i noticed you didn't throw many hook kick(karate style) i mean you throw what jkd people call a hook kick and what for instance karate would call a round house. i was just wondering if there was a reason you didn't throw the hook kick. i cant remember what jkd people call it and i don't want the language barrier to be worse because of my explanation. really hope this made sense. i found a few new boxing combos watching you. really high level stuff cant wait to see your next upload.
Some would call a "reverse-turning kick"; the basic motion being a turn of the body led by the front leg, followed by an upward swing of the back leg heel and contact on the opponent's temple (or side of head). I believe Bruce did not implement this early on when he knew mostly Wing Chun, which focussed on arm attacks above the waist (with some exceptions). Exposure to karate in the USA (most notably from Chuck Norris) led Bruce to rethink this as you know and to take advantage of this if the opportunity presents itself. From what I know of JKD and its philosophy of the fastest most-direct line of attack, the reverse-turning kick would probably rank lower in actual usage. In my experience, the opportunities to use this kick are only few and far in-between and there is a low margin for error. If you miss-time this kick, it can be intercepted or jammed (especially in the split-second when your back is turned towards your opponent). I think that could explain why the Sifu at this JKD studio doesn't use it all too often.
