- Some heating radiators especially up in bedrooms, can still get warm even though the heating is not switched on.

Great video as always Al. 🔥🌟
Glad you enjoyed it
Hubby says you just need a white suit and platform shoes to complete the look Al ;) Seriously though, thank you for your videos, I'm sure they have helped a lot of people. I know they have helped us.
Maybe one day! Ha ha.
New subscriber to your channel, very helpful & informative videos. Many thanks. 👍🏻

Very informative. Thank you.
You are welcome!
Hello hun how are ya? Thanks for your help xx always useful!
You are so welcome, thanks GINA.
nice one al
Thanks Ratch, hope you are keeping well.
Thank you dereton33! Managed to drive the heat down, but now the lockshield side is leaking.
Just tighten the packing gland or repack it with PTFE tape.
@@dereton33 Thank you for the reply! Will do! 👍👍
Not really a problem in England's highest town at 1000' here Al but I'll remember the tip when I'm in Hades :-))
Used to suffer every summer with this problem but a friend told me what you've said. Now we've got all electric and it brings its own problems, have you got any ideas Al.? Got to say the shirt is something I want, where did you get it from?
Shirt was from Peacocks.
Love the shirt wheres the medallion
I only get that out on special occasions ha ha.
Great thank you, just a question I don’t really need the radiators in my bathroom and with the cost of bills I will like to keep it off, not sure what happened but now doesn’t want to turn off can I just close the water and leave it like that?, I just prefer to leave it off always. Please let me know
Yes shut off the lockshild valve and it will never get hot.
Would you recommend a combi boiler over a conventional one? In terms of reliability
No I still prefer a conventional one.
Hello and thank you so much for the video.
However when I open the cap, there is nothing I can turn, there is only a little hexagon hole in there. So what should I do? Thank you very much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
get a small Allen key to fit the hexagon, and turn clockwise.
@@dereton33 thank you very much for your reply. Let me do it and try !!! My son’s room is boiling hot now and thanks for your help. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Ok thanks. Nice
No problem 👍
Hi. I’ve done both. The guard valve I turned clockwise only 1 and half. Clockwise. How long to cool down ?
Just had new GCH fitted with new rads, one of my radiator in my bedroom is making a hissing noise near the right pipe on the radiator? How can I make it stop bud? Cheers
Open the lockshield valve fully.
@@dereton33 I’ve now noticed it’s the first 3 rads what warm up first starts making hissing/steam noises, is it possible because it’s a new system with new rads I can turn every valve open then half a turn back and control the temp with TRV’s
Thank you
Doesn't pushing the pin in under the thermo valve fix this issue?
No not always.
We only use 3 of 8 radiators in house and I turned off only 1 side but our bills were still astronomical. Could this be why??
No.
Good to how fix heater
No problem.
Turned both valves as far class clock wise as I can but radiator still on. Any ideas?
Remove one of the caps then use a small spanner or pliers on the brass collar to give it an extra tighten off..
@@dereton33thanks did that but didn't work. Called the plumber :-)
Hi Al & Jan, hope you are both keeping well. Hope you won't mind me saying but I have noticed over some time that the picture quality is slowly deteriorating and becoming quite grainy. Like I say, hope you don't mind me saying. Not a criticism of your helpful videos Al, just a friendly observation.
Thanks Cliff I will check the camera.
Cliff Carlo I’d say it’s your network connection cliff, rather than als camera
Hi Al, there is definitely a deterioration in your video quality. I'm I'm playing at 1080p on RUclips and it's quite grainy recently. Maybe it's the way they are compressing your uploads.
@@wollywotsit No, it's not that at all. Other videos are crystal clear. One or two others have also commented that they have noticed the grainy deterioration over time.
Hi Al
Is it clockwise or anti
Clockwise to turn off.
My radiator is at the star and its piping hot, why.
Faulty thermo valve.
Its OK the miniature heatwave is over
Mine come on even when the actual boiler is switched off. anyone know why that could happen?
Check the 3 way valve.
My radiator is piping hot on 0 and I can’t sleep
Turn the other valve off.
PLEASE HELP,
I have just replaced a 3 port valve on my heating
Unfortunately when the heating is on the radiators get hot,
When the water is on the water gets hot, but when both are on together
The heating takes forever to get hot,
When the water alone is on there is a surging sound of water going through the pump.
If ANYBODY can help me it is YOU.
Thanks in advance. Robert
Make sure if you have a bypass valve near the hot tank that it is only just cracked open. Also balance all the radiators.
Thank you for your advice much appreciated
Have you any videos of a bypass valve as I am a complete novice, thanks
Terrible advice on this one Al I’m afraid!
Better to deal with the problem direct & change the 3 port valve because heat has no business travelling along the heating circuit unless controls are calling for heat! And all this remedy will do is bugger up the balancing!
I think not. It`s a case of not being able to change it, where people live in rented flats and so forth , they are never going to get that valve fixed.
dereton33 I must have missed the bit in the video where you explained that!?🤔........& what makes you think they’re never gonna get a three port fixed??
dereton33 I have had the valve changed twice in the last 5 months and when a shower is taken low a behold the rads get hot, i am away to do what you have just explained in your video. Thank you.
Bang on Paul. Sorry Al but unless you address the root of the problem (the diverter valve) turning off the warm radiator will just lead to a different radiator getting the unwanted heat.
