  • St. Joseph, a descendant of King David, is known as the earthly father of Jesus and the husband of Mary. In the Gospel of Matthew, he discovers Mary is pregnant but, after an angelic visit in a dream, accepts her divine conception and becomes a devoted guardian. Together, they journey to Bethlehem for a census, where Jesus is born. Fleeing King Herod's threat, Joseph takes the Holy Family to Egypt, ensuring their safety. Upon Herod's death, they return to Nazareth, where Joseph, a humble carpenter, provides a loving and supportive environment for Jesus. St. Joseph is celebrated on March 19th in the Catholic Church for his pivotal role in the Holy Family and his virtues of faith and obedience.
