There was a guy who had toured with Arlo Guthrie earlier in his career when I met him he was playing in clubs in San Diego. An amazing musician who was quite popular. One night he had the perfect response to a whole table full of jerks. He was just starting a set when they started on him. Without missing a beat, he stood up, walked to the front of the stage, put his guitar up to the microphone, played the first nine notes of “Dueling Banjos,” and looked expectantly at the table. Brought the house down and sent the Deliverance Boy and his party of four slinking out the front door.

And the next thing you know, it's a physical assault. Luckily, most Metal guys are just happy to see women there enjoying the music. It's the very few assholes who make it sometimes a horrible situation.

The album “14:59” went Triple Platinum, and their following album “Sugar Ray” went Platinum.
Now, Sugar Ray isn’t a band that could credibly produce a greatest hits album(though I’m sure they have), have sustainable touring power of their body of work, and Im not personally a listener..but they most definitely were not one hit wonders in an era rife with textbook examples or one hit wonders. Sugar Ray was a big deal for about 5 years after their initial mega hit.

I watched Bruce Dicksinson smack a guy upside the head with his microphone during his solo tour of the US in 1997. It was in a small club called Jaxx in Northern Virginia. The guy kept reaching up and touching the mic so Bruce whacked him with it. It was hilarious!
