That last question… As a fan and an amateur racer myself, Greg became a household name in my home. Being a tall guy myself, I watched Greg and emulated his technique. He inspired the ten years that I raced from a beginner to an expert. As a fan, my daughter and I would wake up early to watch the World Cups. If we weren’t rooting for Peaty, we were rooting for Greg. I later met him at Crank Brothers in Laguna. He was there with Peaty, Luca, and Loris. What a great crew! Greg was an absolute class act. He’s a hero that did not and still does not disappoint. Cheers GOAT.
Man I would love to see Greg take a win this year 🙏🏾
You can see the renewed energy in Greg’s eyes as he’s fired up for the season with Norco.
Greg... I hope you find that final win to close off your career the way you would like, then pay it forward to the new up & coming riders. As the most consistent DH rider ever, you’re a true inspiration!
The GOAT! South African Grit personified.
The Elon Musk of mt biking lol
@@Wyatt1314. He is not elon. He had morals and aint a cunt
Wow that was great...What a legend, I remember starting to ride in 2006 and his name being THE name in DH. I hope he finds a win to close out his career the way he wants to. Also, seeing Stevie Smith in some of the clips is a tear jerker :/
What a ride.
Great documentary. The transition to the Norco Race director / racer role is a great fit by the sound of it. We're now holding thumbs for a Norco podium. The brand has always been highly regarded and this just adds to the allure. Loved the SA trails featured and behind the scenes look at your family life. I also enjoy the differences of opinions with Jordy; a racer that is in tune with his bike and knows what he ants/needs, vs a tech guy that knows his product. Healthy differences, as long as the racer gets what he needs at the end of the day.
A good production! Really engaging.
I'm impressed with the honesty in the views/perspectives from the various people. Pity they didn't get someone from the current Sydicate to contribute. It does show that there is always more than one side to a story. As disappointing as the way in which the split happened is, I'm just chuffed that the GOAT has found a space where he can continue to give value to a team (and still race) - and you can see how it's clicked for him, from his energy in the last few bits of his interview! I'm looking forward to this. And yes, I do hope he does kick some young ass this season 🙂
Im from BC and Norco is a household name here. Norco has been on the leading edge of the bell curve for decades in bike design. Their focus on racing combined with Greg, Gracie, Lucas riding for them. I expect big things in the future. Been a rough start to the season but still looking strong. Greg has never seemed more content. Well done.
Is cove from that area too
@Wyatt1314. Yes, Cove Bikes is still based in North Vancouver BC. I am pretty sure they no longer produce frames though.
@@JustJake77 ive got an awesome 2011 g-sp*t with fox coilover shock it's great
@Wyatt1314. I've had the pleasure of riding all the old Cove bikes. Still hold up as a soild bike. Ripp the shit outta that G-Spot!
@JustJake77 The motivation works bro I am gonna do just that, I'm putting her back together, Manitou 1 fork, Shimano short-cage derailleur, Race face Northshore crankset! 🤙
Lank lewe die GOAT! Greg Minnaar one of our best Sport Ambassadors! 🇿🇦💪🏽
Great doco, cool insights. It’s a real shame to see the split between Santacruz and Greg after so many years and also to see how emotional Rob was. Great to see Greg so stoked on Norco and fired up for another season.
A legend on and off the bike 🙌
Loved watching this.Greg is a Warrior but where was Rob Warner in all of this,,he ~Raced and For see seen alot ofGregs Race career as a Media man on Greg ,His time and knowledge should have been in this Doc ...Bring Back Rob Warner.
I still remember that Maritzburg race and the noise like it was yesterday. Always doing Maritzburg, Natal and South Africa proud 🇿🇦
The GOAT 💚
This was an amazing docu, more of this please (with Greg winning tho, obvs!)
legend 🇿🇦
What a watch! Greg you are the GOAT on and off the bike! 🔥
What a legend
What a great hommage to an great athlete👍
that scene when the Machanic is more interested in the dog really showed them up.
what
You might want to go back and see who was doing what job last year.
Thank you for sharing this!! GREG!!! SA legend!! 🐐🐐🐐🐐
Nice! Really good document. This makes it more interesting to watch the uci dh races 🎉❤
the GOAT, so good!
Actual tears in my eyes bru🤍
I really really wish you all the best in your life, you are an enormous inspiration for anyone anywhere!
