As I've said before, you've really touched something here that the community has really responded to, and look what just happened with the King Tone Fuzz. I think there is great potential here for an all-time-classic version 2. Personally, I think switchable Si/Ge transistors, input trim, bias control, and tone control are all great potential improvements to really take it to that level.
Running it into a tube vs solid state amp makes *far* less of a difference than running it into a clean amp vs overdriven amp, regardless of whether it’s tube or solid state. It’s all about the stacking of gain stages; for instance if you run a fuzz into an overdrive pedal and then into a clean amp, it will sound as good as running the fuzz straight into a driven amp.
I run the fuzz and the TT both in Solid State amps and valve amps. For Solid State amps, the clean channel works best IMHO (I have the Boss Katana 100 and the Orange CR 120). Both are great Solid State amps - and they will provide that glassy sound as well 🙂
I run fuzzes on Solid State and Modeling amps all the time, they work just fine. Just play around a little with the settings until you find the sound/sounds you like.
I have a super reverb tonemaster and it works great with fuzz, od and other effects. You can get really awesome tones on 1 watt. So great for people like me who live in an apartment, can’t get the sound i want with tube amps without my neighbors calling the police.
Sweet content and explanation. I may have to rethink my rig..definitely gonna be getting one of those pedals from you guys. Been wanting a joe B fuss face, but availability and not much demo's have me leaning towards your pedal. Keep up the jamming!!
Hi Chris, I just got two of your pedals Fuzz and texan twang, can you give tips how to set them in signal chain: 1) Twang into Fuzz or Fuzz into twang 2) Both pedals after or before Wah (Xotic) 3) better to power by batteries or power supply? Thank you in advance!
Pedal Pawn fuzz is one of my favorite fuzzes. My favorite is the standard Hendrix FFM3, yours is similar just a little different but still great nonetheless
Hi Chris. An old guitar player like me sure knows how to "volume" a fuzz pedal 😄 Anyway, the one you buile and send me is great ! Sometimes , I feel just like Jimi...without his fingers 😆
I always prefer it dirty. 😂 If you aren't able to turn your valve amp up to get tube distortion run your Fuzz into a gain pedal. I use a Boss DS1 but you get different fuzz tones from different drive pedals you run the fuzz into. Its a great rabbit hole to get into. Great video Chris
Great video, very helpful. Did you consider to use an overdrive pedal after the fuzz to emulate the driven sound of an amp when cranking a tube amp is not an option?
I always find you need a really good 'transparent' overdrive pedal pre-amp pedal, OR amp-in-a-box type pedal to make that work well - it's still never quite the same though but definitely can be awesome!
Yeah glassy is the word. I am glassy challenged to be honest. You made that strat and that pedal sound great. What amp are you using. thanks. Greetings from America.
You forgot to say that you need a germanium fuzz to clean up well with the guitar pot. Or a not more than 2 silicon transistors fuzz. And no diode clipping off course... Stacking an OD after the fuzz is a good idea with a clean amp.
wow.nice tone and nice playing. I've never heard that expression glassy until the last few years. it's funny the first time I heard it i knew exactly what was meant. I think I heard it from Steve vai first and he was referring to single coils. do humbuckers do the same thing......Dunno Demo's are so much better with good playing. Bravo Mr Pawn. Bye for now.
it’s funny how accurate the word glassy describes that sound. works so much better than something like thin or tinny because those have a negative connotation to them
@@PedalPawn So first I turn down the gain on the amp until I get the clean sound with the guitar volume at 3, then I adjust the fuzz until I get the clean sound
I’ve an issue with fuzzes which doesn’t seem to show in this video, which is the difference in volume from the amp when the guitar volume is rolled up or down. If I set the volume in the amp so the guitar is audible when the guitar volume is rolled down, then I get a massive boost in amp volume when I turn the guitar volume up… and then my band yells at me😢. Can someone help me so the volume stays relatively consistent in both cases? I have the Pawn Fuzz, sounds incredible, but loud 😂
Lol at the way he holds the pick. We’re all so unique, I love it .😊
Great job discerning the different tones and gains between the two settings. Awesome playing...some Hendrix meets SrV🎸Great Video🎸
Thank you very much mate, really appreciate it 🚀🤠🎸

exactly.. because what does an overdrive do?
This!
Just bought this pedal yesterday! Lol good timing
Hey guys. Love your vids. Would you say your Texan Twang wouldnt work in a Solid State aswell?

So glad I got these pedals - thanks Chris!
Thanks for the support Richard 🤠
Love the sound at sustain. Raw!! I been practicing the fast up and down strumming. So much harder than it looks. For me anyhow lol. Thanks Chris

Great advice, Chris ! 👍🎸

Well done demo! Thank you!

Another great video with some amazing playing too 😊🎸
The first lick of the Hendrixy jam sounded a lot like the first lick of the solo from Have a Cigar by David Gilmour

@@3rdtonefromthesun For me it works very well with te volume knob a little bit down, say 8,5/9. On 10 it can get a bit muddy.
Very nice video! THX

Very expressive!
By the way, the best trick is to put all knobs at full...and control with guitar volume pot.
Someday i will buy one of your pedals
If you have a solid state amp you can probably finesse some good fuzz tones by adding a decent overdrive pedal before the amp
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day
Incredible
Good to know😃

@@usernameunk I like the term 'wiry' :)
Would you put a wah pedal before or after? I have a Jim Dunlop cry baby... thanks
Do you have a treble bleed in your strat?
Is it possible to get this tone on Boss Katana 100? 😝
A good fuzz pedal, by lowering the volume of the guitar the sound should be clean even if you use a dirty amp?
Thanks for the comment. Yes that’s correct 🤗🚀

Hi bro try to put a studio compressor/limiter on the fx loop (send-return)
Will it run on battery
It sure does 🔋
🤘👍🏿
Uuuuh 💪🏻me Like 👍🏻
ummmmm- you forgot to link the fuzz up with a bit crusher pedal
My fuzz turns into a radio. Why does that happen?
I LOVE YOUR PEDALS
Thanks so much for the support! ❤️🚀
this more Jimi fuzz tone and not so much punk rock tone.
Eddy Grant mastered it in my opinion ruclips.net/video/8rZeqvel4Cg/видео.html
When you came whit a fuzz in the eighties, you where for sure you will kicked out off the
Band!
