#JudasPriest #Painkiller #Cover Видеоклипы
Speed Thrills, Speed Kills - Choose Wisely!
The song is "Painkiller" by British thrash, metal, speed metal band Judas Priest. It was written by the band's vocalist Rob Halford and guitarists K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton for their 12th studio album also named 'Painkiller'. It was recorded at Miraval Studios in France and Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands between Jan - Mar 1990 and released on Sep 3, 1990.
According to SongFacts, "The song is about The Painkiller, a personage created by Judas Priest. He is sent to the world to destroy evil and rescue mankind." The album cover depicts a cyborg superhero and the lyrics tell the story of that character.
The song and album were well received by the metalhead community. The album also did well on the charts hitting #26 in the US and UK and a respectable #29 in Canada. It did best in Germany peaking at #7. The song however managed only #74 in the UK and did not chart in the US or Canada.
This collab features Girish Pradhan on vocals and Manou Rao on guitars. According to Mike, Girish, "is one of India's most astonishing Rock voices. His band plays huge concerts in India, mainly Hard Rock Cover Shows. So Girish and Manou have performed together when Manou was still a child. Girish can sing ANYTHING. This is just one facet of what he is able to do. He also has some great showmanship to offer..."
I had a chance to chat briefly with Manou and Sina -
RO: How did you make contact with Sina to get involved in the "Painkiller" project?
MANOU: One of Sina’s huge fans who has also been following me for some time had spoken to us about a potential collaboration with Sina. Since I turned 16 recently, my parents were now OK for me to be exposed on social media and my dad got in touch with Mike for a potential collaboration. I am really proud that my first exposure will be with Sina.
RO: Do you play any other instruments and for how long?
MANOU: The guitar is my main instrument. However, I do play a bit of piano and drums as well.
RO: Is your family musical or was your aptitude a surprise for them?
MANOU: Yes, I do come from a musical family; my grandmother is an Indian Classical musician.
RO: Mike said your favourite band is Pink Floyd. That's a long way off from the thrash / speed metal style of Judas Priest. What other bands have been influential to you? What do you currently listen to?
MANOU: Yes, although David Gilmour is my favourite guitarist, my early influences were driven by all forms of 70’s Rock spanning from Classic Rock to Hard Rock (Led Zeppelin/Deep Purple) to Metal (Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne). I currently listen to more progressive music like Dream Theater and Polyphia including a bit of Jazz Fusion. The choice of Painkiller was to give us all an interesting challenge and at the same time a song that gives space for the vocals, guitar and drums to truly express themselves.
RO: When did you start playing guitar? Were you primarily self-taught or did you take lessons?
MANOU: I started learning guitar at the age of 7 in India. I was lucky to be mentored by an amazing Indian guitarist, Tony Das, who has accompanied me through these early years. Since our family moved to France a few years back, I took Master classes to improve my technique and am currently Studying Music in the Montpellier Conservatory.
RO: Is there is anything else that you'd like Sina's fans to know?
MANOU: Sina is a huge inspiration to me with what she has achieved. In addition to being a fantastic drummer, she is a true professional and so humble. This is indeed an honour for me. From my side I would like to use music as a way to bridge or be a crossover between generations, geographies and genres. It is in this light that I soon plan to launch my own RUclips channel fully based on collaborations with different musicians across the globe using Rock as the base.
RO: I know some of your fans will be surprised at the choice of a thrash / speed metal song since you'd stated you didn't like the genre. Was it imply for the challenge or some other reason?
SINA: You are right about thrash metal, I still don't really like listening to this genre. Both Manou and I don't usually do metal, so this was outside of our comfort zone. We both wanted to accept the challenge, though. I'm really glad I did this, it took a lot of work to get it right, but I learned a lot. There will be more collaborations with Manou, but no metal!
Now that sounds like good news to me!
Thanks Rosanna, let's see what happens!!
JulietP and Miss Ro just keep getting better with their knowledge of the video of the week. Good stuff about folks in this video and I look forward to seeing more work with Manou and Sina!! (And as Sina has so eloquently said, "but no metal") :)
@@sina-drums That we will! And all the best at ArtEZ! It's about time they released you from that basement for some real life student life! ;-) OOF! I just saw the missing "s" that changes the word from simply to imply in my Sina question. No point in trying to fix it.
