I just found these posts and I LOVE 'em. I live in Western NY State (Buffalo) and have never made it farther west than Vegas. Always wanted to see what driving out in sunny California was all about. You take me there... just put on some smooth jazz music from my era (Alpert, Jarreau, Benson) and I'm in a good place. Thanks much !!! Keep 'em coming...I'll pay for the gas...
For me I don't think there is a better feeling than when me and my family are driving to a large city and you finally start seeing some of the skyscrapers in the distance. I have always wanted to see Las Angeles. It looks amazing. Watching this video gave me that same feeling again.
Bravoooo !!! Thank you for this video, really enjoyed it. It's been almost a year since I've driven from SD to LA when I came to USA for a holiday. Busy, not the easiest and most relaxing drive either, but I enjoyed it for some reason. Was great to be reminded of the trip. Again, thanks.
I've been out to California a number of times and my favorite is San Diego where I went to MCRD for Marine Basic training in 1971 but I have been back a few times on business and I love the place that's for the interesting video experience.
I enjoy your videos of california especially when I was living in florida. they're nice to watch when i'm homesick. but now that I moved back to san diego, I watch your florida videos because i'm homesick of my 2nd home haha :) also, because of the traffic on the 5 during weekends I now take the 15 when heading up to OC/LA, even though it's a larger distance to drive you get to where you need to go faster.
WOW! You kept so much distance with the cars in front of you and you NEVER got cut off! That's so rare here on the east coast.. I'm actually really astonished by that lol
Yes, there is a lot of traffic on I-5, and it's even worse in places on weekends than it is during the week. For example, SB I-5 was backed up 26 MILES on Saturday, from San Onofre (MP 72) to south Carlsbad (MP 46). And on NB I-5 you get what I call "checkpoint delays", which can sometimes back up as much as 5-7 miles. In fact, the Border Patrol often has to close the checkpoint just ease traffic on that part of I-5, and the same is sometimes true on NB I-5 at the Rainbow/Temecula checkpoint.
Wow that's a hectic Saturday midday commute. I imagine the traffic is so bad because everyone is taking the kids to play soccer. I was in CA Oct11 and drove LA -SD and return, then up PCH to SF and never saw traffic that bad.
Thank you for posting this, I'm planning to drive uo to LA in the summer and I always gonna get the feeling that I'm gonna crash due to the mass traffic and getting lost
Cardinal sin when driving in LA. Never drive in the "fast" lane or carpools when traffic is heavy. They tend to slow down the quickest and more abruptly leading to rear enders. Stay to the right!
I travel interstate 5 between San Diego and Los Angeles and traffic can be slow near the interstate 5/avenida pico interchange. The interstate 5 and California state route 241 interchange was gonna be right behind San Clemente high school but since California state route 241 ends in rancho Santa Margarita San Clemente high school isn’t the site of the I-5/241 toll road interchange.
Was paying the most attention to the street lights. I saw: • GE M400A3 (Full Cutoff and Semi-cutoff) • Leotek Green Cobra • GE M400A1 • GE M400A2 (Full Cutoff) • Leotek E-Cobra • Philips SRP-180 • American Electric Lighting Model 325 (Full Cutoff)
I've lived in San Diego for 22 years and have only made this drive a handful of times. L.A. traffic sucks. San Diego traffic sucks but it isn't as bad. LOL. I usually take the 15 to the 60 to get to Diamond Bar when I visit family.
+getquaked h Yes most of the time, the flow of traffic there is terrible and awful. The I-5 is the busiest. And the California drivers cut people off most often. Go to California and just drive from Carlsbad to Tustin and it will take you about a hour and a half.
im mexican from guadalajara city and i went a few months ago to the both cities the two were so beatiful and cool but in my opinion san diego looks better los angeles look some old
Traffic on LA freeways is so bad that people will damn near push you off into the other lane just get in their desired lane. I experienced this from just a few visits. Having said that, on rare occasion you will encounter the courteous drivers also. I lived in Phoenix for 10 years and every time I went to La I'd tell myself that I can never bitch about Phoenix traffic again.
2:06 San Diego LDS Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the right side of the freeway, the tall white twin tower futuristic looking Church building with Angel Moroni statue on top right spire!
As someone who just moved to DC from Los Angeles, I can attest that drivers in DC are much more aggressive. Angelenos have way better road manners and the only degree of aggression they demonstrate is on the freeways, and even then, I never saw the assholishness there that I witness here constantly. Street driving in DC is definitely more difficult than Los Angeles too
As soon as you cross the OC county line from San Diego, the drivers are aggressive AF. I'll be in the right lane going 80 and I'm still being tailgated.

Barbie, I stumbled upon your channel by accident and I love it. Love the road trips. I am a road trip guy so this is rad.
For me I don't think there is a better feeling than when me and my family are driving to a large city and you finally start seeing some of the skyscrapers in the distance. I have always wanted to see Las Angeles. It looks amazing. Watching this video gave me that same feeling again.