I what a champ. I would just love to see him win another race this year. But then be constantly as a team on the podium next year. 🤙
So good to see a proper grown up documentary about one of the great’s of the sport, surprising to see Rob getting upset, not sure what it tells us but it’s definitely something! Also Steve took on the elder statesmen roll at the Syndicate so Greg was always going to struggle finding a place within Santa Cruz especially after Rob left. Cool to see Kathy back in there, she is, without a doubt my favourite bike person!
Thank you, a great insight to a great rider and ambassador for Mtn biking.
Crazy to see the technology of bikes from years ago to today . Technology definitely caught up !
The man the minnarr the maestro and peaty alongside as well as all the rest 💯💯✨💛🤘
I am not the biggest fan of Greg but I am Big fan of this Video! 😃 Great job guys 😎✌🏻
Saw Greg crossing the line in Ft Bill with his tyre off from about 20 metres away. Almost brought ters to my eyes.
Legend
Fast forward 20 years and we’ll be watching Asa tell a similar story, if he’s lucky he’ll find his Sessler to guide him through sooner rather than later
Built SA strong
💪 ♥
Absolute legend🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Haha good old CG in the pool. That guy was a legend 😎
The Goat
When I was a kid, Norco was a Kmart and Canadian tire brand.
G.O.A.T.
The Best big air minnar
Champion.
🤩👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥🐐 bixa loka xamaaaando sempre !
How good does retirement following 2021 world champs look now? Also born in 1981, I'm a huge Minnaar fan. Hey, didn't he get 2nd in Andorra in 2023, by 1/10th of a second? Why not mention this? Good luck with Norco and I love the focus on wins for the teammates. But if your moment as a racer doesn't come soon, please just focus on the team and hang up the number plate. Walk away with grace.
🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
Seems lke somebody couldn't get the rights to Gregs legendary performances over the last 20 years 😅 doc is lacking to be fair. Theres so much more to Gregs story and Im looking forward to when Red Bull cover it 🔥
Greg for world champs this year 🔥😎
he is like the grandfather of downhill
I wonder what the full story was with Santa Cruz, he didn’t really go into it, maybe he can’t. Maybe they have moved onto Jackson.
It does seem like there's more to the story.
Reading between the lines I suspect Greg wanted to move into a director / management / advisory role post riding but there was no space for him and their focus shifted to younger riders
I'm having his baby!!
I like my own reply, then, replied to my own reply
OMG! I can like my own reply to a reply! Madness!
Some elite athletes don't know when to stop.
Some businessmen don't know when to call it a day and enjoy the tons of money they received when they decided to sell their own company.
There is no such thing as retiring from racing. Next year he will compete at junior boys.
So now I need to sell my Santa Cruz bike and buy a Norco. 😮Ek is bly vir jou vir die geleentheid.
Weird that Lyle didn't get a title card.
He got almost as much screen time as Greg! The star of suggestive editing.
@@NickMosca I mean when Greg went off about the lack of commitment of Certain Pit Crew Members you have to imagine that's who he meant, which makes it so much more remarkable that he featured that much in the documentary. Who is this unnamed man who likes patting dogs? It's a mystery.
Where is Lyle nowadays?
@@tmottone Still an amazing mechanic for the Syndicate and petting all the dogs of DH UCI
Steve Peats ego: “Giving me a run for the money!”.
Peaty… Your “run” was over 10 years ago!!!
Pffft. Diddums. 🎻
The video released 6 days ago show him riding a Trek Slash saying he races for Santa Cruz Sindicate? OK it says may 2023 but anyway kind of nonsense. Also I used to love Greg in the beginning but in the latest years all of his interviews after races he just put the blame of not good results in everything kind of weird posture... I miss the younger Greg...
Is the mechanic really bitching about Greg's input? Terrible team at Syndicate. Congrats on giving Greg the middle finger. No wonder Greg moved across to Norco.
Jordie? he's Fox mechanic, not Syndicate mechanic
-legend but never to make the podium again sorry greg, there are to many new fast guys now time to hang up the dh bike and get e bike
In Robs famous words" Never write off Greg Minnaar!"
He probably already has an ebike, same as all the other racers 🤔
This comment aged well 😆
Haha, this aged very well. What a 🤡 comment.
