  • This building was completed in 1907. This elevator was modernized at least once, but is likely a modernization/replacement of an original elevator. I think this was previously a Pacific elevator based on the hall indicator. I really hope to ride an elevator with these fixtures that is original.
This is a single elevator (the ONLY elevator in the building too) yet it has destination dispatch! There is little to no benefit in terms of efficiency using destination dispatch for only a single elevator. In this case, my best guess is it is used for the purpose of security.
Unfortunately, I was not able to ride this elevator. An employee did question me, and they said that the elevator is locked off (and based on the sign, I'm pretty sure this elevator is indeed completely locked off).
There are plans to potentially convert this office building into a hotel. If the plans proceed, I'm curious if they will keep this elevator as-is, or convert it from Destination Dispatch to conventional selective-collective to avoid guest confusion!
Fixtures: Otis Compass, Pacific hall indicator
    Year installed/modernized: 1950s?-1970s?
    Date of recording: October 2022