Thank you, Juliet P. and Rosanna, for your great report. Without your information there would be a great lack of knowledge for me about the background of the presented musicians or, as in other texts, about the background of the music. Always great. I love it. I wish you a nice weekend. Stay safe and healthy.
thank you for another great and informative write up
People, do yourselves a favor and put some good headphones on for this! It's a real treat!
Headphones is the only thing to wear listening to Sina any time.
I can hear bunch of audio clipping though on many parts (clipping not done right).
True dat!
This is by far the best ever cover of pain killer ive ever heard ! Sina is , obviously awesome as you'd expect, but the giurarist is fantastic and the singer !! Wow ,just wow
That was AMAZINGLY good!!!!!
This was an EXCELLENT cover!!!! Girish has some pipes!!!! Sina, you are PHENOMENAL on drums, as always. Manou is great doing both rhythm, and lead guitar. I wonder why Tony was not on camera. Anyway, GREAT JOB ALL AROUND!!!! ROCK!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was just blown off of my office chair. My gawd... indeed the best cover of Painkiller I ever witnessed. Thanks Sina, Girish and Manou!!! You guys rock!!!
Brilliant and deadly combination and thanks to Sina for giving opportunity to these deserving young Indians!Bravo!
Endliich mal wieder was wo der Hammer fliegt....die letzten 12 Monate waren echt zum abgewöhnen....der Junge an der Axt macht mal keine Gefangenen...GEIL....Gesang super...Hut ab für dieses Cover.TOP.
Wow! Great job by everyone! But that kick drum though!! 👍👍
Oh my gosh! That friggin ROCKED!! That took tremendous skill to play that song. Much, much respect! That blew me away!
Wow Sina!! The feet are again center stage as much a blur as your hands going thru all of various drum rolls to this Judas Priest Icon. You're starting to make your own signature touch with these covers Sina! Manou was just as awesome on the guitar, he's very impressive. Although not my normal taste in music, Girish combined with Manou's and Your Musicianship, made a terrific cover of Painkiller!
Judas Priest AWESOME JOB!!! Wish Andrei was Playing!!!
The Priest is *not* a thrash nor speed metal band, just pure blend Heavy Metal. And Painkiller is likely to be in the top 10 metal songs of all time. Been waiting for this cover for a long time, and rightly so, for you really nailed it.
Why so many people feel compelled to point out that it's "not their kind of music" as soon as they see the word "metal" is beyond me but never mind. Great job !
Many musicians are afraid to like meta as they feel it diminishes their skill level. Clearly they don't comprehend just how much skill, technique and work goes into composing real hard rock and metal. \m/ \m/
Yeah man. It just makes me think there's something stupid about you if you completely shut out an entire genre because you're afraid of the connotations associated with it. If it sounds good in your ears, then you're allowed to like it. Metal is real music, as is every derivative thereof. My whole childhood I was afraid to put on the music I liked in front of people for fear of someone saying "oh turn off this shouty shit!" or whatever but now I'm like nah fuck you. How about we turn off this radio friendly corporate bullshit and listen to some CHOONZ.
I’ve followed JP for over 40 years, and love the variety of their style. From the beautiful slow numbers like Angel and Before The Dawn to the crazy stuff like this track. This trio of musicians does a fantastic job of covering this piece. Brilliant!
WHO ARE THESE GUYS???
THE BEST cover I've heard so far... Now that's impressive
I'm 50 and Judas Priest is my favorite metal band..Had the patches on my jean jackets in middle school. The whole metal head thing (mullet kid)..
This cover is absolutely stunning..I did not think pulling off the Rob Halford part was possible but DAMNNNNNN IT IS AMAZING.🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Sina as usual is simply astounding.
Excellent ! She is a DRUMKILLER 😍
When there's a track to play over, some people can get away with it ,this shows you clearly there is no background track, and all is played brilliantly. Cheers Sina and all ! Awesome ! NOT A EASY SONG TO PLAY PERIOD !
Hallo Sina,
Hello Sina,
again you have chosen a great masterpiece. As an absolute layman on the drums, I can only say absolute respect. With your great camera settings you can see what for
there must be work and strength behind it. The coordination with both feet and hands at this speed, just top notch.
You always manage to refine great songs by playing the drums. Have fun in Arnhem and of course good luck there too.
Brauchst den text nicht ins englische übersetzen. Sie ist doch deutsche.