Bravoooo !!!

That's my home town of San Diego;thank you again, peace: ))
Thanks for posting this! I'll be visiting the area from Vermont and making this exact trip, so it's cool see what it would look like.
I've been out to California a number of times and my favorite is San Diego where I went to MCRD for Marine Basic training in 1971 but I have been back a few times on business and I love the place that's for the interesting video experience.

Lol right when you cross the LA county line it becomes extreme traffic.
Because there's only 3 lanes
ooooo3 I’m from Orange County, it’s the same
I’m from Sac I been to Disneyland couple years ago
Four lines for no carpool and one more line for carpool sometimes.
Los Angeles County is most populated
WOW! You kept so much distance with the cars in front of you and you NEVER got cut off! That's so rare here on the east coast.. I'm actually really astonished by that lol
I legit was thinking the same thing! Hahaha
lovin f30 she did didnt she? she kept the distance pretty straight
lovin f30 its also rare here on the west coast. I live in Southern California as a matter of fact
Ikr XD
lovin f30 seriously I hate being cut off
Love the music !
Wow never saw that much traffic ever in San Diego to be honest with you. That interstate looked super busy with all of that traffic I could imagine.
fun fact: I-5 from Mexico border to LA was originally a part of US-101. The road was so good that it was given a blue and red shield.
Wow I drove by you in the carpool lane in Del Mar lol
Wow! There was a lot of traffic that day you drove this stretch of the 5 freeway from San Diego to Los Angeles.

I am so jealous!! Its below zero here in Michigan. Looks warm even if there is tons of traffic.
It was 84 out there that day. That's why I lived in Vegas for 24 years.I used to live in Wisconsin.
Shadow Tay I'm so jealous of YOUR weather.
Lol just so you know this isn't even rush hour traffic it gets worse >.
Shadow Tay I think u are actually lucky here in California is hot as hell a daily day can reach up to 108° degrees in summer
If you come to California most of the cities are just plain traffic
I miss living in LA, but I don't miss that traffic! LOL Thanx for the video.
Awesome video awesome music I'm going to do this journey with this music
Bring your patience. I miss driving that stretch. It can be intense at times...but look at the beauty of southern CA!
Wow that's a hectic Saturday midday commute. I imagine the traffic is so bad because everyone is taking the kids to play soccer. I was in CA Oct11 and drove LA -SD and return, then up PCH to SF and never saw traffic that bad.
Traveling and driving are completely useful
Thank you for posting this, I'm planning to drive uo to LA in the summer and I always gonna get the feeling that I'm gonna crash due to the mass traffic and getting lost
Looks like the most heavily travelled interstate in the world!
Which is why i take amtrak pacific surfliner between La and San Diego
Cardinal sin when driving in LA. Never drive in the "fast" lane or carpools when traffic is heavy. They tend to slow down the quickest and more abruptly leading to rear enders. Stay to the right!
Yes I've noticed this in this Chicagoland area! Everyone is so eager to go so fast so quickly and then stopping on brakes
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

A drive I am extremely familiar with
Barbiepoledancer I love this video, what's the name of the last song.
I just love this music.
I-5 in Orange County sure is wide with HOV lanes. I-5 in L.A. County is like a '50s style Interstate in most of it in the south of the county.
Loved this thanks so much
You may not watch the HD 2015 video. It shows the American Crime billboard instead of Powerball & Mega Millions billboard.
Does watching these videos count as traveling back in time?
What is the name of the song used in the first 15 minutes of the road video?
+Aaron Wilburn Love Machine by Supermax. The Long Version
+Barbiepoledancer Love that song!! =)
Barbiepoledancer.
Aaron Wilburn It's awesome! I love it!
Done that drive yesterday only getting on the 405 Freeway to go home from visiting family in Carlsbad
At any point in this drive was there a checkpoint?
Was paying the most attention to the street lights. I saw:
• GE M400A3 (Full Cutoff and Semi-cutoff)
• Leotek Green Cobra

Dat Traffic...Is it always that busy in California? I live in a small town in Wisconsin sooo....
Israel Cuandon No...I live extremely close to Madison, not in the middle of no where :P
it's like this every second
Lol 😂 but yes everyday
California has more people than my country of Canada and Los Angeles area has nearly 15 million people so yeah, expect it to be the busy often
and also California is a state while Canada is a Country lol
I've lived in San Diego for 22 years and have only made this drive a handful of times. L.A. traffic sucks. San Diego traffic sucks but it isn't as bad. LOL. I usually take the 15 to the 60 to get to Diamond Bar when I visit family.

Huh, seems like LA drivers are a bit more aggressive than the ones we have here in DC

Ya there may be traffic in downtown LA
As soon as you cross the OC county line from San Diego, the drivers are aggressive AF. I'll be in the right lane going 80 and I'm still being tailgated.
