      Hi, I have a question. Aren't the cyclic quadrilateral theorem and the angels from the same segment theorem contradictory? Because you make a quadrilateral in a circle by drawing two angels from the same two points, just with one below the chord and one above. So both theorems should apply...

    • @mathsgenie7808
      @mathsgenie7808  7 лет назад +12

      super void no, the angles in the same segment have to go in the same direction (if that makes sense?) When you draw a chord and split a circle in two you get a major segment and a minor segment - angles in the major segment and equal and angles in the minor segment are equal.

      @@abdalrahmanamrmostafa1975 I thought that at first, but I think a cyclic quadrilateral has to have four points which touch the circumference.

    For future reference. Could you clarify the rules for what qualifies as a cyclic quadrilateral? because all the vertices have to touch the circle and the quadrilateral inside doesn't count as one. So it's very easy to apply the wrong rules when finding the angle. Thanks

    "Angles in the same segment are equal"
    "Angles in a semi circle are always 90deg"
    These are basically the same theorem; the segment in the semi-circle is the diameter. I've neither tested nor researched this, but I'm willing to bet that if you had a segment that was half the diameter, the angle produced would be 45deg.

      I'm late, but:
      An isosceles triangle is made up of two angles that are equal, and one that is different. As we already know that the top angle is 125°, and that all angles in a triangle add up to 180°, we just have to minus 125° from 180°. We get 55° which we then divide into two to find x.

    maths genie why is that when you gave us the questions after you said the theormes, on the last question that had the cyclic quadrilateral .....why did you use the circumfrence as a point for the shape instead of the point at the center ...is it because the center is clearly obtuse or is it cause of another math principle

    • @blupellkingras300
      @blupellkingras300 5 лет назад

      i dont get it ...cause if the y of that same question is 160 then it means the cyclic theorem doesnt apply because then the sum of the opposite angles is 260 not 180