@@MB2340
oh my god sina this why you are one of the best drummer now around now you want to step out of your comfort zone and this is what happens like you not my type of music but this is awesome just a master piece of greatness one question who up set you because you beat the hell out of your drums and please more with Manou Rao he is a gem.
Step out of her comfort zone? Listen to her band one day, this is right in her wheelhouse.
Hot dang. You folks sure can kick it up 10 or 11 notches. These two guys are awesome musicians with great talents. Only the best when Sina makes music for us. And there is something about that drummer. Comfort zone or not, she can play it all. Looking forward to see what comes from this super group. My foot is still tapping.
That was truly epic. Having the guts to take on the Metal God Rob Halford is seriously impressive. Kudos to Girish Pradhan for even trying, but with that kind of talent in the band.... Damn. I'm impressed.
Ez fantasztikus lett!!!!Aggódtál ,hogy az emberek hogyan reagálnak ,itt a válasz a megtekintések száma.✌✌✌😍😍😍
I wasn't familiar with Manou (he's incredible!), but I have watched a lot of Girish's videos with his band and I was pretty excited to see you do a collab with him. He is one of the best voices in rock these days! Well done by all!
Volles Brett - gerne öfter ❣❣❣ 👍👌🤘
AMAZING! Kudos all around! Did Justice to one of the best Metal Songs of ALL TIME. Amazing guys!
One of the best Judas Priest Metal classics - Sina you found 2 of India's finest musicians - absolute mindblowing performance - Don't miss this one Sina fans the speed will make your head spin and your brains melt!❤🔥🥁🎤🎹🎸❤
Standing ovation that was awesome
Shhhhhh quiet, did you all hear that ?
That's Sina's drums begging for mercy.
Simply amazing musicians.
Epic performances by all.
Always the best collaborations.
The Heavy Metal Priest himself
Rob Halfer is pumping his fist in approval.
Long live Judas & the new queen
of Rock / Metal Sina.

That. Was. EPIC!! Been watching and listening for years and I'm always impressed but, holy cow, you all killed this Priest classic. Outstanding job, all of you!
Awesome. Love from India❤️
Jaaaaaaaaaa!! Der September ist jetzt schon toll.
Well Damn ! Another collaboration that just hits it out of the park. Manou just shredding the guitar licks and Girish has a voice that was meant for Heavy Metal and then Sina just destroying it on the drums as usual. All these talented artists putting these song together for out enjoyment....Just amazing THANK YOU
I admit this is my my genre of music. But, Metal played such a big role in music and still does. As a drummer( retired) I know how hard it is to to use double pedals. Your legs had to cry out for rest! I have watched the cover 4 times. You had to mentally and physically prepare for the cover. You do such an excellent job no matter what you challenge to do. Simply: You’re terrific!!!
GUYS YOU NAILED IT! I never watched or heard anything similar to the original Painkiller, not even on the concert of Judas Priest in 2018 hahahaha. I'm shocked!
Girish Pradhan and Manou Rao. Remember those names everybody. Wow. Amazing job, guys.
Woooow!!!! I requested this about three or four years ago, and here it is! I was trying to think of the words that I would write when watching this, but all I can say is awesome! Excellent musicianship all around. I've heard many singers try to do this song, and this guy, I almost want to say, did a better job than Rob Halford, and Rob is my most favorite metal singer. But, the guitar and the drums were beyond excellent. The best cover I've heard of this song, and the best cover from Sina. Great stuff!
Waaaaaaaaaaahnsinnn !!!!
My enthusiasm has no limits. The right three came together.
That bloodcurdling voice - wow - and screeching guitar until the eardrums flutter.
Yes, and then of course the double bass number - terrific.
That may be outside of your comfort zone, but it's absolutely in the "I can easily do it" zone.
Did I mention that I love double bass hammering? (I think so). Ian's intro on Fireball .....
@@salbuda6957 I don't really know what is meant by the question. I'm afraid my English isn't good enough for linguistic subtleties.
@@salbuda6957 Keine Ursache.
Good Night, sleep well und schönes Wochenende.
Ach ja - und keep on rocking.
This was great! I never expected this song to be covered. Awesome job! Congratulations on your new studio Sina! Lots of luck!
What an explosion, Sina and the crew! Wonderful, adamant, powerful and steady drumming.Grrr! Cheers to everyone!!
