They'd have to be pretty dedicated to do that, and there's nothing really sensitive here anyway. I almost didn't bother to blur anything. But thanks for letting me know.

@@mikehopley Hi Mike. I have been searching for the latest pursuit indicator that Rand118 has been using. The one he uses has clearer jump numbers. Could you kindly tell me where I can get that one? The latest I have is - Extended Pursuit Indicator x24 with numbers v.1.3.ftl
Thank you, Mike, as always! By the way, I experienced the ion slip through a blocking drone when it was positioned to a side of the enemy weapon - after turning the fullscreen mode off and restarting the game app (for the background crew training). I didn't turn off the sound for the FTL that time, so I reacted to that promptly and witnessed it personally. IIRC, that didn't happen just after the game app restart, but some time after. So something alters the FPS in the process or it has to do with game app restarting ?bugs. Some off-topic game behaviour instances, but maybe you experienced these as well and could share your expertize on those: 1) Sometimes, but quite rarely, an Asteroid field event slows down the game significantly - a slowmotion with a suspected fps drop (next time I will use RTSS to see if that is the case). 2) Reloading a savefile by using the FTL Savegame Manager alters an event (e.g. a shop opens, different event flavor text for the beacon fight - though the ship is the same; sometimes the enemy ship's hull value is diminished -if it was damaged before the re-load), and occasionally a beacon map gets re-rolled (that could be happening more often, or even every time, but is visible only in sectors which allow nebulas). (Perhaps loading a savefile should be performed when the game app is closed).
(1) I've never seen that myself, though it's not uncommon to hear of players having issues with framerate in asteroids. Disabling dynamic backgrounds is the usual fix, when it's a regular problem. (2) There are lots of bugs with Save & Exit. I don't think the Savegame Manager itself is at fault here. I avoid exiting the game during a fight, and also often at stores. Reloading during a fight will reset enemy hull to sector 1 values and may change other things too. Event-generated stores will vanish -- that even happens if you have boarders on your ship, and exit the store screen to deal with the boarders! Drone control at stores will switch to a defence drone bundle (for 85 scrap), and crew skills at stores will be re-rolled. The beacon changes sounds like the mixed event bug, which is rare. See Chewbacca's extensive bug list: www.reddit.com/r/ftlgame/comments/cgcna5/full_bug_list_version_3/
@@mikehopley Thank you for pointing out to the bug list! I knew about it (you also posted the link on Wiki game bugs page), but didn't thoroughly read it to comprehend the game-breaking nature of the save/continue action. I didn't have issues with the game, because I didn't save/continue for background crew training: I used 'non-native' fullscreen mode - so the game app window can be collapsed and the game continues. But the screenshots (for uploads) made in this non-native mode were blurry, so I permanently switched to the "Fullscreen: On (Native)" mode. Switching between these fullscreen modes requires a game restart, which is essentially a Save+Exit + Continue. In this regard, CE 'moderate' speedhack mode can prove useful to me. P.S. I tried installing CE before, and built-in (Win 10) and 3rd-party AV solutions didn't have false-positive detections. Now Win10 AV is more paranoid with it. There is also an option to allow an app (detected as a potential threat) execution instead of temporary disabling the AV. Which option is 'safer' though ) ?
@@outryder7773 Allowing the app as an exception is good. But I found it's not easy to know how to do this when installing CE. Turning the AV off temporarily is simple and also safe. But of course it should be turned on afterwards!
This may be obvious but you can of course also use Cheatengine to do a bunch of other fun things in FTL. Like infinite scrap, althought would be quite hard spending more than 5k. Other things one could also get infinite of would be health, fuel, missiles and drone parts. Can even lower enemy ship health (not completely kill I'm quite sure). But that's more actual cheaty behavior of course compared to saving time with speedups.
Yeah me neither. I’m a slightly above casual player with 500 hours on Steam (more uncounted before the game was on Steam). All ships bested the Flagship on hard. Even gotten all achievements and unlock quests on hard (not worth it, just a bit completionist) All to say that I’m just sharing some personal FTL Cheatengine findings on a video discussing some uses for it.
Insert epic Scott clip: www.twitch.tv/scottonesiewilson/clip/SteamyAmazingWolfWOOP?filter=clips&range=all&sort=time Epic in that sentence refers both to the clip and to the Scott.
Theres a much better way, the modding api hyperspace includes plenty of qol improvements including a built in speed hack, simply set what speed you want with the built in console "SPEED val" and you can toggle it with the tilde key!
That assumes you want to install Hyperspace, which I don't -- partly because it changes things about the game by default, which it shouldn't. Besides, I want two speedhack settings, not just one. And Hyperspace doesn't provide the convenient crew training that Cheatengine does.
@@ooofexe7210 Actually I do. Steam achievements were introduced after 1.6.9 and personally I prefer to have them. And I like to have stuff on its official most recent patch level. Call it a character flaw or superstition if you like, but that's how I jive 😅
So, it angers the virus protection _and_ it wants to install crapware? That seems like one of those XOR things. Either you're squeaky clean despite doing something that looks dodgy, or you're as dodgy as you look.
It used to be possible to get a portable version that doesn't anger anything as you obviously don't have to install it. I can't find the link to it on their website anymore, but personally that's what I am using.
Anybody seen this? www.twitch.tv/cowutopia/clip/CrispyBoringPonyThunBeast Here a speedhack-powered chain laser removes one shield and hits a room with the same shot. So I think the speedhack may make the game worse at determining the exact position of projectiles. Theoretically, ships with rooms close to their shield bubble may not even be safe to train with? Though I haven't seen it since, so maybe it was an older version of the game/CE?
Very well made video! love the extra details and 'ethics' you've put in
Thank you!
AFAIK blur isn't destructive so someone could "unblur" your information FYI.

Any help with this. I disabled V sync in my settings and it still hard caps? Thanks. Does is matter that I'm running FTl through steam?

Hmmm, that looks like maybe an issue with pushing the speed too high (I max at 30x). It might even depend how fast your computer is.
