Florida state Seminoles tomahawk chop. The university of Florida is their main rivals and our tradition is the gator chomp. We love bashing the Seminoles during games. It’s always half the stadium is chomping and the other half is chopping. It’s all in fun. The two schools were established very closely together on the calendar year. We’ve always been rivals. Florida state is more the type of school for engineering or business but not great for much else. The university of Florida has graduated more medical doctors, practical engineering, and every science related field is full of former students. The medical students with the engineering students actually together came up with a ventilator alternative that saved lives during the pandemic. It was never patented as they believed it should be for the public to use. Now every hospital in the country uses it as a step before a real ventilator meaning less people have to use one and it saves lives.

And you're right that college football in the US has much more hype than the World Cup. Don't get me wrong, soccer is growing by leaps and bounds in the US from what I can see. But if you asked most ppl here if they would rather watch "the game" (Ohio State vs Michigan), "the iron bown" (Alabama vs Auburn), "the sunshine showdown" (Florida vs Florida State), and others over the Wold Cup finals, I think the vast majority would pick the college game.

The BIG Ten, the largest, oldest and wealthiest conference in the US, originally all upper Midwest schools, is where many of college football traditions started,, from first marching band to break ranks and form letter on field (Purdue) to the country’s largest stadiums to birthplace of college football overall (more recently added Rutgers University of NJ). In the South the SEC conference is football crazed too. The best games and fandom are in those two conferences, with a few others like Notre Dame. It’s important to remember many if these schools have 30 to 65K 18 to 22 year old students living in walking distance to the games, a huge party beyond game itself

  • @christophermckinney3924

The thing to undestand about college football is thtat it PRE DATES the NFL. And these teams are all over the country (often in rather small towns) rather than in the largest cities. PLus tickets are cheaper and students usually get in free. People with no pro team close by follow their local college team and the athletes are at a pro level. They just don't get paid a salary. College football is like the minor leagues of American Football. But some programs have such storied histories that people genuinely prefer following their college teams to pro teams. I grew up in Tennessee and before the Tennessee Titans NFL team moved there from Houston, we had no professional team in Tennessee so I followed the University of Tennessee. The nearset pro teams were in Atlanta, Cincinnati, St. Louis, and New Orleans. Today there are closer teams like the Titans and the Carolina Panthers in the NFL. But all around the country in small college towns in the autumn on Saturday afternoons the towns swell to two or three times their size and the people flood in to tailgate and then attend the games. Restaurants and hotels make a lot of money. You should check out college football tailgate parties.

    • @Tijuanabill
      @Tijuanabill 3 месяца назад +2

What planet are YOU on, that you think students get free tickets? What are you on about? No, not at all. Student tickets are often an option tossed in with tuition payment, but they are most certainly not free, to any school with a real fanbase. Maybe that is true at Tulane or something, but not P4 universities.

At the end of the first quarter all players, staff, fans, announcers and so many more turn around and wave to the children that are hospitalized watching the game from the 13th floor. The biggest College Football stadiums are also bigger than the biggest NFL stadiums. The first one you see, Michigan, is the largest football stadium in the USA. That goal post weighs around 500 pounds.
College Football is much older than the NFL, so it has rivalries and traditions that are older than the NFL. Our military academies also have College Football teams. Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Army Navy game is a very big deal. Air Force vs Army, or Air Force vs Navy, don't get as much hype, but are still important.
College Football season starts in September, and runs though the end of November. December and January have bowl games. During football season, you have high school games on Friday night, College games mostly on Saturday, and NFL on Sunday, Monday Night, and Thursday Night.

The team you saw where you first said it sounded country was Alabama's stadium. They were playing Dixieland Delight by the band Alabama, but the fans add they're own lyrics at the end "Fuck Auburn, and Tennessee, and LSU too!"

Football is very big in high schools, too, especially in southern states and Texas. I would be driving home from work on a friday, and there was always a big traffic jam of people going to the game. They did the tailgating as well.
Eventually, we used to go out to eat after work rather than sit in the traffic.

@8:00, Wisconsin does Jump Around between the 3rd and 4th quarters of the game. My brother is a carpenter and his crew did a lot of work in the training rooms underneath the stands at Camp Randall Stadium, where Wisconsin plays. They had to leave about a foot of space between the top of the walls and the ceiling under the stadium to account for the stadium moving up and down during Jump Around.

A quick search shows that Wembley has a capacity of 90k. There are 10 college football stadiums that have a larger capacity, they are the stadiums used by: Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and finally the Cotton Bowl, where Texas and Oklahoma play the annual Red River Shootout.

The capacity at Michigan stadium (Mr Brightside) is 107,601. The average attendance for games is 110,000 tho. It's the 3rd biggest stadium in the world with one in N.Korea and India having #1 and #2.
Several college stadiums are around 100,000. Most NFL stadiums are 10x nicer, but only seat around 60,000.

And the game you're talking about with the country music is one of the University of Alabama's games. The song you hear is titled "Dixie Land Delight" and is by the band "Alabama". And while Texas and Oklahoma and other states have more cowboys and all that, we do love our country music in Alabama as well.

many of the stadiums they've shown are close to 100 years old. And a good number of them seat about 100,000. Of course, there have been quite a few million in improvements over the years. The atmosphere at LSU on a Saturday night is hard to duplicate.
Wisconsin had the tradition of playing "Jump Around" between the 3rd and 4th quarters. The entire stadium sways.
The site of Wisconsin's stadium (Camp Randall) dates back to it's days as a US Civil War (1860's) training location.

South is country music…….anywhere they know how to make bbq. That school with country music is ALABAMA….Deep South. They have won like 6 championships in the last 15 years. They are in the SEC> south Eastern conference which is the best conference by far. Southerners live for college and football. Im in the north where basketball and football are more equal and we also like hockey.

The team with the war chant that you said was like Native American is from Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, Florida. The band on the field is known as the Marching Chiefs and the arms swinging is known as the tomahawk chop. I am a graduate from FSU and was in the Marching Chiefs. We actually went to London back in May 1997 to play for the World Football League and did the halftime show for the London Monarchs when they played the Barcelona Dragons.

There’s absolutely nothing like college football on a Saturday night my friends! Fans are a million times better than fans of any other league (including the pros), no matter the sport. There’s nothing that comes close to the passion & love that fans have for their particular schools. It’s a beautiful thing. If y’all ever find your way to the states, come to Louisiana & I’ll take yall to Death Valley (LSU Tigers)! I’ll have gear ready for yall, great food, drinks, & one of the best, most exciting atmospheres in all of college football! Especially if you come on a week when it’s a big rival game (Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, A&M, Etc). But, no matter where yall end up when you come, every school has amazing, unique traditions, so you almost can’t go wrong almost anywhere you go….. Almost….. But yall got a place to stay in Louisiana for sure, for as long as yall want!

Time & threw a concert that weekend. He was amazed at how we used it during the intro to the game. you’re always welcome in the Palmetto State 🫡🍻

You guys can catch Florida State (the native team with the fire stick thing) versus Georgia Tech in Dublin, at Aviva Stadium on August 24th, 2024. Last year, or maybe the prior year, the credit card machines broke, so they gave out beer for free. With any luck, it will happen again. The pictures of blokes with one free beer in each hand, were hilarious.

The "Native American" video is Florida State University. The team is named "Seminoles" which is a Native American tribe in Florida. The University partners with the tribe to provide social, education and medical services to the tribe and the tribe allows the University to use the image and name. The tribe approves the mascot costumes and the tribe Chief and Princess come to the University to crown the Homecoming Queen and King every year. I was lucky to go to Florida State University and it was a great experience.