Retired Audio Engineer here. 90+ International Acts (including Judas Priest) and hundreds of others under my belt. Gotta say that this is one of the best 'Painkiller' covers I've seen/heard. Sina, my gosh, Scott Travis would be proud of those fast feet of yours. Outstanding work on the guitars and the vocals were spot on. These days, Rob could never hit those notes but even in his prime I'll bet you could give him a run for his money. Did you guys do this without a bass player? Anyway, Kudos to you all. Best spent 7 minutes of my day. Thanks!
Thank you, Sir! The bass player preferred to stay unseen ;)
@@sina-drums I'm flattered that you replied and even answered my question. I know you are busy. Second, after re-listening to this, I do hear the bass and 'get' why he doesn't want to be seen. I've worked with many 'studio musicians' that are never seen and most never get listed credits for their work. Unsung heroes that just love what they do? Yep. I'm one of them. Very little of my Touring 'work' (12 years on the road) has my name attached to it. Usually the studio Engineer that remixes the live recordings into a usable format for publishing gets the credit. Weird considering that if I didn't do a good job live, NO amount of studio magic can turn crap into gold. I'm OK with that. However, I do have 9 framed Gold Albums on my wall from touring with the likes of Black Sabbath, Rush, Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, Heart, Dio, Rossington Collins Band and 2 others that escape me at the moment. Easy to see from my partial resume here that I'm a lot older than you now but we were all young once and I believe that music is not only timeless but ageless as well. Lastly, loved your cover of ZZ Top's La Grange. The drum part is a lot harder than it sounds. Don't get me started on what you were doing in the Tool 46 and 2 cover. I've been watching you for several years and have enjoyed your progression. Keep it up. Thanks for making all of this available for the rest of us to enjoy.
the bass player in the background was sina's dad. he produces all of these videos. he is a great musician too.
@@wartberg111 Thanks for the additional information. I had no idea what Sina's last name was so when I saw the credits, I never put it all together. Her Dad did a great job.

Wow, Manou looking forward to your collaboration with Sina and also your RUclips venture !!! God bless !!!
Nice guitar player! Nice vocals! Fabulous drummer!!!!!
Wow! This is the best cover of painkiller that I've ever heard! The drums and guitar were awesome and maaan that dude has a set of pipes! Please do some more metal :)

Amazing. I'm used to Sina's gift for nailing it every time, but the exquisite rendition of Manou surprised me; and..Hell! the vocals of Girish are IMPRESSIVE. Kudos, guys! I really enjoyed this.😁
Absolutely Ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!!!! The kid on guitar is out of control !!!!!!! Sina your drum fills are smokin !!!!!! I never get tired of watching you play !!! l learn something from you each time to help get better at playing !!!!!! WOW !!!!! Great job !!!!!!!!!!!!
Drei astreine Könner liefern hier ein grandioses Hammerbrett von Judas Priest!!!! Mit Riesemabstand das geilste "Painkiller"-Cover, das ich je hörte!!!
I am absolutely stunned by this performance. It is so difficult to duplicate/replicate the original performance by Judas Priest. My sincerest compliments!
Wow! Just ... Wow! Made me smile. :) Thank you!
Wow!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Ich war schon von den ersten 15 Sekunden voll begeistert! Bravo Sina 🌹 😘
Metal is so fun to play!
No Doubt Girish Pradhan is a Well known, Talented and Versatile Singer.Never get enough of his Vocals. And way Beautiful work by each and everyone...
Support from India ( Darjeeling).
Sina knows no bounds in her drumming talents, 😊😊😊
Very good, rock on
One word.. AMAZING!
Wow!!! What a performance! Magic.
I grew up with Judas Priest - Dankeschön!
Holy cow that was unbelievable. Thanx again Sina. You've left me breathless. Sheesh!!!
Loved it, just loved it! And probably will love next week's video too, - as you say, it's all about diversity!
I'm Speechless Sina. You are truly amazing!
Thank you so so much, Sina, and congratulations to all of you. It's just breathtaking ! Following Sina for years, it's the certainty of regularly discovering marvels did very professionally and, in fact, this cover is absolutely exceptional at any point of view. I have often imagined what could be the result of the association between talents, so complementary and so exceptional like Sina and Manou's, and my wish is granted! It's a Masterpiece, an eternal delight from now on!
In addition, the singer Guirish, whom I didn't know yet, joins Sina and Manou here in their great concern for perfection. Tony J. Das is a great guitarist too, and he plays bass here.
