Is Tylenol Safe During Pregnancy?

We’ve got new and improved data on the relationship between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and diagnoses of Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual Disability in offspring. Have we been right or wrong to recommend it during pregnancy?

Thank you, I'm currently pregnant and had repeated fevers early in my pregnancy due to a sinus infection and it's nice to know that taking the acetaminophen was in fact safer than exposing my baby to my high fevers.

For sure. There’s lots of evidence for high temperatures causing birth defects. We saw it with the Zika virus and it’s why pregnant women shouldn’t use hot tubs.

I will never get used to that name. I have no reason to argue that Paracetamol is a better name, except that it's used everywhere outside the US. :D
But at least I'm grateful this channel doesn't use brand names. 😁

Acetaminophen rarely tests better than a placebo for pain relief. My guess is that its lack of efficacy is strongly related to it's lack of impact on pregnancy.

It seems like it works for some people (like me) and not others which confounds the data. Some people can't take NSAIDs so it's good to have paracetamol as an option.
