Back in 1980, I saw a 289 swapped into a Mazda RX-2 Capella. We built a 12A engine for him but it wasn't enough. He turned up at our workshop and the front springs were about 2cm from the bump stops. Only saw it once but the Capella weighed in a about 930kg with the rotary so this thing would have gone like crazy....... in a straight line that is. Stock brakes so hauling up the lump of "Detroit Wonder Metal" in the front would have been fun! There was also a Mazda Bongo 1000 with a Rover 3.5 V8. mounted in the cargo section and some form of transaxle in the rear. Good times!

Looks like someone added 1974 1/2 GT fenders. The fenders were changed for the rubber bumper fitment. during that time. If you look at the later style front turn signals, you'll see a difference. That grill looks like it's from a 63-70 or 71 timeframe or there abouts. The split rear bumper was a 1 year only and desirable.

I had a later model MGB GT which had the black rubber bumpers, which meant that the side indicators sat higher. The earlier models had the chrome bumpers which allowed the side indicators to be fitted lower. Good luck.

Are you located in Central Florida? I am getting ready to start a MG 302 restoration and swap, and I was wondering if you are in Central Florida in case I have any questions...LOL.

Why man - buy a Sunbeam Tiger .

Why this over a Tiger? You can build a Ford V8 B for somewhere around 1/5th to 1/10th the price of Tiger. That's why.
Also, the B engine bay is MUCH better for a V8 than the Tiger, it also has a longer wheelbase.
V8 Bs are a fun relatively easy swap if you know what you're doing or willing to learn. $1000 car, $500 engine, cutoff wheels, and a welder and then it's party time.
