Dude, I just found this because i don't know anything about this game yet and i needed to figure out how sdi works. Damn you make really cool videos! I love the editing and the thought that went into it and I'm excited to watch your other stuff.
Awesome video man super helpful. Watched hella guides when I started playing and retained none of it, a few months later I’m watching this and DI suddenly clicked in my head
easily subscribed. nice shit here, I wish there was this kind of video when I was beginning to play the game, your helping a lot of people with those, keep it up. respect
As someone who's pretty good at falco fox, I took a break and got back on slippi recently, and jesus fuck foxes have gotten really annoying to deal with, you cant just run at and melt them anymore they play like weenies. This is some mango wisdom so you know its facts, the key to the falco/fox matchup as bird is letting the fox chase you and catching him in approaches, rather than chasing him, since hes faster. This is obviously a broad thing and doesnt always exactly apply, but esp vs non-approaching foxes you just have to be more patient with choosing your battles and quick with tricky movement to find the openings and kills. Getting better at edgeuarding spacies will also help a ton, anticipating side bs and catching shortens by grabbing ledge, figuring out which angles you can dsmash or which you should ginger nair, helps a ton in closing out stocks esp vs fox in particular
I 100% agree. When I first started the matchup felt impossible. As Falco you gotta create an illusion of when the bird is going in. Timing mixups with lasers/aerials catches them offguard. Falco fox is a constant cat & mouse chase with you being the mouse.
@@Urged1 tru fakeout approaching with lasers is probably the strongest/safest aggressive option vs fox, they fuckin hate getting lasered and it keeps them locked down, very similar to falcon and to some degree marth, as well as birb ditto. Gotta have that Jerry energy to fight the 20XX Toms out there
I’ve always heard people talk about DI but I never really tried to understand it but use it (probably not optimally). As soon as you mentioned vectors I was like oh this is just physics class, now I know which way to DI 😂
DI In means to tilt the control stick towards the attacker so you won't fly as far making it easier to recover but you're in an easier position to combo. DI Out means to tilt the control stick away from the attacker so you'll fly farther to avoid getting combo-ed but may send you into the blast zone. Note that DI will not take effect if you hold against the attack's launch trajectory (varies move to move). Example, if you're sent at a 45 degree angle you don't want to angle your control stick 45 degrees in that direction. I hope that clears it up!
hehe i'm a fox main :3 i went to my first tournament in years and i 3-0'd my 1st opponent who was a falco main. (i then got 3-0'd by the pikachu who went on to win the tournament, and also got 3-0'd by a marth lmao)
Fuck fox?? Yo, *fuck* Falco. Falco laser might be the most oppressive projectile I've dealt with in any fighting game at all, bar maybe 3rd Strike Akuma air fireball, but we can parry in that game so like idk.
The editing of this video is amazing, but to be honest the script is lacking in terms of simplicity because it lacks the explanation of how it works especially since it's geared to dummies. To someone that knows these concepts already it makes sense but since this is a teaching video it misses the mark.
@@Urged1 just watched a bunch of your videos and they are quite good keep up the good work, In terms of this one I guess what I'm trying to get at is that you introduce topics like combo di and survival di but then you explain how it works using terms like "hold away" or "hold toward stage" the concept of survival di is old school so if your video is for people that already know it your just talking about nothing and if your video is for people that don't know about survival di "hold toward stage" is misleading and won't help them learn survival di. So it felt like some parts of the video was geared towards new players, but then other parts you complete gloss over techniques like they should know what you mean.
Thank you for the 1k views!! 🎉 Next episode will be EVEN BETTER can't wait till you guys see it :))
my biggest nightmare is when falco players learn to think
LMFAO TRUE
Some of the best editing I've ever seen

Do you just hold the stick in a direction for survival DI or do you keep spamming the input?
You hold the shtick

Where did you get those cel shaded models?
I got them here at www.animelee.xyz/ . It's super easy to install
well-edited video! However, fox slander will not be tolerated, lmk your slippi code so we can settle this like men deserve to
sure, just give me a sec..
you should honestly have more views that this wtf
So can you not DI the direct opposite direction? Like if I’m flying right can I DI straight left?
Yes, you’re right. DI-ing like this sends you the same trajectory as if you didn’t DI at all.
wheres the source on that peach thumbnail you clickbaited me with, i already know how to DI
Are you looking for the image of Peach or the skin itself?

What about slight DI?
Truthfully I just didn’t think about mentioning it when I was writing the script. If I ever make a DI mixups video then I would def talk about it
What does DI in and out mean?
DI In means to tilt the control stick towards the attacker so you won't fly as far making it easier to recover but you're in an easier position to combo.
DI Out means to tilt the control stick away from the attacker so you'll fly farther to avoid getting combo-ed but may send you into the blast zone.

as a falcon main, honestly Falco is worse than Fox
that's fair. dealing with lasers must be annoying af

To someone that knows these concepts already it makes sense but since this is a teaching video it misses the mark.
Do you think focusing more on Smash mechanics would've made it more digestible? As if I'm presenting it to someone completely new to Smash games.
