Orianthi knows she's not a blues artist and this is her paying homage to a musician that she clearly loved in her own way. I love all versions of this track and this is more of a headbangers version. I'm sure she could've made it like all the other versions if she wanted to but she puts her own stamp on it here. And as a guitarist since the age of 6 i'm telling you guys SORRY BUT IT'S AWESOME!!
Heard it done a million times (played it a million times too.) Ori jams it out with the best of them..and with a feel many don't have. The gain was fine, listen to the way old Lefty played it, balls on.
This absolutely towers above the kiddie crap that her "handlers" (and I use the term loosely) have apparently steered her towards in her career. I guess that's where the $ is, but with her exquisite attack of the strings and tonality plus capable singing, I sincerely hope she can reap the rewards while still playing music of this genre.
@IMaiden23 What do you mean by "blues tone?" Jimi had a very unique sound, but his style was not rock. He was blues and jazz. He did throw his own twist on it, but that's what made Hendrix Hendrix. If you played voodoo chile slowly on an acoustic you'll find that it sounds more delta-bluesy than anything. He was a total innovator and was way above and beyond rock and roll. He was.... Jimi Hendrix.
You're absolutely right, oh King of the Awesomeness. Depending on which version of the domestic or imported album/CD one looks at, the (Slight Return) version has been labeled both ways. Very confusing, but your description is correct.
@MrJXA69 it was nothing like jimi however it was an awesome version that you wouldnt think people as new as her on the music scene could do. alot of people think just because she is a girl and she can shred she is the best. she isnt but is one damn good player and lots of people still developing want to play like that. And besides if Jimi recorded a version of that you would lov it!!!
I mean she's obviously a beast I don't know what it is though her strings are too light for one it just doesn't move me the same as Stevie or obviously Jimmy I like The Super heavy crunchy strings via Stevie ray much better it sounds like she's just playing a recording I I can't even put it into words it doesn't move me the same
