      it really brings the abortion conversation into perspective, doesnt it? If a baby can be born and survive after 22 weeks, why have elective, none medical abortions that kill the baby.

    My stretch marks stopped progressing once I started lubricating my belly. Before that I had felt tearing sensations and would look and find that I had a new stretch mark on the same spot! I wish I had started moisturizing earlier, I had just been told it was genetic and there was nothing I could do about it, so I didn’t take action. On the other hand I’m so happy to be a mamma now that I don’t mind the part of my belly that is marked. :)

I started showing really early so I look like I’m 6 months pregnant right now 😂 (OB said it’s because my torso is so short & Im so short in general so there’s nowhere for everything to go but OUT). I did the NIPT testing at 11 weeks, so we’ve known for a while that it’s a baby boy and Im SO excited to meet him. Please explore all your options as prenatal care is so important for mom and baby. Medicaid if in US, are you sure insurance won’t cover? In US at least they have to cover certain pregnancy things as preventative care. Call different offices and explain and see if they do cash pay discounts.

      Hi lenzy! Congrats on your pregnancy--so exciting and nerve-wracking being a first time mom. As for the SI joint pain--it can pop up at any time. It is different for every woman. The pregnancy hormones affect everyone's joints a little differently! Definitely find yourself a support belt and start stretching and doing exercises every day. It seems counterintuitive but it REALLY helps. There are lots of free videos on youtube--ruclips.net/video/NdO4CWYnp14/видео.html so find a few you like and keep moving. (And find someone to give you a good back rub!)

    I keep seeing that if you gain too much too fast to notify you’re doctor. What does that mean? I do feel like I’ve gained too much. I started at 116 (5’4”) and I’m now almost 18 weeks and 127. This is the heaviest I’ve been and I’m trying to stay active and eat healthy but can’t manage the weight gain at all. Any advice would be great!

    What do you think about sleeping on the left side? Do you recommend that or is that just a myth? I have heard that its good for the blood circulation for the baby. I have tried to sleep on my left side but its much comfortable to sleep on my right most of the times or my back.

      I'm in Germany - I've read all over the place that I'm not supposed to sleep on my back after the 20th week, etc, so I asked my OB/GYN. He smiled, said that my body will tell me when it's uncomfortable, and recommended I "stay off mommy blogs." HA!

      New research suggests sleeping on the side (left or right) after 28 weeks reduces the risk of still birth.

      Currently the recommendation in australian hospitals

      Yeah my gyn also said it is okay to sleep on the back, unless you have issues like pre-eclampsia or high blood pressure that might complicate the blood flow. Otherwise, sleep whatever position is comfy 😄. But that's my gyn, you will need to consult your own gyn as per your own condition of the pregnancy.

    QUESTION I have heard that you cannot use antibacterial soap while pregnant and I wanted to know if this is true?
    For example a month before I found out I was pregnant I got a piercing so I’ve been cleaning it with antibacterial soap and I recently just found now that you can’t use it I wanted to know if that’s true or not and if I should stop??

    • @TheDoctorsBjorkman
      @TheDoctorsBjorkman  3 года назад

      There is a lot of emerging data on endocrine disrupting chemicals--and the big offenders in antibacterial soaps are triclosan, triclocarban and butyl paraben. Do not to panic!! It's impossible to completely avoid exposure to these chemicals--a good goal is to reduce avoidable exposures. So just take a quick look at labels before you buy soaps and cosmetics, instead steering toward natural products if you want to be as cautious as possible. In good news, the Food and Drug Administration are beginning to re-examine the safety of the compounds, and in light of this, some manufacturers, including Johnson & Johnson, are voluntarily phasing out the use of the antimicrobials.

      I've read that exfoliating/body scrub helps a lot before applying oils and butters, because it gets rid of dead skin cells that prevent oils to get deeper into the skin.. Have you tried it? I made a brown cane sugar - olive oil body scrub and I'm hoping it will work 😅

    • @TheDoctorsBjorkman
      @TheDoctorsBjorkman  3 года назад +6

      Oh I feel you and wish there was a magic potion--but there just isn't. Up to 90% of women get stretch marks, so you are NOT alone. Whether or not you get them is largely genetic, so you could ask your mom or your sister how it was for them. Often they fade after pregnancy, and there are more options to treat them once baby is out. BUT. Remember, you are GROWING A HUMAN and you earned those stripes. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Your body is AMAZING.

    • @romulusthemainecoon3047
      @romulusthemainecoon3047 3 года назад +2

      Just see it as self-care, and not actually preventative. Unfortunately stretch marks are genetic! Exfoliate (Dove Rice Milk and Shea Body Scrub is GREAT) and moisturize, that's all you can really do.

    Moms please keep yur weight in check and lube your belly, boobs hips and thighs 3xaday with baby oil. This will at least minimize your stretch Mark's if not prevent but you must be consistent. Please just "don't do anything" because "its just genetics" bc you will regret it.