What a great pleasure to see that this hight level of talent can also reveal individuals so pleasant, so generous, so courteous and so altruistic ...
A grateful thank you.
Thanks Alain for being persistent ;)
@@michaeldoering1113 You're welcome, it's my pleasure! You'll greet Sina for me ...
Thank you for making this possible, Alain!!
@@sina-drums You're welcome, Sina! Thank you so much for this exceptional cover!
Great job by all... the guy singing does a great job. Even sounds a little like Rob Halford. Guitarist does a great job. And Sina is a beast on the drums as always. Thanks for the treat.
Was für ein Feuerwerk.
Greetz from Dortmund :)
Sina, The first time we saw you sweat was during JULY MORNING, by Uriah Heep. This video is the first time we see your headphones nearly fly off! Shows how much hard work goes into each video. Your effort is much appreciated by your legions of loyal fans!
Hallo Sina! You say that you don´t like so much of metal, but you and your palls did it very well and it seens to me that you had a lot of fun playing, admit it! It was evident at the 4:50 minutes of the video! One note: Girish and Manou are two great surprises! Cheers from Brasil young lady! Auf wiedersehen!
WOW! Superb performance everyone and Sina footwork
Damn how easy the solo seems to be. Great job guys, truly one of the best covers of this song I've seen!
La verdad no me cano de mirar tus videos. Cuanto talento!!!!!! Besos!!
Sina, you have earned your drumming Badge!
You are a fully-fledged Master-ess of drumming!
Amazin'
I'll admit that Judas Priest isn't my cup of tea. But as Duke Ellington said... "If it sounds good, it is good." And this video sounded good. That was a heck of drum workout for you, Sina. Really fun to watch your performance. It took me a while to realize your feet were driving two separate beaters. Kudos to the everyone else in the band especially the young guitarist. Great job everyone!
Saw for the first time in 1976, hard core ever since, total times live 23, love em,
AMAZING!!!!
Magnificent!
Danke für Deine Einstimmung ins Wochenende! Viel Spass wünsch ich Dir!
I love when Sina goes full heavy metal.
I really like and appreciate how you bring musicians together from around the world to perform these song.
Sina,
Thank you for such doing such a great job on such a difficult song to both master and cover. Girish and Manou are amazing guys and I have a huge respect for them.
Since you released this video I have since had a chance to see a lot of their videos on their channel. Girish is a powerhouse vocalist and Manou is a beast on guitar. Their original music is a harkening back to the true 80s to mid 90s style of metal that has hugely prevalent here in the U.S. for a long time before hip hop and corny digitized vocal pop took over the industry here.
Sina, you say you're not big into the thrash/speed metal genre. That's it's not your cup of tea (so to say) but I feel that this genre is where you excel the most. Heavy metal is something I feel best suits you.
I do love that you like sticking to your classic rock and jazz fusion, which you are more than amazing and ultra great at but you are a natural and fit in more in the metal genre.
Truthfully I love everything you do and it brings me joy to see you performing what makes you happiest. By all means don't ever change anything that you feel identifies you. Keep doing great things of course. But don't give up on or discount the metal genre. I feel you are excellent for this.
No matter what you do, I appreciate and love everything and am always delighted with all of your projects. Stay safe and be well. 😎👍
@@salbuda6957 🙋♂️Thanks so much. 😎👍 Sina and Gäs are awesome. I saw some of the videos on your channel. I think the whole band is great. 🧡 I always wondered what Sina was like live. I'm thankful to you for the link. I hope she'll post the band's upcoming November performance here on RUclips. It would be nice for Sina and Gäs's live show to be seen by their subscribers.
Outstanding guitar work. Your drums and his guitar sounded outstanding together. Along with the powerful vocals, it was a work of art!
Sina, you assembled a group with skills that complement yours nicely! You all were worthy of lightning strikes! Painkiller might be my favorite metal song.
WOW.....you all nailed it. Sina, awesome job with the tempo changes with your hands while keeping the bass drums the same. Manou looks so relaxed! Girish, what a set of pipes!
Wow! Sina! This was excellent! I am not a fan of this band but your drums are fantastic! The speed! The sound Pirish did awesome vocals! Manou is excellent in his guitar work! Beautiful job! Love. Not Judas Priest but YOUR version! Thank you for going out of your comfort zone! 💖💖💖
