    • @PedroCasavecchia
      @PedroCasavecchia  7 месяцев назад

      Hey! Thank you so much for watching!.
      Yes. You can. Just create a material that is not "emissive" with the color you want as "off". Then create another one with emissive properties and the color you want as "on". Then just create a last keyframe with the off material and in the next frame change it for the color you want as on and create a new keyframe. Let me know if that makes sense. Good luck!

    Would you recommend animating in magicavoxel vs blender? Would using blender be better? Would it be situational based on the model(s) or animation(s)?
    Working on teaching myself unreal 5 for gamedev, and learning how to make my own assets with magicavoxel and blender, so any tips would be incredible.
    Thanks a ton for this series, massive help.

    • @PedroCasavecchia
      @PedroCasavecchia  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey. For gamedev proposes 100% of the times go blender. Animating in magicavoxel is cool but it's not something you can export to any kind of production. You will need to animate in blender which, unfortunately, is way more complicated than doing it in Magicavoxel. Feel free to join my discord server if you want. We have a community with many people using blender in there. discord.gg/4M4jMJBaRx

    Thank you so much!! I am stuck with one thing though - I have a bee, body and moving wings are seperated but within 1 group. How can I make the whole bee (group) fly around in circles while the wings keep moving. Rotations etc seem to only work for the single parts within the group. Atm my only solution is to build again without creating a group. >w

    • @PedroCasavecchia
      @PedroCasavecchia  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching the tutorial!
      What you probably will need to do is:
      -Create an animation for the wings. Then make sure the animation is looping. (07:28 - Looping.)
      -Create a new group containing the animated wings and the bee body.
      -Animate THAT new group and everything should move together with the wings moving.
      Let me know if that's what you needed. Cheers!

    I wonder hwo it exports to unity. Probably just the separate keyframed models. Probably cpu intensive to set up a 3D sprite sheet animation in unity rather than rigging but it would be great to keep everything voxelized like a pixel animation rather than rigging. Will be trying this out real soon.

    • @PedroCasavecchia
      @PedroCasavecchia  2 года назад

      Hi there! You would need to find a way to export every model as frames within an ABC (Alembic) file. You can do that in maya, blender or any 3D software. It will be more or less intensive depending on how many different assets you would have and how detailed is the model that you are animating. If you do not include a lot of frames it could be doable!
      If you think about it, Magicavoxel is showing and hiding each model per frame when you hold the play button. So it is not impossible! :D

    • @hasan7786
      @hasan7786 2 года назад +1

      @@PedroCasavecchia Good point. Better than rigging and animating .vox files with the Alonesoft's Voxel Importer. It gets the job done but it loses the pixel art sprite sheet feel. Only concern is 1 model versus a 12 frame model. Maybe il animate on 2's or 4's. Either way, this is fantastic. Would even consider exporting png sequences on a green screen or maybe alpha background and using those as a sprite sheet. Kinds lose the 3d aspect but it might be a interesitng style, like the old days of Clay fighter or other stop motion animated games. Will be looking into ABC files and Blender. Thanks.
