I so appreciate the thoughtfulness and integrity he brings to his work. The sound mixing on this film was great. I never struggled to hear a lyric or line of dialogue, which I can't always say about other films. I felt like I was hearing exactly what I needed to hear--dialogue, music, sound effects--when I needed to hear it.
The overarching theme that I see from every interview about Wicked is that no one, no one, let their ego get in the way. The amount of teamwork it took to put this film together the way that they did is incredible. Every single department, every actor, dancer.... everyone... was able to say "this isn't about just me, it is about something so much bigger" and in return that gave all of us audience members the gift of being transported in heart, body, and soul while watching this movie.
Amazing and necessary interview of one of the expert contributors to this musical masterpiece! Thank you Mr. Hayes for all your incredible work and sensitivity to your craft. Wicked is definitely the timeless Wizard of Oz for future generations to enjoy! Bravo!

I. I’m so sorry. I usually am not a hater, and I really appreciate this interview. But the sound mixing in this movie, for having a $100 million dollar budget, was not nearly as good as it should’ve been. I immediately clocked the stock horns from logic pro x at the beginning of the movie, and anytime a character sang live or spoke over the music, you can tell it was recorded separately from the music. It just. Was not good. I really REALLY hope they fix this for the second movie😭
