Believe it or not, some people like to have fun at work. I don't talk to retail customers that way, although many of them might deserve it. Anyone who deals with customers on the phone will understand. And.... some customers will go out of their way to be polite and patient. Those customers get the best treatment and probably a discount. Until you have been in these shoes, don't bother making a bad comment.
I remember catalog’s and microfiche. When I came over to the retail aftermarket. They still had catalogs in the stores. For some reason so many employees wouldn’t go into them.
I worked same thing but outboard & boat parts, if you saw who buys & maintains their own boats you wouldn’t go out on the water, replacing Quint in Jaws would be the outcome.
Quality control should done a phone test. Barney fails and the next day they come in and fire his old ass. Not to mention this tool is a fire hazard to boot. District manager comes in and bounces his ass out the door.
While the video itself is quite dated, the message is totally relevant in today's market. Bad telephone etiquette will certainly have a negative impact on business.
