is admirable and it's interesting to see someone bring synergy to these areas.
I was a fan of nic when I was in secondary school and high school. Later when I got into pondering about philosophy and start working in academic field, my interest diminished.
Coming to know Nic more is an interesting process that allows learning and mind-opening for me!

I started cooking about 12 years ago. I really like his speech about food and sharing. I thought to myself back then why I got into cooking. and I tell someone this every year. that what better way to enjoy a good meal than to have a group of people to share with and have a great time together. more on the topic of food. I don't care if someone came from some academy or worked at a Michelin star restaurant. I see their attitude and the work they present. If there's no passion and only empty words of BS which I've seen often then having worked in a kitchen/restaurant really means nothing if the results are negative.

Where do I start, firstly thanks for the motivation cos I’m rlly lacking that. I think u r an amazing person haters can fuck off. I found the talk rlly inspirational which isn’t like me rlly cos I’m usually falling asleep during talks and stuff. I was actually surprised by the fluency of ur English. Wow. I’m from England and I’m like urm every sentence. I kind of got to know u from Sing! China and congrats to u and ur team for winning 2020. Ur defo the best judge on the show cos I thought that u were like rlly different to the others (and also cos I’m this teenage girl who crushes on celebrities yeah). I think it’s amazing that u r successful in so many diff fields. Like I’m the sort of person who wants to be good at everything and it’s rlly difficult actually cos I kind of lack self motivation but like also want to be successful. Thanks for the motivation again it was rlly helpful. I think I’ll stop here I didn’t realise I’d typed that much although I don’t care too much for sleep I think I’m gonna go sleep cos it’s about 2 in the morning :)
