      He plays with a full band that's mic'd up, but this is at the end of the set. He goes completely unplugged and sings loud enough for the venue to hear the guitar and vocals raw.

    I finally saw Staind live last summer with Korn. It was a little underwhelming because he just stood there and walked around during his screaming lines. The lead singer of Korn was recovering from COVID and he moved around more than Aaron Lewis did.

    He was probably going for a very specific “pure acoustic” aesthetic (hence not using his mic or amplifier), but lacked the basic people skills needed to achieve what he actually wanted, so he just acted like a prick toward his own fans instead, hoping they’d give him what he wants. He’s like a teacher yelling at children during lunch…

      @@kyleriopel Real (professional) musicians have a production company that provides sound & lights so the guy in the back row can hear as well as the guy in the front row. If he wants a campfire atmosphere play the campground circuit. Real musicians don't throw a "2 year old who didn't get the toy at Walmart" fit and walk off stage. Did he refund the money for the "real" fans that paid to get in that weren't being loud, because they didn't get the full show? Didn't think so.

Put your damn in ear monitors in. Stand in front of the mic. Plug your guitar in so the FOH can make it loud enough to hear and play your damn song.

      People react to drums and rocking out. He comes into a venue to play acoustic guitar and ofc people are gonna get bored. He is nothing to look at, fat, old, plays some semi country-semi acoustic rock boring music, its not even a great singer and ofc people are gonna lose interest.
      I mean if he is dumb enough not to understand that acoustic guitar solo gig is a gig that could be done only by few people on the planet in venues without the audience ever skipping a beat -than it is his fault.

    I remember when I went to the Nile in Phoenix around '97. First time I got exposed to Staind before they were famous. They just came out with Tormented and it was the heaviest most chaotic performance I saw at 13. Saw them again at Austin Music Hall in '02. Huge mosh pits, people screaming and fighting..etc Now almost 20 years later and Aaron Lewis has turned into an angry librarian

    Hes playing an acoustic set and they probably should have yes given him an electric acoustic guitar.
    I mean yes people do talk at concerts but those people were obnoxious. I mean even people in the stands have a right to be pissed if someone below couldnt even hear the person playing.     If he wants to be taken seriously, and actually perform to quieter audiences, he cannot continue talking to audience that way or they'll keep pestering him even more. Also, much smaller acoustic venues would be far more suitable for this style of music, especially when playing without mic. His reputation doesn't help, either.

    Both sides were wrong, but Aaron was acting like a baby about it. If you're 'that good' then let it roll off your back. But the audience has their time to show their appreciation for the musician, BUT, they can and have taken that too damn far many times were it's no longer appreciation but just plain stupid rudeness to the musician(s). It goes both ways on this one.

      Call me crazy. But I see a microphone right behind him. In fact he talked into it at one point. Many, many years ago Leo Fender created the guitar amplifier. He's a touring musician. I can only assume he owns one or can afford to buy one. Don't let this ass hat fool you. This "moment" was created by him, so he could act like a toddler at Wal-Mart who's parents told him to put the toy back. He WANTED to throw a fit and walk off stage.

    Both parties are in the wrong here. I went to see him play in Detroit and the audience was the same way, lots of drunk morons hooting and hollering and he had to yell at the audience a few times to be quiet. However, Aaron is a professional musician and in my opinion should have just played and been done with it. He's being a little princess here

      That would never happen unless he negotiated down what percentage of ticket sales he would receive. There are people like me that think he's very talented it would love to hear him play a proper set without a bunch of drunken idiots yelling the entire time but can also acknowledge when he's being a princess. So no, that actually doesn't solve any problem whatsoever

Can you ever imagine somebody like Paul McCartney acting like this? Somebody much more important with just as much to say. Aaron thinks he's more special than he is. That's the sad part.
      I'm not normally one to judge artists abilities or songs. I hate it when people use the word "sucks" to describe something. If it doesn't move you? Don't listen to it. But his arrogance and attitude towards people who paid money to come see him (not in a library or nap room at a preschool). So that makes me start judging his music in a different (negative) manner.
      I'm pretty indifferent to him. Staind was ok. Never moved my needle much. I could take it or leave it. But I will NEVER give this guy a penny of my money ever again. Won't purchase a song. stream a song. Won't buy a ticket. He deserves none of my money.
      Which I'm 100% positive he couldn't give 2 shits about.

If I'm not mistaken he straight up said to the audience that he really doesn't need to be there/doing this for them. Don't quote me. However, to me that sounds like I'm good, I have money. I don't need to grace you with my presence. I don't know, that's just how I took it. Then when he did not get the reaction he wanted he just stormed off. The whole thing just left a really bad taste in my mouth. A bad impression if you will.

      It's typically good "manners" to fulfill your contractual obligation and complete a performance, regardless of how quiet the crowd is. This dork has been in a band for 20+ years, he should have been able to handle people talking through an acoustic set. He's just upset he's not selling out basketball arenas anymore.

    Relax. Aaron. Breath. Inhale. and Slow Exhale. He just needs to play and enjoy his time on stage. You never know when your last performance will be. (RIP Taylor Hawkins) Plus, isnt he the guy with the mic thats connected to a PA? Maybe buy some "in-ears" so you dont hear the crowd so easily? Unless this shit is part of his act, Id be concerned as a booking agent or management. Normal music artists that are happy with their lives dont freak out like this.
