  • The next set of 3.5" disks from my shoebox of floppies are one entitled "Window Dressing" and one with "Windows Desktop pics, BMPs, Files, Etc" on the cover. Both of these disks look like Windows theme and enhancement collections, so let's dive in and see what beautiful screen savers and pictures await.

I'll be damned. I'm pretty sure I had the Coffee Mug program on a Win95 machine. There were so many weird "toys" for Windows back then. At some point, I had a screen saver called "Gates does Windows" which had a cartoonish Bill Gates with a squee gee (sp?) washing windows.

cement1k was definitely a joke based on combining Windows CE, Me, and NT, i.e. CEMeNT.

I had hoped an immature shark would have made a lot of fart noises and maybe mooned the user. Oh well.

When you said you don't have a Windows ZIP program, why didn't you just run pkunzip in an MS-DOS Prompt within Windows?

I knew about Catz and Dogz but not Mugz.

Have you thought about sharing the shareware from these disks? Some of it might be hard to find.

Yes! I have. I plan to actually. It's on my never ending list of things I keep meaning to get round to but always get pushed aside in favour of other things on the list list.

I know this is incredibly old, but we didn't get to see "tile2.bmp" you showed tile.bmp, made it your background and then went straight to tile3.bmp :(

Damn....Windows 3.... I was bored at work a while back, so I went and installed all Windows versions in VMWare. Was fun to fool around in Win 3 again.

Instead of trying to figure out where the Close command is on the Window menu, you could simply double-click the menu icon to close the window. Or press Alt+F4.

interesting... I might have to do this with my old ST disks... I have some games I made as a kid somewhere!

.clp files are saved Clipboard contents. You open those from Clipboard Viewer. (Or Clipbook Viewer, as it's known in WFW.)

Didn't the coffee mug have a mod for it, so overlaying windows wouldn't interfere with the temperature of your beany beverage? Hot coffee mod or something like that?

Why isn't this changer program working? Because you didn't take the time to properly read the instructions. You should make more of these videos again though. I love looking through old disks, especially ones I find in second hand shops.

I think the manual said for you to run the desktop changer .exe with a /c parameter briefly there. :)

No, I wouldn't want to use Wingdings as my major Windows font. It makes everything quite unreadable. LOL

I m curious to know if modern antivirus programmes can detect really old viruses.

    • @Icelink256
      @Icelink256 7 лет назад

Some of them absolutely can! An artist friend of mine had a virus from 1995-ish on a floppy disk that he was archiving, his antivirus software detected the age-old virus, right away.

Have you really never heard of Windows CEMeNT? Used to be quite the popular computer joke, up there with PEBKAC errors.

2:22 I want to reverse-engineer that, and put icons all over the desktop that show a shiny bit whenever your (glowing) mouse cursor goes near them.
Edit: 5:25 I WANT THIS IN WINDOWS 10.
