It’s so wild seeing how Yu-Gi-Oh! evolved from this to Duelist Kingdom. You can see the same plot lines revisited in Duelist Kingdom & throughout the series. Remember, if your idea isn’t getting traction it may not be a bad idea, it just may need some fine tuning and it’ll be a success!
They didn't want to reair the arcs that released the previous year but they do happen so they just get slapped in DK. And the Kaiba backstory in a filler arc
The series was actually already very popular in Japan at the time, after all the manga was published in the hugely popular Shonen Jump magazine. I don’t believe it’s ever been publicly stated why Toei stopped doing the anime but by the time studio gallop took over the manga had already pivoted to focus on the card game so instead of re animating the early manga chapters they picked up where the Toei show left off so they could get straight to the duelist kingdom arc. The rehashes of stuff from season zero are present in the anime only as a reference for older fans and so that newer fans could somewhat experience the parts of the story they missed
I really liked Yugioh season 0. Literally my only complaint is it being so short. With the way the show plays out so quickly, it makes it feel like the world isn’t really at stake. There is also a movie that is related to a kid(not Joey) pulling Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Kaiba kidnapping him to claim it, leaving Yugi to save him. I also have some original Bandai cards I use in a deck. It’s a Blue-Eyes engine ftk exodia deck. I mostly play with it by myself to pass the time, like a game of solitaire. My 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons and 5 pieces of Exodia are all the bandai cards.
22:19 is it odd that I think that what Atem does to vein women is worse than what he does to a lot of other people? Like did he actually disfigure that teacher? Did he technically give that Mean Girl a mental disorder because she was an evil teenager? Also, I now have the cliché opinion that Seto Kaiba is the best bad guy in this series.
Who tf are Joey, Tea, and Tristan? You always mention them when Jonouchi, Anzu, and Honda are on screen, but I don't see any other named characters in those shots (This is not a serious comment lol)
